Had an opportunity to buy a Ridgeline end of last year. I balked at the price difference at the time. Around 15 and change to move into a Sport which is the lowest level and 17 and changes for the RTL which comes with some nice options. At the time I was getting around 5000 off MSRP and an offer of about 18k for my trade, a 2016 Avalon hybrid. I ended up buying an older F150 beater for about 4 grand. So far I have put about 1000 into repairs. Not a Ford fan.

Now the trade is worth about 24k but all the dealers that even have inventory are jacking the price up way over MSRP. I'd go with a Ridgeline if they would sell at MSRP, but most are jacking the price up from about 38k to 42 or 43 grand. Some are even adding in freight even though its included in the MSRP. The maverick would do everything I need for a truck to do for a reasonable price. Not super crazy about the interior, but like the idea of the hybrid. Ordered mine in October after I got a chance to sit in one at a local dealer. Would still like to drive one too, even if its the 2.0 turbo.

I'm what you call a perfect consumer - I am not very brand loyal (except for Pepsi > Coke, Chick-Fil-A > *, Kraft Mac & Cheese > store brand... maybe a few others) so even though I'd driven Subarus for over 10 years I wasn't necessarily opposed to trying a different vehicle.

I've lusted after a Tesla for the past year or two but it's still a little outside my price range. And it would be parked outside all the time... (the Mav will be as well)

I looked into Jeep Gladiators, but they get you on every little option - easily pushed it over $40K. At least with the Maverick you pick the 'Luxury' trim and get TONS of stuff. After seeing all of the stuff you get with a base Tesla I was surprised at how much the other companies nickel and dime you on options (but they ARE trying to turn a profit).

About a year and a half ago I looked into getting an older pickup (mid-2000s Ford Ranger or Toyota Tacoma) as a second vehicle.. this was before the prices skyrocketed. My Crosstrek almost doubled in value so I figured I'd trade in for something new. I've been somewhat following the Maverick news, but it was only in the past month that I really did a lot of research and saw what a great value it was.

I've never owned a Ford, and to be honest my parents had back luck with them growing up. Hopefully the Mav is a different story.

I bought a '19 Chevy Equinox in July of '19. Had way too many problems with it to list. Was planning to start looking for alternatives, when I saw a preview of the Maverick. I was sold immediately! Started planning on waiting until the Maverick came out to trade up.

On 7/23/21, someone forced me to move up the timetable... I was doing 60MPH at the time..

This is how the Equinox ended up...

Insurance totaled it and was nice enough to pay it off for me..

Went to my friend's Ford dealership to get something to drive in the meantime and ordered my Maverick on 08/09.. It was built on 10/18 and actually made it to South Carolina this afternoon! If all goes well, I should be able to pick it up next week...

Bronco and Sport. Ended up with Bronco Sport and the Maverick. Bronco was more of a dream vehicle. Not worth it.

Looking at some hatchbacks, still am actually but the lack of sunroof options pretty much sealed those deals. Looking at some crossovers, but mpg is hard to beat in price range. But if something comes up with sunroof, heated seats, mpg, four door, under 30k that looks decent i have no loyalty to a maverick. The Toyota Corolla Cross is on my list but have to get one at the dealer(no preorder) so the hunt goes on.

Toyota Sienna hybrid, decided to get the Maverick since it’s less expensive, specially no markups.

Researching/driving Mav has actually pushed me up into mid/full size because it's too close in capability to my Forester (which we'll keep). I'm either going to go F-150 or wait for the Taco/Ranger/Colorado redesign.

I owned a 17 Ridgeline and loved it but had to sell it for more of a people mover. I was lucky to get a 21 Sienna Hybrid 1K under sticker in May 2021. That sold me on hybrids so now I ordered a Maverick Hybrid XLT FWD Red to replace my 2014 Focus 5 speed. I am thinking the Maverick is more of a fun truck while the Ridgeline was more of a luxury SUV feel. If money is no object I would get a Ridgeline but the price point and fuel mileage of a hybrid Maverick is hard to beat.

I wasn’t really in the market, yet.
I had the plan to drive what I have for 5 years then trade it in just before the warranty expired which is in about a year.
Ford was not high on my list as my last one was a 3 valve 5.4 F250 which was a complete POS…
My current car is a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk which I really like, but I wanted to address its shorts on the next car. The Jeep’s a little down on HP, has too much bump steer, has mediocre high speed handling and is just a little too small.
On the upside economy is great, ergonomic and styling are good and the AWD system is exceptional.
So my thought were all over the map…
A high roof van to camperize; to big, too much cash and would I really build it. Nope, it’s out.
Toyota Tacoma; to much money for what you get, poor economy.
Nope, it’s out.
Jeep Compass; oh so close but same engine as what I have now.
Then the Maverick was released…
I was sceptical but sold on one after a test drive And ordered one a couple of days later.
For me the expected wait is perfect timing.

I was signing the papers for a 21 Ridgeline when the dealer told me that he couldn’t transfer my current plates (CAPTAIN) from my RAV4 to the Ridgeline! I asked why and he said “they just couldn’t “. I literally stood up, reached over the desk, picked up the contract and tore it to shreds. Saved me $40,000 but I really liked the Honda….. so when I saw the Maverick, it was an easy choice.

I have a personalized plate as well, and I asked the dealer about it when I order the Maverick. If I remember right, he said since the Mav is less than 6,000 pounds it's not considered 'commercial' so my plates can transfer. I wouldn't think the Ridgeline would be over 6K, unless it's a state thing that a truck has a different plate type in NJ.

I’ve had these plates on at least 8 new cars, 2 Tacomas, 2 Highlanders, 3 RAV4’s and 2 Camrys…. It was just that the dealer didn’t want to be bothered. Transfer of a plate in NJ is a 1 year renewal VS 4 year…. Much lower cost.

Finally had the opportunity to purchase a truck, and started looking at low mileage used Rangers and Frontiers. Found out about the Maverick while searching and talked to my wife about buying new for a similar price to used.

She is the one that has been encouraging me to get a truck as the kids are grown now and she knows I've missed having one.

This whole adventure was her idea and I'm just sitting here reminding myself how damn lucky I am.

Wasn't really in the market, but was doing a lot of research in consideration of my next ride. Was leaning toward getting an SUV, maybe a RAV4, Kia Soul, and really liked the looks of the VW Tiguan, but I'm a bit gun-shy after my last VW left me stranded at the most inconvenient moment back in '98. From 1998 to present I've been a dedicated Honda owner.

Came across an accidental Ford Maverick video on youtube, and fell down the rabbit hole of research after that.

So long as things go as planned, I'll be a Maverick owner in 12-16 weeks, which makes me a first-time Ford buyer.

This will also be my first truck.
