I went to the junkyard and got a homelink module out of a chrysler minivan, the cream colored plastic matches the roof console well enough that it shouldn't look out of place and it'll have switched power so even if I'm parked on the driveway for some reason no one can use it to get into the garage.
Just need to get it installed now that it's springtime.

Or I can clip my 2 door opener to the sun visor.
Mine rattles obnoxiously and I can't stand having it up there but it bounces out of the cubby.

You could just use an app on your phone. Liftmaster MY-Q device will open any garage door. Installed several of these . Can use free app or it works with alarm.com
MyQ is such a flakey piece of junk haha
I love it when it works but on my previous opener I've had it randomly open my garage at 3am, or not open my garage when I need it to so many times or log me out due to "inactivity" when I'd just used the app an hour previous....
If they'd put just a tiny bit of money/development into it and refine it I'd probably advocate for it a lot more but as far as I'm concerned it's pretty crap.
Hell, I have a brand new MyQ door opener and it won't connect, apparently there's some glitch in the software that refuses to start it's little internal server or some such. It sees wifi and wifi sees it but MyQ won't go to the next stage and allow me to enter a password to connect it. Junk software is junk.

Yeah that works fine to open a door, but closing it starts a whole sequence of loud beeps (for 30 seconds IIRC) before it starts closing. That's because they assume you might be halfway across the world and decide to close your door while a child is playing underneath it.

30 seconds doesn't sound that long, but in reality it gets very annoying to everyone within earshot.
It really is annoying, even when it's my garage, plus I can hear my neighbor's going off if he beats me out the door.
6:00, peace and quiet in the neighborhood

Show me where you can get one at that price. You can’t.
Good point, people keep touting this like these mirrors are still available for anything near that price. Last time I looked they were $80-100ish and because I'm Canadian it was about $40-50 in shipping no matter the mirror price.

No shit? I rooted every android phone I ever had. That’s sucks. I’m apple now and the MyQ works very nicely.
Do you use the MyQ system from the app on your phone or did you pair it to a device like on the SlingShot thread?

That's strange, mine has worked flawlessly for at least 7 years. The only time it hangs is just for a few seconds when I'm leaving WiFi coverage and the phone hasn't switched over to the cellular connection yet

For your configuration issue, are you connecting it to a guest network? If the guest network does client isolation you won't be able to connect to the opener to finish setup. Your network has to allow peer discovery in order to complete this kind of setup

We install several in a week, never have issues at all. We do use them on alarm.com tho. Maybe the wifi. Only issue we had was if you mounted the gateway too close to the opener, it would work intermittently , so I just put the gateway on the wall by a electrical plug and where the strobe will be seen. You may have interference from cheap LED bulbs in your opener. Here is a sheet from chamberlain

.
Or just over $31 shipped and 30 minutes of my time. Like many others on here I installed the homelink Auto dimming mirror.

I don't even know if I could purchase a replacement garage door opener for that cheap.

Not sure when I bought the second one for my dad for his Lincoln corsair it was still just over 31 shift and that was in September of 24. They might have raised the price since then, couldn't tell you haven't looked.

Yeah, I just removed the visor clip on the supplied remote and used 3M VHB tape to mount it to the overhead console. Never had an issue or worry about someone breaking into my truck to steal the remote. (Is this a thing that actually happens in bigger cities?)

🤔 If this made the news. You know there's many more that happened that don't make the news.
I hadn't even thought about Airport parking lot you got the opener you have the people's address you know that they're going to be gone for a while perfect opportunity.
And very discreet probably even be able to get the remote for the access to the gate.
Then what the thieves do is. They open the garage door pull their own vehicle inside the garage, close the door. That way they can take their time picking out what they really want. 😱

I keep my remote in the little cubby below the cup holders. Fits nicely.

My house has cameras that would alert me and my bogie little town officers would be bricked up for an opportunity respond.

Plus insurance going to cover whatever they take some of you are way too high strung.

RE agent: show home to prospective buyer, interrupting ongoing theft with van in garage. Another time interrupted owners daughter and BF skipping school. Buyers flashed by BF exiting back yard as shades in patio windows were open.
