It is just a kind of perfect storm of things I like

Cheap
Economical
versatile
higher off the ground than a sedan
good cargo space
handful of new features that my cars do not have
Hybrid tax credit

I think the Maverick is a perfect jack of all trades, In any specific category I can find something better but as an overall package it really checks the boxes I care about.

People either love or hate the interior. For me, the abundant use of plastics doesn't bother me. I don't need the vehicle interior try to be more than what it is. I care way more about creature comforts. Plus, I am coming from a 2009 Honda Fit so plastic will be VERY familiar
I am also coming from a Honda Fit to the Hybrid Maverick and you are right about the plastic will be VERY familiar :D I actually sat in the 2022 Hybrid Maverick XLT at the State Fair of Texas and I actually liked how it looks compared to my Fit. Ford did a very nice job with the textured look.

My 2015 Honda Fit had more modern technology like the 7" touchscreen, backup & lane change cameras and bluetooth cell phone integration than the 2009 Honda Fit and the 2022 Ford Maverick exceeds what I had in the Fit especially with the Co-Pilot360 package I added to my build.

Nothing in the market really spoke to me, I'll eventually go back into an enthusiast car. That being said I was looking for something that would be super flexible, comfortable and flexible in the meantime, that meant looking at SUVs/Crossovers(to scratch the itch of riding higher than sporty cars I've been use to). But all the cross overs are pretty lifeless and full of compromises. Rav4 hybrid, the limited had all the bells and whistles, but the JBL audio seemed really bass heavy and the powertrain just sucked the life out of me, not even fun to get onto an on ramp. The Crosstrek, cheap enough I wouldn't mind the dog going in and out of, easy to take into the city, and the AWD seemed like good reason, however the dealer networks, higher maintenance cost (Than a Honda), and the dreaded CVT. I was close to putting down a deposit on one anyway, due to high resale.

But then out of the blue my old man says he saw the maverick on a dealer lot and he wanted to check it out. Did the test drive, and it was peppy, comfortable and the premium audio was pretty impressive for the price point. Plus it helps that it looks super cool IRL. It had everything I was looking for, not sure how i will utilize the bed yet but it will be nice to have that flexibility.

We decided that the Mav the perfect companion to my wife's EV. It excels at the 2 things that give the EV a hard time, hauling and distance driving. We have reason to make the 170 mile drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff several times per year. The turbo is nice for 7000ft+ altitude and the FX4+Lux+CP360 should be great for winter weather up North. All of this for the price of a base model Tacoma.

My Mazda3 just went through hellish transmission issues. It's good now, but I don't have confidence that it will last me more than 2 years. I'm going to sell it to my wife's cousin who needs a car. In his hands, I don't know how long that thing will last.
Never bought a new car but I am in a pretty decent spot to afford one. Always wanted my dad's 95 Tacoma but he absolutely refuses to sell/give to any of his sons. All recent trucks have been too big for my liking and this one looks really good size-wise. Throw in the AWD and FX4 and I'll be able to take it to some nice campgrounds in the area with my dogs, equipment, and wife with no issue.
Had a 1987 Mazda 323 that had horrible transmission problems. Hellish would be an apt description.

I like cars, sporty ones at that
However that doesn’t work well for an avid mountain biker

Had several Honda Odysseys to lug my bikes around but the bikes kept getting bigger and the rear interior of the Odysseys kept getting smaller

Was forced into an ecoboost F150 (I’ve gotten 23+ mpg during my ownership) because there wasn’t anything else out there that made sense to my needs

I should also mention every vehicle I have owned has been lowered

The Maverick seems to be the best of both worlds…. Carlike enough but can carry my bikes with no issue
The low bed height was the biggest selling point over the Ridgeline (plus one of my riding buddies had one and I couldn’t be copying him, lol….. though he lifted his and mine would have been lowered)

It also doesn’t hurt that I can get more than what I originally paid for my F150 as a trade in
I’m over 70k miles and it seems like a good time to exit driving this huge truck that does not fit in the garage (without moving my toolbox to the side)

Plans for mine will be determined when I get it
Trying to be good and not buy stuff ahead of time

Got tired of everything with a bed weighing over 2 tons and handling like a wheel barrow. That plus AWD and a turbo for under $30K or a hybrid for even less.

I wanted something like this. This was my fathers 78 Chevy Luv. I learned how to drive a stick in this and passed my road test in this. I have/had multiple f150's. My knees and ankles don't want to climb in to a big truck anymore. I want something smaller to knock around town with.

What a beauty. Why don't we have aesthetics like this anymore? My dad had a luv in this exact yellow when he was stationed in san diego during the 80's before I was born. No graphics tho sadly. My mom still talks about how crappy it was lol.

No one is making a wagon that is even close to affordable, and the hatchback is dead as well. This seems like it is gonna work.

I was going to buy a hybrid SUV (RAV4), since I've been driving a Hybrid for years and love it. I was all set on that for a few years now, with thoughts of just towing a trailer when I need to move larger items, but came to the realization that I do need a truck of some sort or another. I test drove a bunch of different trucks, F150, Frontier, Tundra, Tacoma, and wasn't into any of them, way too much fuel consumption, needlessly large, so I didn't want them, other than what the beds had to offer. I had heard about the Maverick, thought it might be too small, but after giving it a great deal of thought a small hybrid truck like the Maverick just made more sense for my lifestyle than an SUV or a traditional truck. The bed is going to make moving items possible that I cannot do at all with my car, and that wouldn't work well in a SUV.

I've been camping A LOT this year and wanted a truck to get out in the Cascades with something that has better ground clearance than my Accord.

I was looking at the Ranger and the Tacoma, and didn't like either. They're old...so when the Maverick came along, it took me less than a month to put an order in.

1) price
2) mpg
3) fits a baby seat better than my fiesta
4) can put a muddy dog in the bed
5) better ground clearance then my fiesta
6) bed holds more than my fiesta with the seats down
7) price

I honestly love my 2018 fiesta but it's feeling pretty small with my girlfriend, a one year old and a sixty pound dog. I was reluctantly looking at used Honda elements when they announced the maverick.

Ford knocked it out of the park with this thing. It's going to f'in crush. I don't know how anyone with a family on a budget would really consider anything else.

High fives y'all

I retired from 30 years as a Construction Superintendent at 58 and I have wanted a simple fun little truck for a long time. I am getting rid of a paid off 2019 XLT Platinum. I can buy what I want within reason. This Is It! I am going to improve the audio quickly, by myself. Its a lot more fun doing yourself!

Does anyone know the output of the factory amp non B&O?

Oh and we are going to drag it around behind the RV!
