My Brother in law bought a 2019 escape. The battery in it is 2/3 the way under the cowling and you cannot even see the negative post.🤔
Same way on my wife's Escape. Lot of places want to take the cowling off but if you take the air box out which is a lot easier you can get to the battery.

They don’t have to remove the seat to get to the 12v battery. You lift the seat, and remove the plastic cover and the battery is right there. I’d argue that getting to it is just as easy as getting to a battery that was placed under the hood.
well they're not doing it for free - it is easy to locate however it would appear that there is some effort required to remove and replace the hold down screw with more than a few describing it as sort of a pain in that there's not much space in that deep box to get the proper socket on it.

I haven't experienced any of the issues. Not all Mavericks are lemons.
I have a 3 year old hybrid Maverick with 15,000 miles that I park for a month or two every winter without any trickle charger. Never had a problem with the battery or the truck not starting.

Has anyone found that the battery was more susceptible to dying from a lot of short trips where the battery didn't get charged enough, or perhaps sat for long periods? Mine has given low charge msg. twice, when I was doing a lot of short tripping. Coincidence?
I may get a tender; is there any consensus which might be the best one or are they all more or less the same???
I have several Battery Tender (BT) units. They have all been used a lot, one is 16 years old and has been on almost constantly for about 13 years. None have failed.

Another brand that gets good reviews is Battery Minder.

Both brands use standard SAE 12 volt connectors which makes connecting an extension cable or changing from O-rings to alligator clips to a 12V plug easy.

Noco on the other hand, uses proprietary connectors -- which means you must buy all accessories from them. If you want to switch to SAE, they'll sell you an adapter -- for $20!

I use Battery Tender brand and they have one that is good for AGM and Lithium batteries...42 dollars at Advance auto

The Hybrid EV battery is. Not the 12v battery underneath your back seat. The sleep issue has a thread so long it reaches the planet Saturn! Many will suggest you buy your own battery (an AGM battery, not another wet cell battery) for $200 or less, and then have your neighbor's mechanically inclined youth install it and buy him/her a pizza. Or someone you trust.

And before all of my fellow members attack me, I have to say this or I will become the scourge of the community. The AGM battery won't solve the problem, but it will last longer that another wet cell battery. I have had one since May of 2024 and the battery is doing fine. Yes, I get the occasional sleep message, but my wet cell battery didn't last 2 months before it completely died.

Ford is working on a fix for this. Stay tuned.
Well..... An AGM battery has fixed mine. Was well worth the 125.00 spent at that time to fix what Ford has not. Easy install, not sure how they could justify the 900.00 battery change with the same inadequate flooded cell battery.

2024 Hybrid. Been having battery saver mode for a while. Took in to dealer, came away wth new BAGM*H4 battery. No hassles. Kings Ford - Cincinnati. Great service.

My 2023 12v was just replaced under warranty. It is just under three years old and 32k miles.
Some members have had them replaced on their bumper to bumper 3/36k warranty.

OP was not under that warranty.

I have so many questions lol.

The hybrid battery has nothing to do with deep sleep issues, that's the 12v, and the Ecoboost has the same issue. Charging $900 to replace a 12v battery when all they're doing is swapping the battery in and resetting the BMS is fucking insane. That literally just sounds like the dealer quoting such a high price because they don't want to do the work.

If it was the actual hybrid battery pack, it would also probably be a few thousand give or take.

They are definitely talking about your 12V battery rather than your hybrid battery. No way the hybrid battery would cost $900 lol. At the same time, $900 to install a 12V is insane. Buy the AGM one off Amazon for $150, install it yourself, do the BMS reset, and save a lot of $$$
Or go to Walmart, they have an AGM for $190
Installation is free and it is pro rated for 4 years.
Thats right FOUR years.
Think about it !

You can repeatedly attempt to desulfate a battery, but its lifespan will be limited. You can only do a successful reconditioning a few times before performance degrades permanently. Repeated desulfation can damage the battery by causing it to overcharge, overheat, or lose electrolyte, especially if the battery's internal components are already deteriorated. Soft sulfation (reversible) may be corrected, but hard sulfation (permanent) requires battery replacement.
This one is better:

Hmmmm says in it's description that it's not a charger and is for batteries that are regularly charged. Might be useful IF AND WHEN Ford fixes the charging!
Repeated use of a so-called "de-sulfinator" is damaging to a battery.
