An inattentive F-250 driver totaled my previous vehicle for me. I had a LOT of sweat equity in that SUV, bought new 10 years ago.

Could not wait on a new build, and refused to pay the local scalpers for new inventory, so I went with a gently-used unicorn trucklet.

Since we're reviving this thread.... it's been 4 months of cold since I got my Maverick. My 06 Colorado is still sitting out back waiting on some attention to be ready for sale. Michigan winters are rough on the sheet metal. It's waiting on new rocker panels, so it can look as good as it operates, and I might be able to get a few bucks out of it. Wasn't worth it to try a trade-in due to that issue, but now that it's warming up, I can get back to it. Just have to learn to weld.....

Sold my CR-V back to the rental company I bought it from for a quarter of what I paid for it. I also put close to 60k miles on it, so all in all not too bad. Last I heard they added it to their rental fleet so I'll be rolling the dice to see if I get it again when I go to book in a rental later this year after I drop my Maverick off to be shipped back to the US.

Gave my '01 Ranger XLT Super Cab to my son who drove it 2200 miles home to the PNW with no problems.

Kept the F150 as it is a regular cab, manual and 2WD. Dealer offered peanuts for it and most private buyers can’t drive a stick.

Smart choice. You kept a classic and will no doubt have use for it.

I already had an agreement for a cash deal on my 2011 Escape before my Maverick even arrived. Sold it for cash, took the cash to an audio shop and had a killer audio system installed! (I got a cash discount)
I put the leftover cash in savings.

My previous vehicle was a company car (for 33 years). When I retired 6/2023 they took it back, so I had to buy my own wheels.

Still driving it a couple days a week. 2011 Fiesta 5spd with 269,000 on the clock. Only ever done routine maintenance on it and water pump and timing belt @150,000. Still has the CV axles for the day I drove it off the lot with minimal clicking. Checked rear brakes about 75,000 miles ago and still had more than half the shoes left! Plan on driving it until it dies unless someone wants it for the right price...

The dealer I walked from offered me 1500.00 for my 2000 Ranger. Then he wanted a thousand to install the simple trailer hitch. I told them that wasn’t going to work and I was doing something else. I hung up, called the other dealer 90 miles away and drove over and picked up my truck. I haven’t regretted it. I sold the truck to a family with a daughter in FFA, she needed a truck to haul feed and things. I don’t regret it. It went for 5 times the trade offer. Not only did the first dealer loose the truck sale, he also lost the service work the truck will need.
