So, this happened yesterday, it was the hottest day so far here in PHX, 116, had been driving the truck without issues, parked the truck for roughly 30 minutes, got back into the truck and it sounded like a diesel truck, you can hear it and see the engine shake. Turned off the truck, restarted it, no more noise or shaking. Was able to drive to the dealership, with decrease power, NO warning lights on the dash OR app.

Dealer stated it could take 2 weeks before they could get to it, Ford wont pay for a rental until they know what is wrong with it.
]XLT Hybrid, March 2022 build, no other issues with the truck at all.

Fun times..

Yikes, hopefully something minor. Hopefully not the crank issue that can cause a fire...

A bad case out of the many out there. This is why new vehicle warranties exist. Stuff happens and Ford is no exception. I’ve had other makes go in for major warranty work, but after ended up being fine. Hopefully yours get fixed soon bud.

my personal Maverick is creeping up 8K now with no issues.

So another update, after calling Ford Customer Care (FCC) back, I have rental, and Ford themselves will pick up the tab. I have a case # with them. I still haven't heard from the dealer or service advisor. FCC will contact the dealership on Monday to get them to look at the truck and diagnose the issue. I'm not sure how the dealership thinks it's ok to wait 2-3 weeks before looking at the truck and not to provide a loaner....

Used to get a very similar noise out of my 2008 Camry Hybrid, from time to time. It was usually after I washed the car, or if it was cold though. Would last less than a minute, always freaked me out. Never had any lasting issues on my end, but apparently it was issue with the top end of the engine (also ran Atkinson Cycle FYI). This could be totally different though.

Good call, had it occur a couple of times on our Prius on really damp mornings. My understanding is it can also be a sign of a failing head gasket allowing pressurized coolant into one of the cylinders, with the engine shut off, on the Gen 3 1.8L Toyota. Hopefully not the case on the OP's truck.

Cheers.

Lets see....

Didn't wash the truck and it was 117 degrees.

Yes, I read your post. That was when I remember it happening the most, but the time of year and temperature was not the determining factor. It happened on cold (blew freezing) or hot days (over 90F). If it is an issue with the engine like that, the ambient temperature wouldn't make much difference.
