This is our 2nd vehicle. We had a 2020 Kia Soul X-line before this.

Things we liked:

Cheap. Was $16k new out the door when we got it (when gas prices were down due to covid and Hertz and others were flooding the market with slightly used Soul's selling off their stock).
Easy on gas.
Good use of space for a smaller vehicle.
Could add a hitch (for our bikes)
Problem free and no maintenance costs (a few oil changes).
Fit well. Getting in and out, and my son in and out (2 when we got it) taller than a sedan, lower than stepping up into a Jeep or big pickup.
Easy to drive/park. Handled well
Android Auto

Things I didn't like:

Climbing down and constantly attaching/detaching that bike rack.
Not great in snow (FWD and didn't get snow tires, but again, 2nd car, it only went around town a few blocks at most on snowy days).
Slow.
Not good for hauling larger items or brush from the backyard, etc.
Potential theft worry.

Honestly if the Maverick didn't exist, we would still have the Soul as our 2nd vehicle and be just fine with that. It fit all the reasons we got the Soul, just with more practicality and function.

this is now one of my favorite features of my Maverick: a tailgate pad for hauling bikes.

I had of course seen them, several friends used them. Most did not, though, even if they had trucks they used a hitch rack. I had roof racks from my A4 wagon, and used both roof racks and hitch racks on my CX-9. It sucked getting bikes on/off the roof, and a hitch rack is really annoying to fold up and live with daily; it's in the way when you want to get into the hatch area, and when backing up.

True. my hitch rack had a button to disengage and it would lean out and I could then access the back, I got that by luck, didn't know I'd want it till I had it. And it worked great for what it was, but still, toss the bikes in back and go is so much easier. I'm getting a pad, but I've got the extender and they fit in the back with the tailgate down just fine right now.

And for big road trips or camping trips where I need the bed for stuff, I can still use the rack, but the usual weekend or after work trip for a bike ride, I'm set now.

I loved everything about my 2005 Ranger FX/4. $6,000 off sticker price, paid cash for it so no added finance charges to jack up the overall cost of the vehicle. No recalls over 18 years of ownership. No buggy tech, not even a TPMS system. (I am old school, I use a tire pressure gauge I carry in the center console.

181,000 miles and the engine still ran like a top. All 3 timing chains still tight and trouble free. The 4.0 SOHC was a great engine, Tranny solid as well.

Easy to work on and very straight forward. No parts backorders, ever. Alas, after 18 years of ownership to much time and money needed to be spent to pass this state's overly restrictive and difficult inspection laws.

I traded in a 2014 Chevy Volt for my Mav. Loved the Volt a lot but it was starting to get a bit small for my needs and was up there in mileage, thus starting to cost me more to keep it in good shape than it was worth.

Pros of the Volt:
  • PHEV drivetrain was amazing. Being able to scoot around town and run errands on just the battery but still have the gas option for longer trips was ideal IMO and I definitely miss the smoothness of driving around on just electric power
  • Bose sound system was surprisingly good
  • Hatchback!
Cons of the Volt
  • Entertainment system was really showing its age, especially with modern phones. Couldn't wait to upgrade to a car with CarPlay.
  • Ride height wasn't suitable for some of the adventuring I've started doing when I go fly fishing. I managed to take it down some sketchy river access roads but it's much more comfortable in the Maverick.
  • Rear seat was pretty unusable for any adults due to lack of legroom and very tight headroom.
  • No heated seats in mine :(

My 22 Maverick Lariat has been a huge upgrade in a lot of ways. It's obviously bigger and has a bed so storage for hauling stuff around is way easier. CarPlay has been great with only some super minor hiccups. The Lariat trim came with a lot of fun features that I have been enjoying. All in all, it's been a great vehicle for me and I look forward to driving it for years to come!

I do wish Ford made a PHEV Maverick and if they announced it, I'd likely be running to the dealer to get on the list.

