Well didnt know it was such a pain, glad we got rid of ours before resale tanked. I actually replaced it with a used lexus gx for less money than the kia and it has been bulletproof and wife loves it. win/win!
Man this sounds eerily similar to the KIA issue with the theta 4 cyl engine. They added logic to the ecm to detect a failing engine using the knock sensors. I guess it was so common they would alert the driver to return to dealer for service immediately to avoid failure and a fire. It gave...
I just added this to my XL. One thing I noticed is that it is much harder to turn the key to unlock/lock if you need to manual lock for whatever reason. Did I install it correctly or is that just the way it is? Seems like the key is forcing the solenoid to move and causing alot of resistance.
Most of the bolt ons you could probably do pretty easily but the gearing would be a nightmare to change front and rear, plus its still wouldnt have the proper GCWR to legally tow 4k lbs.
Just did a trip from ATL to Charlotte in my 2.0 AWD 4K. Its really a great road trip vehicle, plenty of power and comfy in the front seats. Here was my trip avg. Speeds from 55 to 85mph, a few traffic jams/road closures where I slowed to a stop for periods of time, auto stop/start was disabled.
Looks like that ramp levels off quick before the boat is out of the water and it was dry, many ramps are not so forgiving with a load like that. I wouldnt make a habit out of doing that with FWD but at least it worked this time. Not a good place to hook a strap to the front of it either so...
Ford is usually good at keeping folks engaged in the model by offering new packages and drivetrains for the next model year. I'm not seeing anything new of interest for 24. No ST model, no AWD hybrid, no PHEV, pretty lazy on their part since alot of these things are in similar ford models.
Was hoping the epic 3k off deal would come back, maybe by the time there is a phev or all electric version it will :) I will say Granger was the easiest and best dealer experience I have had.
Interesting...sounds like Ford was waiting to move the engine production to the US until issuing the recall. Must have been a ton of QC issues there, maybe part of the reason why they were having so many delays getting the hybrids built.
Was I dreaming or was there a class action lawsuit brewing over the first fire recall on the hybrid. Seems like they claimed the holes in the engine cover and removed louvers did not address the underlying problem...
The "fix" will likely be just enough to get you out of warranty or the absolute minimum to limit legal liability. I remember KIA going through something like this on our SUV and they wanted to install a software update to detect rod knock to shut the motor down before it caught on fire. I...
I was interested in one until I found out it does nothing for the fuel pump clatter, was hoping it would dampen the DI noise a bit, about the only thing that annoys me about the truck. I have no use for one aesthetically.
I'll bet they could make an awd phev for $7500 more than the plain fwd hybrid. With the rebate it would be a wash and a far superior vehicle. Hope they do it, would be an awesome option.
Took a 400 mile trip from Ga to TN and and I got 32 mpg with my ecoboost AWD 4k running between 80 and 90 mph. Was pretty happy with that... also had 4 people in the truck and hauling about 500 lbs in the bed. Very surprising how well it drives and rides on road trips, wasnt expecting that to...
Are you trying to convince us or yourself the hybrid is better for long term maintenance? I'm seeing quite a few issues with the hybrids on here... Plus if you want AWD or 4k tow there is no option.
