There is no dealer stock.
Not sure this is true, where did you hear that?

I find it strange Ford would provide stock allocation before they close retail orders. They don't even have a final count yet to determine it unless they are forecasting. In theory, most of the orders came in at the end of last week.
In theory, the earned allocation numbers would be based on this past years sales figures, so they would already know that information. I'm not sure how the formula works exactly (11 shouldn't make sense for Chapman), but I know it's based on past sales history

If it is auto-generated, I could see the computer struggling to do it properly. Especially since Ford likely hasn't had a full regular run yet. That system may be built for more stable times.

Ahh.....well that is sucky. The numbers don't add up though. So I suspect this chart is going to change. Wonder if they made the chart, or if Ford sent it to them.
You’re right. The allocations don’t add up. The total is correct but it should be 10 gas and 1 hybrid. Does the ratio of 10 gas to 1 hybrid seem unusual to anyone?

A ratio of 10% hybrid to 90% gas would not track at all with the stated constraints for those engine types. But that would assume that we should be able to 1 for 1 use the constraint lists to allocations.

FordVideoGuy this evening appeared to poo-poo all this low allocation stuff as "possibly" retail allocations but he just was not sure and it did not seem to make any sense to him.

On a related note he also stated that when they did a count of hybrid v. EB orders at 500 orders it was 80% hybrid. If that is indicative of national orders in general, gonna be a hell of a lot easier getting an EB.

If true (big if), I feel bad for the dealers. Customers understand supply chain constraints are Ford's problem. Customers will probably be less forgiving though with "we took 30x more orders than we were allocated", even if it is Ford's fault.

I can't believe that in 2022 Ford couldn't set up a build/order system implementing dealer quotas using allocated builds and overall numbers.

This sounds like allocations for dealer stock and not customer orders. Those kind of numbers would be for a limited edition vehicle but not a mass produced one.

I can't remember where it was from, but there was some news that Ford will be building more dealer stock units during the times that they are unable to build customer vehicles due to the constraints.

The vehicles for dealer stock will have very limited options and packages to choose from so they can be built quicker and put on dealer lots. This way Ford can continue to build as many as units as possible and keep the production line maxed out with the on going supply chain issues. The same thing is happening on other Ford models as well.

Is anyone really surprised?

Ford: We have introduced this new truck that is way more popular than expected. There will be no stock units, have your customers order.

Dealers: Great! Here are a bunch of orders!

Ford: Well crap, we can't make these orders in a timely manner. Maverick production will be extremely limited for months.

Dealers: Okay, we will sell them as soon as they are delivered, do your best.

Ford: We are changing the allocation system so it will be based on delivery of the same model throughout the previous year.

Dealers: We couldn't sell a lot of Mavericks because you didn't deliver any for months.

Ford: You didn't sell a lot of Mavericks so this year you only get 11. Do better this time.

Dealers: How are we supposed to "do better" with only 11 trucks for a year.

Ford: You bought the franchise, figure it out.

Exactly...
Ford: "You delivered 0 Mavericks in January of 2021, therefore, we have allocated you 1 Maverick for all of 2023."

From what we have all heard: Ford wants customers to order their vehicles in the future. The dealers will have very limited lot allocations. The dealers have to declare very soon if they will be EV dealers or ICE dealers. Some may not ever get a Maverick. 23 production does not begin till Nov 15 - Ford will have the figures they need by then.

That sounds exactly right!!

I think allocation will be less than everyone wants/hopes....but I can't believe it will be as bad as some of those crazy low allocation numbers are showing. Is Ford only planning on making 20,000 Mavericks this year? If so, they should have just made all of the 22s, and then just skipped to 24!

Ford has about 3100 dealerships in the US. If there is an average allocation of 16 units across all US dealerships, that is only 49,600 units they plan on producing for customer orders only. I can’t seem to find a total number (so far) of 22 Mavericks that were produced/delivered to compare with.

They've issued VINs for at least up to 113,900 MY22s.
