Yep! The first thing I did was got rid of it - went to Discount Tire and bought a steel wheel with the same size tire as my other four to use as a spare instead.

Same. I hate that I paid good money for a 5th Pirelli Scorpion (OEM on my year/trim), but I started with the "motorcycle tire" spare, so even a used Mickey Thompson would've been an improvement.

Why couldn't use the same rim? It's the same size, just change the tire if you want.
Size wise they're pretty close and the spare is actually considered a full use spare you're not really limited like you were with the old donuts.

Size wise they're pretty close and the spare is actually considered a full use spare you're not really limited like you were with the old donuts.

The OP has a '22 XL, it might have the donut spare, not the "full size" (cough cough) version.

I'd say. If you were on a trip. It would be safe to continue a trip with it, until you can get a matching replacement.

Some trims now, MY25+, don't even get a spare, just a fix a flat kit. I'm glad I got the full size rim with the not to full size spare at least.

My Volt's came with a Fix-A-Flat kit.
I found a Cadillac donut rim and tire that fit.

Yes it is a problem. So if you get a flat DO NOT USE IT. Walk to a tire store with the flat tire under your arm and buy a replacement. Joking of course. Answer this. When was your last flat tire? Mine was in 2010 and I put the spare on and drove to a tire store immediately. Had 2 tires put on, because they only had 2 alike, drove 300 miles for work. Tire store ordered 2 additional tires and a week later I had them put on.
