Thats every spare tire that's ever been hung underneath every car/truck since the caveman days. As previously mentioned, you can attach rub strips in those areas and now that you have it down, paint the wheel with oil before you put it back. They are notoriously ignored over the years and tend to get pretty rusty.I went out right away and pulled my tire. I have the same damage but after crawling under my truck I believe it is rubbing and wear spots not melted. Still this shouldn't happen and ford needs to be aware of it.
I also found that my spare does not match the rest of my tires which really angers me. I did not pay extra for cheap knock offs, although at least it is the correct size, I read another person had received a 16 inch tire.
