The dealer I walked from offered me 1500.00 for my 2000 Ranger. Then he wanted a thousand to install the simple trailer hitch. I told them that wasn’t going to work and I was doing something else. I hung up, called the other dealer 90 miles away and drove over and picked up my truck. I haven’t regretted it. I sold the truck to a family with a daughter in FFA, she needed a truck to haul feed and things. I don’t regret it. It went for 5 times the trade offer. Not only did the first dealer loose the truck sale, he also lost the service work the truck will need.

Looks like you take good care of your vehicles. Your Ranger is prime.

My 2001 white Chevy Avalanche was stolen on May 9. I was already wanting something new, so I bought my Maverick 2 days later. My Chevy was found 17 days later after it was messed up by some druggies, so the insurance company totaled it.

Here it is being carted away, the last time I saw it:

Started with a low-ball trade offer. I'd talked to a couple dealerships and gotten a trade offer already that was around what I would expect based on Edmunds prices. Wanted to trade there since in Minnesota, trade value comes out of the tax paid if it's at the same time.

Ended up saying thanks but I'll take my car elsewhere and they came up to that amount which made it worth it for me vs selling private.

My 2003 Toyota Tacoma that I bought new runs great and is my daily driver. After my 2025 Maverick Lariat hybrid arrives it will become my "previous" vehicle. It will be a gift to my nephew.
Unfortunately he will have a long wait because it may be several months before my Maverick shows up.

2021 Chevrolet Spark, traded it on the Maverick. Gave $13500 for it new in early '21, drove it three years and got $10500 for it on trade.

I had a 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz which was totaled in a wreck. It had a lot of technology the Maverick does not have but I really don't miss it. I have owned many Fords with my first 1955 Fairlane club Victoria which I purchased in 1966.

Sold my last one to Carvana when they gave me a reasonable, come pick it up, I don't have to do any detailing or minor repairs to sell it offer.

My last vehicle I sold privately, I sold right after I had done timing chains (CR-V) and knew it had a transmission on borrowed time. Disclosed that to buyer, but it was a sort of naive father buying a vehicle for his daughter who had to have an SUV on a tight budget. Just never sat well with me knowing that young woman would be off on her own /w a vehicle that was almost guaranteed to have some minor, and possibly major issues. Refusing a sale is also a bit problematic though.

One before that was Chevy Cruze that a Hispanic guy who spoke no English showed up for with a roll of $100's and said he would pay $500 more to leave the plates on (which I did not). No test drive, no questions. I saw him drive out the alley and stop to put some plates on the vehicle not 5 minutes after buying it.

So yeah, that was was I kinda didn't want to do another private sale, even though I am a wheeler dealer type of person who will hawk anything, except used daily driver cars I guess.

I would also add though that I think the number of vehicle being sold to Carvana and CarMax at high prices, which they turn around and sell for eye popping prices is part of the problem with the used car market. No more $1000-2000 cars that run and drive, or good reliable cars in the $3000-6000 range has been pushing prices up from the bottom more than most people realize, as we tend to look at the sticker shock of new cars as the main culprit.

Traded it. I had a Kia Soul XLine (2020) with low miles as that was our 2nd vehicle.

They came in low, but got them up to $14k. In Minnesota your trade in value reduces your tax amount by that difference so was looking at $910 more in value that way than selling private, and $13,750 was the best buy offer I'd found beforehand from a dealer.

I probably could have gotten $16-17k selling it privately, but dealing with really detailing it out, giving test drives, haggling with lowball offers, going to banks and getting checks through (and my closest bank branch is about 500 miles away)... I was good just getting the deal done there and moving on.

Had a 2014 Kia Soul for 10 years. Just hit 150,000 miles. And lady ran a stop sign at full throttle. Broken wrist that needed surgery. All happened in december. Was always eyeing the Ford Maverick since its release, So ended up buying one. The Kia was totaled. I was debating getting another Kia, but decided to at least get something different.

The Kia was my 2nd ever vehicle but was the first time I ever bought a new car. I also had a 2007 GMC Canyon, but it only really got used for hauling a few items from time to time ended it selling it the day before I bought the mav.

I know people hate on Kia but I loved that little car

Ford told me $17,500 for my 2020 Corolla, but I just filled out carvana’s online quote system — they offered $21,200. My truck is being built end of Feb so I have some time. Anyone ever used Carvana? They just bring you a check?
Yes, Carvana is easy to work with. They send a rep to look at the vehicle, and if it checks out to what you said it was, they hand you a check, and send a truck to pick it up.

Had a 2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD, crew cab, 4X4 w/ only 55k miles that was in very, very nice condition. I didn't need a big HD any more so put it on Craigslist. Folks came in from the next state west and loved it. I had it for two years, put 2505 miles on it, and sold it for what I paid for it. No complaints.

I got a 2020 Soul X-line for our 2nd vehicle. Handles nice, great use of interior space, headroom in the back, economical. I got it new during Covid when the gas prices were down, and Hertz was selling off all their cars (a lot of Kia Souls) for a heck of a deal. Traded it a few months ago on the Mav, and we were down $1.5k off what we paid 4.5 years earlier. Almost ended up even with the tax break.

Sorry to hear about the wreck and your wrist, but glad you walk away. Kinda funny with your picture, on the Kia, we had a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon before that.
