Nice install. Now, I'll go see what kind of relevant and fun things I can connect to a 12V power source and operate. Thx for sharing
I plan to use the Cig plug for 12V Q-Beam Light, Air Mattress Compressor, Roof Beacon, 110V Convertor, (small), etc. etc.

I just got a text from the dealer that I bought my Maverick from. $810 for a trailer hitch receiver and wiring, installed (plus tax). I was told when I ordered that it would delay delivery ($100 I think that it was). Does anyone know where I can get one, and install it myself? Or probably just wait until someone does make them.
I'm sure Curt will have one out soon on etrailer along with a wiring harness for about $200 ;)

Agreed, the aftermarket will be producing everything needed to add a receiver and wiring. The Maverick will always be more labor intensive because the rear facia wraps behind the bar unlike traditional body-on-frame applications... it is what it is....

As much as I hate the looks of the Santa Cruz this is one thing they got right

This is how it should be. Apparently, the hitch is super easy as well

And you can install the tow hitch bar yourself. I wrote a detailed DIY on it, if you're so inclined. Find a coupon code for the tow hitch from Ford, order the Bronco Sport harness, and looks like you'll have successfully piece mealed the solution..Winning..

@RonR1959 Super.glad to hear the Curt Bronco Sport wiring harness install was straightforward. I take it you got it from etrailer.com? Can you help a brotha out and confirm?
I need to order it since I confirmed the 2022 Ford Escape harness will NOT work.
Yes, I purchased it at etrailer. I’m not electrically nor mechanically inclined, so I had the hitch shop install it.

The last vehicle I put an aftermarket hitch on was an early 2000s Honda and it had a connector already wired from the factory that I just plugged an aftermarket harness right into. I really can't believe Ford didn't include something like this on the Maverick but I suspect that they felt most owners would opt for the factory hitch or tow package and never anticipated the supply chain crisis to evolve to be as bad as it has.

I agree but even if Ford anticipated most would opt for the factory unit, they must have realized that in a few years many of those no hitch trucks are going to be selling as used vehicles, likely primarily to people who want a hitch.

I haven't seen the wiring but doesn't it appear that there can be no easy plug-and-play solution?

If so, that is idiotic.

From the SC video "The connector for the trailer harness is under this panel here". Hard to believe that's from Hyundai and not Ford.

My Honda almost 20 years ago was the same way, opened a panel and there was an empty connector that the harness I bought from Uhaul along with the hitch plugged right into, completely plug and play.

hmmmmm...so I just had an idea as a result of a separate thread..... Can someone confirm if this would work?

1. The aftermarket wiring harness from etrailer instructs you to run the provided long line of wire for power, to the battery (found in front of the truck under the hood, as the power source for the little junction box, and the wiring kit also includes an inline fuse for that long wire to the battery.

2. Question: Could you use the DIY power source in the rear bed cubby hole (and use the Ford provided pigtail and the inline fuse) as the power source for the harness kit, instead of running it all the way up to the vehicle battery up front?

Thats cool @RonR1959 , glad you got that sorted out!! Would love to see what you eventually tow. Success is so much more gratifying after all your efforts!

Absolutely use it. Because the BSport may not have the 12volt source back there. That would be the reason for the long wire to the battery

The big question I have is how does the Bronco Sport adapter override the rear crash sensors? Using my wife’s BS just to move my boat without trailer lights plugged in causes all kinds of warnings. Then plugging in trailer gets rid of alerts and informs you a trailer has been detected.

I had one installed by U-haul for my Mazda B-3000. I can't remember, but I think it was $325 and they did a great job.