We just replaced my wife's 2021 Toyota RAV4 with a 24 Lariat Hybrid.

What I loved- Toyota rock solid quality.
Resale value. We ordered it at the end of 2021 and bought it under MSRP just before the huge price increase due to shortages. They started adding a $3-4k "market adjustment" just a few weeks after delivery of ours.

What I hated- suspension was bouncy and steering was super touchy. Minor adjustments driving at highway speeds would feel jerky.
Engine was wimpy, when you tried to take of with most traffic more aggressively, the front tires would squeal making you look like an idiot trying to race.
Hard seats. Found some covers that helped a bit.
Hard to locate because everyone has the same thing. I guess it makes it popular, but just gets lost in the sea of blah vehicles.

So far we love the Maverick. The Atlas Blue is reminiscent of my 2018 Mustang in Lightning Blue.
The gas mileage is stellar in comparison to the Toyota. It's almost doubled in the city driving that is mostly done.

My daily driver for work is a 22 Ram 2500 4x4 crew cab. That thing is a beast to drive. It gets 10mpg on the highway with the biggest hemi. It can tow a 12k lbs commercial generator like nothing, but I enjoy driving the Maverick much more. Still has a small truck feel, but greater fun factor.

2014 Kia Soul. I miss auto up and down on both front windows, being able to see what gear you are in and complete control of the transmission, heated mirrors, a far superior climate control system and a better sound system. I don't miss the oil consumption, resultant cat converter failure and lack of power though.

if you'd bought a lariat you would have all of that except seeing the gear. 🤷‍♀️

My 2023 Mav replaced a 2005 Ford Escape

Loved the Escape as it was very nimble and fun to drive. I used it for work and put on 342K miles
My Mav is also fun to drive and much more comfortable.

The problem with 2000-2007 model Escapes it that they are prone to rust out in the wheel wells. Just about everyone I see that are on the road today are rust buckets. Mine rusted so bad the rear shock mounts gave out and it was ready for the hook & bone yard. I also thought that the V6 engine should have done a little better than 20 mpg combined as it was not the most fuel eff.

Take a look at Mr. Rusty

It was what I wanted for the six years I had it.
Maverick efficiency is great now, for this geezer.

Picking up my Maverick from the dealer Monday. I'm keeping my 2011 Ford Ranger XLT for a couple years. My Maverick gets the garage till winter.
The Maverick needs to get out and gallop

My previous vehicle was the minivan Toyota Sienna 2015.

I love the functionality and reliability, especially the sliding doors when having the babies.

I hate the ugly exterior design and no AWD. I made a mistake not getting AWD option while my area has snow sometimes. Im the main driver in the family, therefore, without AWD, it's limited us in the winter.

Since my kids are older, the Maverick Ecoboost 2023 AWD FX4 is better for me. I wish Ford had Hybrid AWD a couple years ago. The FX4 handles the snow well. Some videos on YouTube confirmed this. I have no incentive to swap this for 2025 Hybrid AWD. I'll consider it in the next generation, presumably a few years from now.

Had a 2010 toyota highlander that I got up to 140k ish(yes not the typical high milage from toyota) but hit a rut of problem after problem with it that started stacking up to over what the car would actually be worth. Decided to sell it and by a 23 Lariat tremor. The tremor was only part of that was the maverick I was able to find. And to top it off the dealership couldn't sell it for the life of them so got a decent price for it. Best guess is maybe people didn't like the tremor package? Or the HPR color? But it's been amazing so far the month I've had it. Little better gas mileage, would get better mileage but I enjoy how peppy it is a bit too much. Only two things I miss about my highlander is that it sat a little higher, and the sound of the V6.

oddly enough, when i 1st got my 2019 Nissan Rogue i though the "motion activated tailgate" was something i would never use. Turned out to be one of my favorite features and i would love for my Maverick to have that feature (and maybe incorporate the tonneau cover). Besides that i love my Mavericks 360 Camera...how did i ever live without one?
