I just want to confirm that adding eco and sport modes work with my FX4 with 4K towing.

I didn't use easy mode. I followed the main post and used method 2 disabling the drive mode selector and adding all the modes.

When I changed the two values I got a warning that I had an incorrect hash value. I canceled out and redid the changes just to be safe and got the same warning. After accepting the write my dash cluster went haywire and the check engine light came on and I got 2 yellow warnings. But after turning the truck key off and starting the truck the warnings and check engine light went away.

I verified both modes were working by going down the road in cruise control. In eco mode the RPMs were under 2,000 after I changed to sport mode the RPMs went to 3500.

Sport mode is pretty zippy compared to the normal mode but I can see it using a ton of gas.

After adding sport and eco to my FX4, I expected to drive mostly in eco mode. But I've been using sport 99% of the time, still averaging 23-24 mpg and getting 30-31 on the highway. Also I disabled the open door chime, driver's seat belt chime and auto start/stop. The latter is still enabled for eco mode, I guess because it's an integral part of that mode. In other words, you can't have eco mode without auto start/stop. The only time I drive without seatbelt is when I'm going slow off-road in the desert, also sometimes I like to open the door with engine running and not have warnings beeping every minute.

I wish I could disable all modes except for Sport
Finally got around to unlocking sport mode (and eco) and the truck is proper now

I never thought of that. I'm used to starting out and hitting the mode button 5x to put it in Sport mode. Since we are able to add (and I assume remove) Sport and Eco modes, I wonder if we could remove other modes that came with the truck. Since I paid for the FX4, I definitely want Slippery, Sand, Mud & Ruts modes for offroad and driving in snow. But it would be nice to have Sport the default.

I already ordered the parts off Amazon to do this. It reminds me of those 80s healthkit project boxes lol. Not many of those timer boards left on Amazon. If you want to do this you better order quick. The 2 boards are like $16 total plus tax.
It does.
I’m working on an Arduino solution to disable auto start/stop, it will be fairly simple to extend it for drive modes. I might even try it. I have the parts list about done. After I get those ordered and it working, I’ll create a thread.

You can disable auto start/stop for free in Forscan, all but Eco mode. I've done it.

I bought the auto start stop plug in thing before knowing about being able to disable it. I plan on running on eco mode most times but dont want the engine to turn off. It creeps me out.

For some reason I thought it had side effects. That it was not the same as pressing the buttons. I’ll poke around the forum more.

Forscan doesn't disable auto s/s, it just turns it off. If I look down at the button, it shows that it's off, but I can manually push the button and turn it back on. If there are side effects, I'd like to know. I haven't seen any.

It only turns off the button not the system. The auto start stop accumulator on the transmission will still function and shut off as long as the PCM or BCM? I forgot which module sees it connected. The module actual on off setting is stored in non persisent memory portion of one of those 2 modules. The BMS (battery management system) sets that setting in the module on every start. With that said there are a few ways to keep the A/S from activating. The only one I would recommend is the following because it is known issue on other Fords and doesn't seem to cause issues because it is far as I know actually an engineered off solution for a specific problem.

What you do is you hook up a bad battery to the truck and start it a few times. How many times I don't know but do know you do it enough the BMS will set it to disabled and write that setting from there on in to the PCM or BCM? module on every startup from there on in. Put your good battery back in, no A/S activation at all regardless of whether you the press the console button or not. The only way to reset it is to reset the BMS sensor itself. The BMS reset is also supposed to be done when you put a new battery in.

That is one thing I thought couldn’t be done, turn it back on. Thought it was a permanent disable.
So every time you start up, it defaults to off? Even in Normal mode? I pretty sure once you switch to Sport mode, Auto S/S gets disabled by the system anyway.
