I think you nailed it on the head. The average numbers need to be normalized. For example, most cars sold used to be sedans, now they are suvs and trucks. They also have way more features and amenities. My first car was a used 1994 Ford Tiempo. It cost 6k, so roughly 11.5k today. I don't think...
Cancelled my order and bought something else, but posting this for the VIN watchers. Also, my dealership rolled me over into a MY24 order too (without me asking). Would be ironically hilarious if I get two unwanted XL hybrids after waiting and moving on. It also sucks I can't give it to someone...
I "cancelled" in that I went into the dealership and told them to cancel my order and they gave me back my $1,000 deposit. I also did not go in and re-order this week. That's why I was so surprised to get the email lol. I assumed they would probably have let my MY23 order ride and take it for...
Ford tried to punish dealers who didn't sell to the customer who placed the order and/or charged above msrp. Dealers sued and also got laws passed to prevent Ford from doing this. For example, in Florida now you can't ding a dealer for selling above msrp...
I didn't get mine and the dealer and Ford marketing both strongly hinted I'd need to reorder in '24. Just be aware there are no rollovers and you don't retain your place in the queue.
It'd be pretty funny if my XL Hybrid gets scheduled this week as I just bought a Kia Niro PHEV today and also cancelled my hybrid order. I'm at peace though as I really like the new Niro PHEV, so far.
I called Ford Marketing and she's like "unscheduled clean" but added that "I can see they are trying to gather the parts for your vehicle now". I asked for XL Hybrids or my particular vehicle. She said my vehicle. Might just be something they are telling people to mollify them. Also she...
I called Ford Marketing to see if my order was going to be built. The guy was pleasant but didn't know anything. He did however sign me up for a virtual tour of my non-existent truck so now I get calls from them about that. It's sort of insulting tbh since I am probably not getting scheduled so...
Well, hope my Kia gets built soon. Wish I had realized how Ford was going to fuck me and ordered the Kia earlier. Ordered the fucking base model xl and the base model hybrid engine. Apparently base means different things to Ford.
I wouldn't. But you could probably justify it if you think msrp will keep increasing. For ex, my22 xl was 20k. Add on 5k. You're only 2.5k above my23 and probably 0k above my24.
I visited my brother in upstate NY and saw more Mavericks in the northeast than here in NC. Maybe southern buyers aren't as interested in smaller trucks? Or, more likely imo, Ford has delivered less Mavericks to the southeast.
The interest rate environment will probably be less salient to most buyers for MY24 than the MSRP increase, unless you're a person with no credit history and get a double digit loan rate. Right now rates are about 2% higher on average over the last 10 years vs an msrp bump that will likely be a...
