I’m going through this situation now because my son totaled his 2017 Tacoma and needs a replacement. My Maverick is being built the week of Feb 14 but he’s not getting that. Probably would get one off a lot but basically there is no inventory. Used cars and trucks are a really bad investment, count on losing 30% in the next 18 months if not sooner. You can get a new Colorado or Tacoma for almost the same price as a used one, just crazy. If you can settle for extended cab vs club cab there’s some available. I’d probably go Civic if we went the car route.

The end of this week I will have had my 04 Taurus for 18 years now, & will keep driving it until my Maverick arrives, even if it would for some reason get pushed to a 23 model. I am keeping the Taurus, it has little resale value, even though it only has 75,000K & NO rust.

Actually, I've been looking around and am seriously underwhelmed by what else is on the market. I guess I'd go with a frontier but the reason I hadn't already bought one is because it's bigger and more expensive than what I need.

There is a guy locally who drives a 90's era toyota pickup that is 4wd, extend cab and lifted with big tires. It's basically a proto-maverick because it's pretty much the same configuration. It's more or less exactly what I want, but he ain't selling though. The mav is newer, nicer, rides better, etc and I would really just rather get my mav.
I agree. I'll drive my 2002 4runner with 285,000 mi. I was hoping, last year, I would like the Frontier. But it's not what I had hoped for. Good 'ol 4runner will last another few years.
I'm getting sick of looking and waiting.

Keep driving my 2006 Escalade with 223,000 miles, a permanent check engine light and oil leak. But heck, she runs just fine, and while she isn't a long-term solution, I'm fairly confident she can get me through 2022 and allow me to save some additional money to put down on the Maverick if/when it finally arrives.

The worst part about waiting is worrying that someone will hit my car again and kill the value once and for all. So sick of driving a sedan. I am actually looking at early 2000's jeep cherokees because reasons. Sell my car now while the value is good and drive the beater until the mav is ready. Maybe keep the jeep and turn it into a off road/overlanding rig.

Then again, I'd rather just get the mav.

I don't want to think about the Mav not happening, but if it did I'm perfectly content to keep driving my '19 Civic hatch. Haven't crossed the 20k mark as far as mileage and it's a great car.

So, I am really the impatient type. I am going to look at Lincoln Corsair Reserve and perhaps get that instead since I know there a few left on the lots

Well I have a 2003 Mr2 that has an issue with the smt transmission that it seems no one can fix. I'd that does not work out get a used civic or something. Keep my 2011 F-150 for truck stuff.

Status quo. But we've got a build date on an XL EB that should be here in early April. That will not be staying long.

I ended up getting a customer cancelled Ecoboost Maverick 3 weeks n some change ago, but my alternative was a Mazda 3 Hatch. I had one I liked and was about to pull the trigger on at my local dealership until I got a callback from Long Lewis Ford in Selma about the Maverick I ended up getting.

If I was willing to go over $30k on price I would have bought a Golf GTI.

Honda Civic Sport Hatch was also considered, as was one of the upper trims of the Kia Soul.
