With the caveat that I'm way too bored and this is completely non-scientific, I found 0-60 runs for the Escape 2.0L AWD and the Escape Hybrid on YouTube that closely matched the tested 0-60 times from Motortrend (6.9 sec for the 2.0L, 8.7 sec for the hybrid). I synced those up in my editing software and found that they're extremely close on 0-30 times, within a third of a second or so. No idea if this will translate to the Maverick, but it's somewhat encouraging.
Boredom aside, that was a pretty slick idea. In the absence of hard data, make the best of what you've got.

I might add that Ford uses a slightly tweaked version of the Escape electric motor in the Maverick. So if your observation holds up, that 0-30 claim might actually be just barely true.

Speaking of distance, I commute 3 miles one way to work. Was curious, does it make a difference if hybrids are driven short distances? I know it's not so good for ICE vehicles.

I mean I have a 94 Escort Wagon 5 speed I daily and that thing is a gutless wonder. It does just good enough when I push it but still, I have to plan my moves way ahead of time. On-ramps suck because you get behind some frightened child going 40 trying to merge with 70 traffic and they can hit the gas and go...I can't, I needed that distance!

I know the Maverick would be a significant upgrade. I considered the Ecoboost...I used to fly a lot for work and the Ecoboost Fusions and Escapes were the best rentals, I'd always pick them when I could find them (National's Emerald Club let you just go pick what you wanted). But that engine and that 8 speed transmission make me wary. I was trying to find more on that transmission, to see if it has been in anything else yet. I think it may have been but I am not certain. I like the relative simplicity behind the eCVT setup. It works well in my fiance's Highlander Hybrid. Sure it won't be the fastest thing on the road but it will be way better than my Escort!

If it accelerates anything like a Prius, then I'll be more than happy. Pedal to the metal, you get the electric motor and gas motor working together, and it's more than enough power for normal daily street driving. Anything more and my lack of self control would result in speeding tickets and high insurance. I had a 350Z and I had to sell it because I found it too fun to drive over 100...

That's crazy. That's just a car payment on the Mav to spend on gas alone granting you don't put money down and don't qualify for incentives... I just can't fathom some people having a high car payment, high gas expense and insurance. You roll 3 together and it's more than some mortgages.
funny you should say more than a mortgage. I had a 2014 F150 with a $500 car payment, and filling up twice weekly with a 37 gallon tank. My insurance was fair at $65 a month. I got rid of it after only a year with just under 40k miles. Bought a 2011 Prius with 60k miles and proceeded to drive the same for the first year. Than moved to Arizona and my commute went from 200+ to 5 miles a day. Than covid happened and I telework now full time.

The Prius got 48mpg when I bought it used and now gets 41mpg. I drive it like a car and it currently has 144k miles, burns lots of oil, and makes funny noises from the electric power steering, rattles in the car, and transmission clunks. It also jolts forward over bumps when breaking, scary. I only paid 10k for it and itā€™s worth 7-8k after 5 years.

Iā€™ve missed the F150, but not the car payment or gas. The Maverick has perfect timing for me šŸ˜€

We have a 2013 Honda CR-V that's rated at 8.7 seconds 0-60. That's consistent with the Escape hybrid and what the Mav hybrid is supposed to do. The CR-V feels great in city driving but somewhat sluggish merging onto highways, where 0-70 is more relevant than 0-60. I'm a little disappointed the Ford hybrid isn't a little quicker. It appears the electric motor doesn't provide as much additional torque as other hybrid platforms.

Having roughly the same acceleration as our CR-V, while a little disappointing, isn't what I would call horrible. I'm willing to accept it for the has mileage.

Does your CRV get 40 mpg city? If acceleration 0-70 is a big deal, there is an optional ecoboost. Iā€™m fine with less than stellar performance for the economy it is offering, coming from a Silverado with the 4.3 that is much slower, and gets 14 mpg.

I will be shocked if the Maverick Hybrid isn't significantly quicker than a Prius. Like you, I find the Prius perfectly adequate, but it's a 10+ second car 0-60. I would be surprised if the Mav Hybrid isn't in the high 8 range.

My sentiments exactly. Back in the day I owned a ā€˜72 Maverick 302 that oddly enough turned in an 8.7 second 0-60ā€¦ā€¦and it would be lucky to get 13 mpg! I thought it was plenty fast, and would have laughed at the notion you could ever get that performanceā€¦and 40+mpg to boot. Man, sign me up! šŸ‘šŸ»

Should be fairly swift. One of my family members has a 2020 Honda Insight.

That car when running on electric engine accelerates very quickly in the city. However the acceleration when merging on a freeway is a something to be desired.

Hopefully the Mav won't have that problem since it has way more power.

It seems to have about the same power as escape hybrid and rav4 hybrid with the same weight. Those cars have no problems with passing and acceleration.
Jeez. I owned a Honda Insight for 7 years (2011-2018). It was an acceleration dog regardless of which motor (gas and/or electric) was involved. And I don't think any major improvements were made to its propulsion system through its entire production run.

I truly hope there are no further comparisons of the Mav Hybrid's "get-up-and-go" with an Insight.

I had an 2009 Kia Optima 2.4 about the same weight as the Maverick and Horse Powerā€¦.it was a 8.8 0 -60 car and it was fast enough that I didnā€™t worry about or wish for more in my daily driverā€¦
The Hybrid Maverick will be fineā€¦
and I drove a 2.0 AWD Maverick and itā€™s a rocket but who really needs that? In a daily driver?

My post clearly says I'm willing to accept the acceleration of the hybrid for the better mileage. I just hoped it would be a little quicker for merging, etc.

Just watched Redline review and he got 7.59 seconds 0-60 in the hybrid!! Thatā€™s impressive!
