The hybrid is the one to get reliability wise. The issues the hybrid has are pretty minor like deep sleep or CV axles. Those are both issues that have been resolved or mitigated. Swapping to an AGM battery seems to fix the deep sleep issues for most people. The CV axles were redesigned and...
Oh absolutely. There's just something about a cool product that you and I can actually afford if we want one that makes discussing it a lot more fun. I understand some of the tech like the mach-e style door handles or Tesla 3 style screens might be off-putting for some. But I believe having all...
It's every freaking time man. It's pretty ridiculous that it always devolves like that. Like I could see the bashing and politics if we were discussing unpopular government policy or something. But the fact that it'll just be stories like "Look at this cool EV" and it still devolves into a...
Yep. EVs are a hard sell a 80 grand, at 25, 30, 40 grand, they're great. Anyone who thinks it's not gonna happen doesn't understand how the marketplace works. When phones came out, they were literally bricks and adjusted for inflation, they were something like 8 grand, like an insane number...
😂 I can't blame ya. It's me highlighting the general lines and shapes I can make out under the sheet. Looking at crease lines, the generate angles of things, etc.
Some more tibids. Overall, this truck sounds kinda like if Tesla had decided to make a super innovative truck, but instead of making it look like a dumpster, made it look more conventional, and a lot more affordable. In other words, this Ford EV truck sounds like the type of truck Tesla should...
JFC guys, can we ever have a discussion on EVs that doesn't get heated and/or political lol? Here are some close ups of the truck under a tarp. The hood is shorter than a maverick, and angles down near the leading edge for areo, but overall, the shape isn't as radical as I was expecting.
It...
So it'll have more than 200 miles of range, and the interior won't be basic. It won't be on the level of a 80 grand Cadillac, but the team wanted to create affordable vehicles that didn't that the Slate approach of needing to be shitty to be affordable. Apparently it's gonna have one of the most...
I strongly disagree. Most of my drives are less than 5 miles. As more and more people live in the suburbs and urban environments, you're gonna see more and more drivers who aren't driving super long distances.
Furthermore, a range of 300 or so miles is pretty comparable to a lot of gas...
So it gives me maverick meets mustang vibes. Like a muscle truck almost. You see how the front end looks pretty traditional and truck like, but is shorter and angles down near the leading edge.
It's hard to see because the f-150 that's covered is blocking the view of the 30k truck, but zooming...
To be fair, this new platform is all about smaller, and more affordable EVs. That's a use case where EVs are stellar, as compared to something like a lightning that's asked to tow a massive trailer. Not to mention we've seen demand for affordable EVs is pretty darn significant on a global scale...
It's hard to say, because Fords CEO did say that it's not really a truck, and it's a new silhouette. But as we can see in the line drawing, it looks pretty traditional. Kinda seems like his comments are contradicting what we're seeing.
To be fair, I do about 5k miles because we do a shit ton of drives that are only a few miles. Driving the car for longer durations a few times a month and changing the oil more often is how I try to hedge against things like condensation in the oil.
It's still not much to go off of, but this gives us a better idea of the overall proportions of the truck. The rear of the cab appears to be roughly where the presenters left shoulder is. You can see the general shape of the cab, looking slightly bigger than a maverick, and see a hint of the cab...
A few other observations, the roofline looks to be about as tall as a maverick give or take, hopefully slightly lower to tie into the sport truck theme which would be awesome. You can see a hint of the sloping roofline as it nears the rear.
This could be me misinterpreting it, and it's not...
So we only really have closeups and vague teasers, so it's hard to draw firm conclusions, but just some things I noticed. The rear cab of the truck slopes down slightly for aero near the rear, not a full of coupe roofline, but less flat than the maverick roof.
The cab, to hood, to bed...
If you wanna know what I mean by hips, just look at these two line drawings comparing the maverick to the EV truck. I personally think styling touches like this, while subtle, serve to make a product more exciting visually, so that's exciting.
