I'm sorry to see that you have had issues with your Maverick but I am relieved to see that these are entirely related to the hybrid drivetrain.

My EB is unsophisticated, rough, and not that fuel efficient (Tremor) but it's powerful and should stand up for 100k or more.
Related to early build hybrids, that's an important detail many overlook. If you buy a maverick built during or last May of 2022, they seem to be pretty flawless. Those first few months of production were just a little rough.

We've had our '23 XLT Hybrid for about three months now. It has been completely problem free, gets 40-50 mpg, and we absolutely love it. I was concerned my wife may not care for the whole hybrid thing, but once I showed her the EV Coach, she feels like she's driving a video game. I think she loves the truck more than I do. Sorry you've had so many problems.

Just a little word of warning to those who are lurking and considering buying a maverick.
I have a very early 2022 XL hybrid that I took delivery on in Dec 2021 that is now approaching 40k miles.
I really wanted to like this little pickup but the mounting issues are really chipping away at my satisfaction and confidence.
These are the issues I have had to date. Some have been resolved and others are still lingering with no apparent solution.

Be prepared for ALOT of headaches. These things are trouble. I have had pretty much every problem known.

RESOLVED ISSUES
1. Engine fire recall. Complete. Ford actually came to my house to do repair
2. Airbag recall. Done at dealership and I even received a nice YETI tumbler for my trouble.
3. Remote start catalytic converter overheating. Done at dealership.
4. Grabby brakes @ low speed. Took a year and a half but Ford finally released a fix and it is much better. Still not 100% but I can live with it.
5. EGR System failure. Repaired at dealer under warranty.

UNRESOLVED:
1. Dash Rattle: Requested repair @ dealer, Noise cannot be replicated.
2. Battery drain due to vehicle staying powered up with key out: Sometime when turning off vehicle and removing key everything stays powered on. Vehicle cannot be driven but dash stays illuminated, heat/ac works, radio works, etc. Vehicle apparently stays in this mode until battery dies. IF you catch it and reinsert key condition goes away. DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE
3. Customer satisfaction program 22B39 12v battery drain. WAITING ON PARTS
4. SAFETY RECALL 23S27 : Apparently the 1st fire recall fix is not sufficient. WAITING ON FIX FROM FORD
5. ENGINE/TRANSMISSION surge @ idle: In colder weather with car in drive but stopped, there is a surge that feels like the car is trying to move forward. It goes away after a short warmup, but it is a very unsettling feeling. DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE EVEN THOUGH IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DRIVE CYCLE
6. Loud Engine rattle/shake: In cold winter temps once in a while with ICE engine running there is a very loud rattle coming from driver side engine bay. A very noticable shake is also present. Sounds Horrific. I have not been able to pinpoint where noise is coming from because when car is put in Park and I exit vehicle to investigate, ICE engine shuts down. DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE
7. Electrical/weird issues: The other day I parked, turned off vehicle, key out and exited car. About a minute later the radio turned on at full volume and could not be turned off or down until the key was inserted and vehicle turned on. HAVE NOT BROUGHT TO DEALER. OUT OF WARRANTY
8. Vehicle routinely goes into deep sleep mode. Not sure that this is really a problem, but sometimes it happens multiple times per day.

All that being said there are things that I absolutely love about the Maverick. Its pleasant to drive, gets great fuel economy, and is fairly utilitarian.
I have 3 Ford products in my driveway and really want to stay a loyal Ford customer, but man this little Maverick is making that hard to do.
Sorry to hear about your issues. I have a 2023 and it has been trouble free in 5K miles. Hope I can say this at 30K. Would be interested to know if any of these issues showed up early within 5K?

I was being conservative but around 100k the 2.0 EB will need a walnut blasting to clean off carbon deposit build up on the intake valves. I will probably have it done between 75-80k and would expect that one maintenance item should have the engine firing fine through 150k.

I changed oil at 500 miles to a full synthetic (Mobil 1), and will change every 5k religiously. Air filters every 10k. I only fill Top Tier 93 fuel (Shell).

My EB should last just fine.
Have you tested your mobil 1 or have you seen the UOA on Mobil 1 in the ecoboost engines? Just asking because it tears down very fast in most turbo applications.

No, because my Tremor has less than 1,800 miles on it and I switched it at 400 miles.

I plan to use Royal Purple at 5k and beyond. I'm confident the EB will be just fine.

1st, it sounds like you have a bad build. Not necessarily a bad experience for everyone. Recalls will be a thing with almost any manufacturer, so that's not really a 'negative'. It would be a 'positive' if there weren't any recalls. But, odds are they're going to find something after the fact that needs fixed.

