I always assumed this would flatten the pinch weld and avoided direct contact. I guess you never had an issue?
That pinch weld is multi-layer high strength steel the length of the body.....it would be damn near impossible to flatten it.

Good to know, thank you. I flattened the weld on a Buick Century years ago and never tried again.

The Maverick is my very first Ford vehicle and I was disappointed when I found out that it doesn't have a central jack point like Honda/Toyota vehicles. When I want to lift the front, I need to jack the Maverick twice to place the two jack stands.

It depends on the unit body structure & design, as to whether it will have separate FR and/or RR subframes (which typically have a jack point). Not all Honda/Toyotas do either.

Ford C-platform front subframes don't have a central-reinforced point, but there's a well-reinforced spot to jack on each side of the front subframe that I've shown here: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...nted-to-jack-the-maverick.69552/#post-1150981

The rear isn't so simple, unfortunately, at least with AWD.

All wood has defects. You might go for years with no problem or it could split tomorrow. Plywood being engineered is less likely but it is still made of wood strands. Have a friend who used a piece of lumber with his press and I was there when it shattered violently.

+1. Dont like to use any wood either. Also saw them spit over time as well. Use a hard rubber round jack head pinch weld puck. It sits flat inside of my 3ton rolling floor jack head and any pinch weld safely.

Also only use one jack stand per wheel, and, leave the floor jack on the nearby pinch weld too for safety.

Apparently, it's not only possible, it was factual...

Nothing is impossible, including flattening a pinch weld.
In any case, spreading the load across a larger area is generally a good idea that also makes slipping less likely...

The newer it is, the generally more disappointed I am. With the controls, multitude of sensors and complexity, the "throw it away" construction and costs. But, we carry on. Still, happy with the Maverick.

I built this saddle so I could jack up the Maverick (and our other cars) and then settle it on my jack stands.

I've never felt really comfortable pulling a wheel with the truck only supported with the floor jack. It may be the most dangerous thing I do every 3 months.
I didn't have a good way to use jack stands and the floor jack at the same time on the same lift point. So, a swithhort 2x6, some 3/8 plywood to index everything and I've never felt safer.
Nice. I've had good service with a notched out piece of plywood and a tree round cut to size. I have a woodburner, lots of trees getting processed.
