I purchased a Lariat FX4 4K package. I don't regret it but will acknowledge that it is overpriced. It is a very nice cheap truck but it's still a cheap truck. For that premium it should have came with a power passenger seat, memory seats, auto dimming rearview mirror, LEDs all around. And I'm not a fan of Ford locking safety features like adaptive cruise control and Lane centering behind the highest trim package. Ford can charge a high premium because they're the only game in town if you want a compact truck. And the black appearance package is another overpriced option, it's all just trim and paint. You know what the cheapest color is in the manufacturing world....BLACK!
While you're at it you can add that every new vehicle is overpriced. The Maverick, whichever model you choose is a bargain. My Lariat has all the bells and whistles that I'll ever require and I'm lovin it.

I bought my 23 lariat used, but with low mileage. And a few family members tried getting me to go for a used Tacoma or Ranger. What really pushed me to the maverick was that I can get a fully loaded lariat with 9k miles on it. Or the lowest trim Tacoma, with 40-50k miles for the same price, Same with the Ranger.

I had a 24 XLT ordered when the salesman called and said he had a Lariat come in that the customer couldn't finance. Had all options on it (including BAP and tow). The Carbonized Grey looks great with the BAP and the 18" Michelins with BAP pkg wheels set it off. I don't need to spend thousands to get it all factory. Oh yeah, the B&O sound set on "surround" with the thicker sound barrier windshield is fantastic. DEFINITELY happy I bought the Lariat (glad I did get the 24, don't care for the black roof and front grill and bumper).

I'm in the minority here, but probably because my first Mav was a 2024 Lariat. Been there, done it, and got the T-Shirt. I wanted a 25, and so I traded the 24 and bought it. Didn't care about or use half the stuff in my 24 Lariat, so I knew the XLT would fit the bill just fine for me. Now had I not had a Lariat the first time around, I may feel different. I didn't care about ACC because it really isn't practical in DFW traffic imo, still to much of a control freak about my safety, and I'm one of those weirdos that prefer cloth seats 🤷‍♀️
XLT AWD came with the black package, tow package, XLT lux package, and co pilot 360 for $33,200 after dealer and LEO discount.

I had the money saved and knew I was about a year away from retiring. I keep my vehicles so long I am never on the cutting edge for tech. I know the Maverick Lariat was not even close to having all the cutting-edge tech, but considering my last SUV did not have a reverse camera and had a monochrome screen on the head unit. It couldn't even show the individual tire pressures.

I went all out, long warrantee, 8 years replacement cost insurance, but I hope to have worry free driving for a long time (while I save for my wife's next car). I use/ enjoy almost everything Lariat has; quieter, upgrade sound system, adaptive cruise control (lots of stop and go traffic on my commute). I am very happy I bought the Lariat!

Ever met anyone who told you their $400 sunglasses weren't worth it?

How about their $600 driver?

It's a lot easier to feel good about the things you buy that maybe aren't the best value than worry about it forever. If you're a worrier you probably bought an XL.
I have prescription glasses. $400 is a bargain! 🤣

Seems like a great use case?
Right!?! First time I let the vehicle do ACC in Birmingham traffic, I was apprehensive. Now, I don't drive through there without it. Much faster reaction time than me.

I love my '25 Lariat Hybrid. Yes it cost as much as a XLT Ranger, but I didn't want a Ranger.

I bought it as a daily driver and for road trips. I utilize the bed for hauling and the AWD for the rainy season. I wanted the adaptive cruise and the moonroof to enjoy cruising the Texas highways. Yes, I payed more for these options, but I am using every single one.

The only regret I have is I wasn't able to afford one sooner.

There's a lot of talk on here and in general, online, about how the lariat isn't "worth it" and "you're turning a 20k truck into a 50k truck" etc. But has anyone genuinely regretted getting the lariat? I'm asking for 2 reasons,

1. This is anecdotal, but I would make the decision again in a heartbeat. I love it, and i love every extra little feature it includes. I think the argument that I could get a ranger for the same price is a stupid argument because I don't need the extra capability of a ranger and I want the extra features that wouldn't come with a base model ranger. It's like asking why wouldn't someone get a mustang instead of a miata. Some people just want the miata.
2. I frequently see people spend more money modifying their trucklets to copy a Lariat than had they just gone with it in the first place. 1000$ seat covers, thousands in speaker upgrades, diy wireless charging/400w bed plug etc etc. Seems like they should have just got the lariat in the first place.
What are your guys thoughts?
Bought the Lariat for adaptive cruise, B&O sound, power seat, etc. No adaptive cruise option on other trim levels. Love my Lariat.

Opposite side of the coin, I bought an XL and I don't regret it.

I've added...
- A rear view dashcam combo (not available in any trim) $100
- Horse stall mat in bed (not available in any trim, in my use case superior to other options) $80
- Subwoofer under back seat $100
- Hybrid tonneau (hard PVC with soft over top) $240
- Two rear storage compartments paid with Ford points $0
- Hands free android auto adapter $40

I had planned other potential upgrades, but finding I'm happy as it sits and not missing anything while driving. I'm moving past my car itself to other things like getting experiences out of it for bike trips, yard work, lumber runs, etc.

I think psychologically we're built to justify our purchases and logic leading into our decision. Questions here may get you bias replies because of that.

Statistically the numbers probably don't lie and are less opinion based. The #s say I(XL) am too cheap and you (lariat) are too spendy 😂. XLT has the numbers.

My personal situation, cars are already overly complicated and I want less of that in my life. Less to fix, less to keep up or care about, more bandwidth and cash for things I enjoy more.

Side note and not directly related, but the cash difference between a Lariat (awd, my ideal setup) and my XL is similar to what I dropped on 2 sweet E-MTB for myself and the wife. 1000 x more enjoyment for us per $1 there. It all depends on the individual and how that person gets value for the dollar elsewhere.

Life is short, act fast, regret nothing, and do as much as possible. Damnit ... I need to stop spending my time on this forum, lol.