Your problems that can't be replicated... aren't problems. The issue is that if it were a problem, it would have a consistent issue that can be isolated and fixed. You need to have your phone recording on video sitting next to you when you expect those problems to happen and be ready to record them.

That left engine bay sound, may I ask is it when it switched from hybrid to electric at slow speed and at a slow deceleration? Because that's pretty well known that it's the engine staying engaged to the output while the electric motor is taking over. My truck has done it once in 2 years (27k mi). You just tap the throttle to get it to stop. At least with my experience and where I read it from someone where had done the same thing.

As for the 'surge'... that's the electric motor/hill assist and the foot brake. Most of the time, the brakes aren't used. The electric motor/charging motor slows the vehicle and the manual brakes only engage at very low speeds when you're almost stopped (unless you need them stopping at a higher speeds or faster stops). Your electric motor is ready to propel you forward as soon as you let off your brakes, but the manual brakes have to stay holding you back. They can't be '100% precise' switching between the two (one, there's brake fluid moving, it's not as fast as an electric solenoid). You're hitting the 'sweet spot' of your brake activating the electric motor and not yet releasing the manual brakes. Press harder, and it stops. You're used to an ICE where the transmission is in neutral when not moving. There is no neutral with the hybrid. There's either 'on' or 'off'.

As for things like dash rattle, road sounds, etc. This is a 20k truck. You're not going to get luxury quality/silent/pristine ride from this class truck. Especially not after 40k miles in two years. This truck is at Kia Soul level terms of comparison, not F-150...

If you have any problem that repeats that you keep returning for, go get it fixed and have it reported. Multiple different problems usually aren't capable of a Lemon Law claim. Unless there's a root cause such as a computer/wiring/etc causing the intermittent various issues.

Get a lawyer. You can find lots of lawyers online that specialize in lemon law auto lawsuits. You probably should have done this before the 36,000 mile mark, but a lawyer will tell you if they can do anything.

Basically, you want to say the car is a lemon and you want Ford to buy it back from you. Problems that cannot be fixed, that the dealer has worked on multiple times or they took too long (30 business days) to fix qualify under lemon laws. The federal law is the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act . Some states have even better lemon laws.

Terrible this has happened to you. But your experience is not typical.

Recalls aside, it sounds like OP got a lemon. I would've returned it under lemon laws, long before it racked up that many miles.
I would agree, look into your state’s lemon law. I could probably have written as much about my 2019 Hyundai EV which they ended up buying back for full price. Find another ‘22 or ‘23 and I’m sure it will be better!

I have 39k miles on my 2022 hybrid I received in Dec of 2021...yes, have had the recalls...whenever there is a "new" model, you should realize there may be issues to resolve due to it being a new product. I did have a new radio installed due to it not scanning, and I had an emission light come on at 36k which was fixed under warranty. I have averaged 42.3 MPG over the life of the maverick. That includes at least 5 or 6, 2000 mile highway vacations, which hurt the MPGs.
Overall, I give the maverick a SOLID 10 on a 1-10 scale. Just my .02

It is possible for some to own a Tesla but not be a fanboy or a fan of Musk. I despise Musk. I own a Tesla.
Who said anything about Musk directly until you did? You despise Musk even though he has much to do with the success of Tesla? Hmm. You sound a bit envious to me. Since you brought him in to the discussion for some odd reason I’ll just say I think Musk is great and I don’t own a Tesla.

I realize recalls are going to happen, and to be honest they dont bother me at all. But...recalls are rarely voluntary and are usually only related to safety issues that NHTSA is aware of. The OE's are usually not very good about "recalling" a vehicle for anything other than what they are forced to do. They usually handle it by fixing problems as they occur.....until the warranty has expired.
I'm fine with that as well, as long as they actually work towards fixing it instead of just telling you to come back when it fails. What usually ends up happening is that these little problems become big problems much further on down the road when the customer ends up having to foot the bill.

I completely understand that the maverick is not a Lexus, and one should not expect the overall quality to be of the same standard as a vehicle costing 2-3x more. Its a base level car that is probably not very profitable for Ford.

Kudos to Ford for a great concept, its just very poorly executed.

SYKOTYK: Regarding the engine rattle, it has only happened in cold Michigan weather, and from what I remember you explanation of when it occurs seems correct. I was not aware that there was a root cause as I have only seen a few posts mentioning this problem. I will have to do a little more research. Thanks for the tip.

Have (had) the exact symptoms (problems) you are having. Xlt Hybrid September 2022 built. Hopefully the new builds do not have these issues.

Good morning. Could you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to try and get to the bottom of these unresolved issues with you.
