  1. Hybrid owners that had the computer update recalls. Any issues afterward?

I don't drive a lot so it will be a while before I have a bunch of miles on. An oil change and the various recall updates - three or four - were done at that time at the Ford Dealership. So far no problems. All were just software updates. The only thing noticeable was the estimated miles to...
  2. Dang squirrels chewed through wires!

Our cars always parked in an attached garage. But our mistake was we kept bird seed for the feeders - sunflower seeds specifically - in the garage. The 2011 Escape lost nearly all power while my son was driving it to work. Pedal to the metal just to get off the road. Someone from work came...
  3. What's in Your Glove Box?

Registration, insurance card, ice scraper, tire pressure gauge & handful of napkins. The handgun is in my pocket. No reason to freak the officer out and maybe catch a 9mm in the face when he or she asks for license, registration and proof of insurance. Other vehicles I've owned didn't have...
  4. These Are The Cars You'd Buy Today To Last 250,000 Miles MAVERICK IS INTHE LIST

It appears that this article is some sort of readers or owners made suggestions? Not a review by "experts" in the automotive press. I personally believe the Mav hybrid and EcoBoost both could go 250,000 miles. Our 2011 Escape - with the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder - is already past 250,000 miles...
  5. Voluntarily recall for the air/fuel enrichment calibration not functioning as intended?

I've received the recall several days ago. My truck runs fine and the mpg is great. So I'll wait until the next regular servicing and get it done then. What would be wonderful is if any other recalls are taken care of then. I've received no other recall notices. But I know there is the turn...
  6. Maverick Improvements

That really, REALLY is not going to happen. Ford's 1.6 and 1.5 four cylinder ecoboost engines had a higher than normal failure rate. But Ford didn't quit making Escapes. Here on these forums - where people create an account just to bitch/warn/seek relief from problems it's easy to think the...
  7. Might not be able to take Maverick delivery

Full coverage, $100 deductible and much more than State minimum on the liability coverages. I'd have to look it up but at least 100K and maybe 200K. I do have multiple cars and homeowners as well with State Farm. As has been mentioned on this forum before (I think, maybe it was somewhere...
  8. Might not be able to take Maverick delivery

As others suggest, shop around. Insurance rates vary greatly. My Maverick is my least expensive vehicle with State Farm. Because of the extra safety equipment. Less expensive than the 2018 and the 2011 Ford Escapes. My cost with State Farm for the Mav is about the same as Gullsway. I was...
  9. Why did you join this forum?

Like lots of others, I joined after ordering my Maverick in Sept 2021 and realized it was gonna be a L O N G T I M E before I was driving my Maverick LOL. It was a fun place to learn about the truck from the lucky basti'shs that had actually gotten a Maverick and were driving it. This is...
  10. 2024 Maverick is Alex on Autos' Truck of the Year (beats out Tacoma, Ford Super Duty, GMC Sierra 1500)

This reply also covers a few other posts...... There are several variables that weigh in on the "isn't that big a difference in cost of fuel..." My driving tilts more to city - probably 85/15 - versus the EPA estimate of 70/30. So my average mpg with my Maverick hybrid is 40 mpg. I have a 2018...
  11. Open Letter to Jim Farley

Responding to a number of different comments/thoughts here - most expressed by more than one person Some People come to this forum JUST to bring attention to the problems they are having with their Mavericks. Hoping to find a solution, or to warn others - or maybe just to vent. Nothing...
  12. Open Letter to Jim Farley

Lemon law(s) exist just for these situations. From the information here the Mav is under warranty. Make Ford take it back. Hopefully better look with the next one
  13. 2024 Maverick XLT Hybrid arrived.

Pictures or it isn't real :p Is a long wait - but sadly close to the norm for hybrids. At least for a lot of us. I was a bit under 13 months. Yours over 15. Can you imagine how many Ford could sell if they actually could build enough to meet the demand in full plus put stock in dealer lots...
  14. Any difference between eco mode and regular mode

I use normal mode. Did eco for one tankful and didn't notice any difference. Any other mode besides normal requires me to manually select it. So the only mode other than normal I can see myself ever selecting is slippery in bad weather.
  15. Would you buy hybrid again yes or no

I have a 2022 XL Hybrid. Yes, I would absolutely purchase again. I don't drive a lot and a back of the napkin estimate says my driving is probably 85% city 15% highway. After 6600 miles I'm averaging 40.2 mpg. That's a lot better than the 13.5 my 1998 F-150 got. And there is so much more space...
  16. Maverick vs Ridgeline.. has anyone compare the maverick to a Ridgeline?

I do not think the Ridgeline to Maverick comparison is fair - thought it might be interesting. The Ridgeline is more comparable to the Ranger or Tacoma - both in price and size. A top of the line 2024 Maverick is still a couple of thousands less than the base price for a Honda Ridgeline...
  17. Short bed hack

That's some serious MacGyver there. I doubt I'd have the courage. :p
  18. Maverick shortage is over?

No Mavericks for sale here in southern Indiana that I can find. Not even used ones. Interesting though there I found over 20 Ford Lightnings. Only two were XLT's priced in the $57-$59K range. The rest were Lariats $70 to $80K.
  19. Thoughts on Ford modular bed liner?

It wasn't the dealer. If you order the modular bedliner directly from accesories.ford.com, you are offered the option to pay for installation. Which is only $60. I've linked below. At the end of ordering online - if you selected installation - you are given a list of nearby Ford dealers to...
  20. Sleeping in the Maverick Cab. Yes, it is doable, but....

It's called the fetal position. Curl up with a few small pillows. :pThe back seat is fine unless you are NBA center or NFL linebacker sized.
