  1. Auto AC is weak when it is hot outside

On my 2022 Lariat . . . for AC . . . I set the temp to 'LO', turn on 'recirculate' and use the fan to adjust more or less cold air flow and I keep the moon roof sunshade closed. In the winter, I set the temp to 65 degrees, set it to 'AUTO' and open the moon roof sunshade to let the sunshine...
  2. 👉🏻 Under Hood Lighting For Less Than $20 👍🏻

I used these same light to light the top of my safe in the center console so I could work the combination at night, and one inside the safe as well. They work great. I'll try the two I have left like you did here . . . Thanks
  3. Feds can’t use Forscan

I always thought Ford had it's own pricey software to largely do what Forscan does and Forscan just give us enthusiasts a way to get into the vehicle's software without buying/using Ford's.
  4. A Dummy Discovers the Amazing Benefits of a B.M.S. Reset!

I must be doing something right (wrong?) because I don't do anything to the battery and the truck works works fine. I don't charge the battery, I don't lock the truck for 8-10 hours, nor do I have to flash my high beams hit the brakes and sacrifice a goat to the goddess Electra. Good little...
  5. Hybrid Mileage improvement with 100% ethanol-free gas

There is a lot less clatter coming from under the hood when using 'real' gas. But ethanol is good for keeping moisture from collecting in the winter. Personally, I like less noise and don't care about mileage or cost differences.
  6. Flipped Maverick.. Pontiac Mi

    Scratch my belly please!
  7. My Maverick saved me. Totaled in deer strike @ 75 mph

If you buy what you want, if they don't like it, maybe they will not 'borrow' it for errands.
  8. Hybrid Revs Coasting Down Hill

On that level road, watch your driving coach meter when you engage "L". The ICE part of the gauge becomes smaller, indicting (to me at least) that the ICE is working less hard and therefore using less gas for the same MPH.
  9. Hybrid Mileage improvement with 100% ethanol-free gas

I used to use ethanol in the winter for the de-icing properties but I stopped after I tried a full tank of regular gas. The truck makes far less clattering noise when using regular and that's enough for me to pay up for regular. I did the same thing in our Eco Edge. Now I use a can of Sea Foam a...
  10. This single tip saves 20% gas!

Apparently, the gas mileage figures the government accepts for 'highway mileage' are attained at 48 MPH (that's what mt dealer's shop foreman says). If I drive at 45 MPH to town (with no-one behind me to get annoyed), I get low 50 MPG. If I drive the same road at 60 MPH I get 35ish MPG.
  11. Hybrid Revs Coasting Down Hill

This probably means your battery is 'full' and the regen cannot delivery energy to it so the ICE is used to slow the truck. When this happens in ours, we pat the dash and tell the truck, "whoa, stop showing off all that muscle. Don't you know there's an engine brake ordinance in force"? 🙂
  12. Cracked Windshield Thanks to Carwash

Is that car wash a 100% touchless wash? Some car washes have one of those bumper rollers that contacts the windshield in just about that exact spot.
  13. Getting rid of SiriusXM

Are you leaving SiriusXM as the audio source when you turn off the sound system or shut the truck off? When I start my truck and I left the sound system on when I shut it down, it starts to play where it left off. Maybe changing the audio source to something other than SiriusXM and turn off the...
  14. T-boned and flipped at intersection. Impressed with Maverick safety

Years ago we were re-ended at a stop light by a guy who just had a brake job done. The caliper broke in half and he hit the car in front of him and they hit us. It was definitely a faulty part but he did go to the cheapest shop in town to get his brakes done. We were looking at the busted...
  15. How to prevent plastic oxidation?

I find by doing only the basic wash (no wax, no clear coat) the black plastic stays black. The extra products applied by the car wash just build up on the plastic and glass and the vehicle looks exactly like your neighbor's. Especially if the sides and other places were the sun is less direct...
  16. Keypad Placement

Our Edge has the keypad integrated into the B pillar. You have to run your hand over it for it to light up, so it is very well hidden. I wish that would be standard and not this after thought wart they have now.
  17. I thought the new H4 AGM batteries were not very powerful ( lower CCA’s) until I looked at my stock battery

Do you have access to a load tester (maybe your dealer has one). It would be interesting to test each battery. I ask because I am wary of 'extra' capacity claims in batteries that are identical in size, shape and chemistry.
  18. Minor regret not getting an F-150 class truck

When we moved, we rented a 55' semi-tractor trailer and slowly filled it over the course of a few months. We were charged a small monthly fee and a larger fee each time the company had to move it. This was pre-PODS. It worked great and it was really something to see the skill that driver had...
  19. New product (to me) - car seat gap filler

How about just a rolled up towel? Then you've got something to use to wipe up spills, clean up after an unexpected tire change or wipe down the truck after going through the car wash.
  20. Article: My Name Is Sal Gusmano, and I Break Ford Vehicles for a Living (at Michigan Proving Grounds)

If the Maverick went through this course, why are there so many rattles? . . . interesting job by the way.
