This is NOT required for the remote up down correct? For those with XL/XLT, the driver and passenger door and switch pack are relatively cheap at around $30 each so under $100 for all three. But the real undertaking is the wiring and harnesses used. Check out the wiring diagram pinned in the electronics forum.
Unfortunately it is. The additional hardware is so the body control module can communicate to the door modules that are MIA on the lower trims. This is NOT required for the remote up down correct?
Double turds.Unfortunately it is. The additional hardware is so the body control module can communicate to the door modules that are MIA on the lower trims.
Before starting, I would like to apologize if you do not understand what I write, since I am using Google Translate to make it a little easier to read, since you speak English and, being from Chile, I speak Spanish.
Greetings colleagues, I joined the forum because I think I could give back a little help with the forscan mods. I was able to activate the "Global window close" in the DDP and PDM section, activating the "Global Window Close" section in both. I'm not very good at this but that change, added to the activation of the BdyCM module that was previously mentioned, made it possible for me to open and close the windows remotely. It should be noted that here in Chile they only sell 3 versions of the Maverick with specific equipment, in my case it is a hybrid Lariat Maverick. I don't know if this helps but I managed to get it to work this way.
I forgot to take photos to make it easier to understand.
I can confirm on my Lariat that these edits work for 'Global Window Close'. I did not like the beep when hitting the lock button on the remote the second time so I made one further change. To reinforce @Lyonjor 's message, I also successfully enabled global open & close yesterday following these steps, but without the number editing part mentioned by @Azmig88 . Instead, to update the settings in the DDM and PDM, under each of those modules there is a "Global close" function to enable, same as the changes made to the BdyCM outlined by @Nighowl2000 .
Newbie instructions
just did this mod. its in the bdycm (choose the second one) then under filter type global. Enable the following:
Global Open - Initial Value
Global Open - Vehicle
Global Open with Remote
Edit 2023-01-24.
To get global close enable the following:
Global close - Initial Value
Global close - Vehicle
Global close with Remote
I had a 2002 Jetta that had this feature. Did help on hot days to open the windows as I was walking out to it in the parking lot.Yup. Or to close them if it's raining. It's becoming more common on a lot of brands.
As a side note, It's really perplexing to me why Ford and others have no-cost features like this turned off. Wouldn't they benefit from selling a car with more features?
Possibly also door modules and window motors. So to sum up the new switches are required for this mod as well as forscan programming correct?
Now what about this wiring issue? What is to be wired if the switches are swapped and forscan programmed?
Step 2 is required right? earlier posts seem to indicate that you just needed to enable the 6 values in BdyCMConfirmed these directions worked for me on my 2024 Lariat Hybrid. Based on my reading of the thread any XL or XLT model cannot make this modification due to the auto up/down window being hardware controlled. AKA - this is only for Lariats unless you do significant hardware swaps for the other trim levels.
Make sure you follow the complete steps including the quoted parts in post 26. I missed the quoted parts in #26 and only had global open windows.
Using forscan make these changes:
Step 1) In BdyCM (NOT BdyCM AS BUILT format): Find these line items and change these 6 items to Enable.
Step 2) In DDM module (the AS BUILT)
- Global Open - Initial Value
- Global Open - Vehicle
- Global Open with Remote
- Global close - Initial Value
- Global close - Vehicle
- Global close with Remote
Step 3) In PDM module (the AS BUILT)
- Find 740-02-08 and change the third last value to this: xxxx-xxxx-x0xx (keep rest values the same!!!) then click on write
- Find 741-02-08 change the third last value to this: xxxx-xxxx-x0xx (keep rest values the same!!!) then click on write
If you only do the BCM changes then only Open functionality works. You need to set the DDM and PDM for it to be able to close the windows as well.Step 2 is required right? earlier posts seem to indicate that you just needed to enable the 6 values in BdyCM
Thanks! If you only do the BCM changes then only Open functionality works. You need to set the DDM and PDM for it to be able to close the windows as well.
Is it possible to have Ford dealership enable all windows to go down with the remote?I used the procedure from nightowl2000. It’s simpler if you are unsure about changing hex codes.
It’s essentially enabling items that are disabled. The hex version does the same thing and will be the end result in changes to as built done by enabling.
You can set the windows to close upon locking or hold down to close. Depends on your preference (Safety of occupants or animals)
