A link to basic facts about gasoline:
https://www.familyhandyman.com/list/things-you-should-know-about-gasoline/

Basically, use what the manufacturer tells you to use. Cars are designed for the most common available gas and those that aren't tell you right on the gas door. Ethanol is not as energy dense as pure gasoline so the more ethanol is in your gas, the less fuel efficient it will be. However, Ford has designed all their non-flex vehicles to run up to E15.

That said, spend your money how you see fit. If you want to put 93 in it, knock yourself out. It doesn't hurt my vehicle.

About 500 miles to date in mostly highway shows 28.4. Not much city so far. Showed 524 to empty. Fill w/91
I am getting the same as you at 5000 miles and mostly highway driving. I always fill it with 87 octane.

Anyone have some real world MPG numbers on the 2.0 AWD option?
It would be interesting to see 'real world' AWD vs FWD, EPA figures are 22/29 city/highway for AWD and 23/30 for FWD - a 3 to 4% difference (although combined is the same for both!).
I remember back in the '70s we were looking a limited production of AWD Ford Capris when the question of fuel milage came up the engineers said that a 2-wheel drive vehicle is dragging along 2 'dead' wheels - driving these wheels reduces drag by about 4%, however to drive these wheels you need more gears, shafts and weight, this results in about 6% extra drag resulting something like a 2% penalty in fuel milage.

John, this video shows the real world dashboard mpg of my Jeep Grand Cherokee vs Maverick AWD vs Maverick hybrid. The difference between each is approx 10 mpg.

I reset my trip computer on my AWD Maverick approximately 3500 miles ago and it shows I’m getting 33.4mpg since the reset.

Got 28 mpg over 280 miles with regular 87 on a camping trip this weekend in my Lariat Lux FX4.

I crossed two mountain passes twice (Snoqualmie and Blewett for you WA folks) and drove about 30 minutes on forest service roads, climbing 2k feet.

That's with 245/65R17 ATs, so not shabby at all...

Interesting vidio, the Maverick wheelbase is quite a bit longer than the Jeep, I think the Bronco or the Escape would have made the U-turn OK.
I'm guessing the Jeep is AWD, the worst of all worlds is 4WD where you are dragging along all the extra weight and stuff and only driving the 4 wheels off road.

The Cherokee is 4WD. Yes the Maverick has a longer wheelbase than a Jeep called "Grand". Maybe Ford needs to call it the Grand Maverick.

Speed will play a part along with distance on the MPG. Best MPG I've gotten is 42.5 MPG for a 60+ mile trip with the eco mode set, cruise control set to around 55 MPH and the climate control off. That is almost ideal conditions without my speed exceeding around 55 - 58 MPH. Same trip with the climate control on and eco mode is 40 MPG. Same trip with climate control on, eco mode and speed at 65ish I drop down to 31 - 33 MPG. Around 50 or so miles with the air and eco mode at 55 MPH is around 36 - 37 MPG and 30 - 32 MPG traveling 65 MPH. Any of these trips at 75 or higher MPH the MPG drops down to 27 - 29 MPG with eco mode and air on.

Just turning off the climate control system will increase your MPG by 1 to 2 1/2 MPG on even on shorter runs than these with the eco mode set.

I consistently hit these MPG figures under those conditions as long as it is not really cold like below 28 F on these trips in my Maverick.

Made my first trip up into the Ozarks about 370 miles half steep up and down hills and curvy roads where had to give up use of cruise control. Lots of stopping at a bunch of flea markets and quite a bit of small town driving. Speeds up to 65 mph. 35.6mpg.

I drove from upstate NY across VT and down to Cape Cod (280 miles) and got 33 MPG overall. That includes starting at about 200 feet above sea level in the foothills of NY's Adirondacks and climbing up and over the Green Mts. of VT. I make the trip every spring. My Subaru Forester used to get 30.2 MPG on that same route.

I did roughly 29 MPG at 76 MPH using ACC. I had the A/C set to 69 during a typical Alabama summer day with a high of 94.

AWD and tow w/ altered final drive ratio here so I've got the config with one of the worst MPG (besides Tremor). On the highway I can get 29 to 30 if I set the cruise to 70. I like to go closer to 80 though which gets me about 28 mpg. This is mostly in warm Wisconsin weather, which means the numbers will be worse in a few months.

Love this truck!
