Has anyone ever regretted getting a lariat?

There's a lot of talk on here and in general, online, about how the lariat isn't "worth it" and "you're turning a 20k truck into a 50k truck" etc. But has anyone genuinely regretted getting the lariat? I'm asking for 2 reasons,

1. This is anecdotal, but I would make the decision again in a heartbeat. I love it, and i love every extra little feature it includes. I think the argument that I could get a ranger for the same price is a stupid argument because I don't need the extra capability of a ranger and I want the extra features that wouldn't come with a base model ranger. It's like asking why wouldn't someone get a mustang instead of a miata. Some people just want the miata.
2. I frequently see people spend more money modifying their trucklets to copy a Lariat than had they just gone with it in the first place. 1000$ seat covers, thousands in speaker upgrades, diy wireless charging/400w bed plug etc etc. Seems like they should have just got the lariat in the first place.
What are your guys thoughts?

I like mine. Like you I don’t need a larger truck. As an old guy I like the extras, even the heated seats in Florida.

I was considering one of three trim levels; XLT, Lariat, Lobo. I went with the XLT. (2025. Shipped, not yet delivered.) We (wife and I) didn't want the faux leather. We added the lux package to the XLT. I would like the Pro Trailer Assist, but, iirc, that was a Job 2 option, and I think my truck is a Job 1. I test drove a Lariat (2024). I actually like the XLT wheel design better. I don't think I'll regret not having a Lariat, as this isn't my DD. I wouldn't regret having one, either. I'm sure I'll be happy.

I spend a lot of time on the road for my job, and I am SO happy I chose the Lariat model. I love the extras you get with it. I like the interior and the leather seats. Auto cruise is the best thing since sliced bread in my opinion. Yes, it was a bit more money, but I could have only got the base model of any other truck for what I spent on my Lariat and wouldn't be as comfortable on the road, so I have no complaints. My next one will be a Lariat as well.

I have owned 2 of each, my first Mav was s Lariat bought in 12/21 and sold in 8/22 for the money and bought my 1st XLT and was happy with less options and I like cloth seats so it for the money and I bought another XLT and still no regrets.
FF 2 years and I just picked up my 25 Lariat because I wanted the ACC, 360 camera and the pro trailer asst. All the other stuff is fluff that I could live without. I didn't really need the pro trailer assist but thought maybe its not fluff but only time will tell.
Having said all the above I its really a personal choice but my 1st Lariat was a whole lot cheaper than my last one (same options). OTD 28k vs 38k. lol

I sold a 20 Ranger to buy my first Mav and no regrets there, my Ranger was a FX2 so rode a little rough.

do you still have that window sticker? something isn't right about your comparison.

all hybrids were cheap in MY22, and you could get a non-lux lariat which ceased to be an option in MY24. but I still doubt that a '22 hybrid lariat could be anywhere near 28k out the door unless you're ignoring a trade-in or something odd like that.

You're missing the point of this thread, which is about regretting actually BUYING a Lariat. Those complaining about affordability aren't looking at Lariats, since they simply may not have the means to afford one. Maybe they've made some poor choices in life, but I'll bet a number of Lariats owners are like myself, cash buyers, who could care less about APR.
The Lariat "haters" are those that don't own one. Read the thread, the overwhelming majority of us are happy with our purchase.

I bought the Lariat because it came with a lot of the conveniences I have grown accustomed to in my 2013 F-150. I also wanted the heated "leather" seats, black interior, auto headlamps and other things that were available as options on the XLT. When I built both on line the price difference was negligable in comparison.

This little blue "Grabber" is the perfect truck for my current needs and it wasn't anywhere near $50K.

It wasn't a Maverick Lariat, but at the end of 2019 I bought a fully loaded Ranger that invoiced for $30k. I only paid $22k out the door with my $4k trade-in (a 10 year old Ranger).

It had too many bells and whistles on it. Ironically, the one thing I REALLY wanted, it didn't have...a large screen. It was like a 4" screen. Really small. And much like the '22 Maverick, I couldn't swap it out for a larger one. I sold it 9 months later for $26k, so I essentially drove it for 9 months for free.

For the most part I'm a bare bones kind of guy. I've gotten used to (and now require) power windows, power locks, power mirrors, cruise control, and a nice radio, because they've been around since the '80s. And now I "need" a big screen & a heated steering wheel. Anything else is superfluous/too much.

Lane keeping, auto lights, 360 copilot, remote start, heated seats, and whatever else exists is just more stuff I don't need that's gonna break and cost me money.

If I buy another, it will again be Lariat trim. Like so many others, I love the extras. I also got every available safety/driving feature on my AWD '22. Today I was on a lot and saw a LOBO and Tremor, and I have to admit the front end has grown on me. The LOBO grill looks cheap at first glance. What has not grown on me is giving up physical lighted buttons and rotary dials.

It would just be a utility truck w/o the Lariat and safety/driving options.

I like the 'extras' in the Lariat package. My 'pickup needs' have changed over the years. I appreciate being able to haul 4X8 sheet goods laying flat in the bed and nearly 2000 lbs. capacity while still able to park it easily in a parking ramp. That last capability gives me the shivers.
I'm not regretting buying the Lariat package and I'll probably buy it again in a future PHEV version of the Maverick.

We had a 23 luxury lariat as well as our 25. Love them both and highly recommend the lariat specifically

If I can afford first class on the airplane, I do it. For the 2022 Lariat hybrid, the cost was $32k. Love the heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise, quiet cabin, and rear slider. The seats are comfy and everything else has been great. I didn't jump on the 2025 model. I did order a green lariat and cancelled. Someone else scooped it up the minute I declined. Instead I upped the warranty through Ford to 100k miles on my2022 Mav. Maybe in 3 years I will want a new Mav Lariat.
