  1. After 2 years, I’m back!

Likewise, while keeping this on topic, regarding vehicles and road maintenance, I think that electric vehicles are getting a free ride and there should be a way to get them to pay their fair share of road maintenance that the rest of us using gasoline and diesel are paying for. And by the way...
  2. After 2 years, I’m back!

SALES TAX: In rural Utah, the average combined sales tax is roughly 6.10% to 6.35%. This is slightly lower than the statewide average of 7.42%, as many rural areas skip the higher local mass transit or resort taxes found in major cities. A breakdown of the local and state factors: Base State...
  3. After 2 years, I’m back!

Good gravy! If your screen name is reflective of your state it must be Virginia. Our state does not charge any personal property tax at all on vehicles and our counties cannot charge any fee. What is your state doing with all that money? Despite not bilking it's residents like your state, our...
  4. After 2 years, I’m back!

Glad ours doesn't do that. They do charge more, as they should, for completely electric vehicles (i.e. Tesla and E-Mustangs, etc.) since they use the roads and wear down the asphalt but don't pay any state gasoline taxes. In the metropolitan area in northern Utah, they used to let a hybrid...
  5. After 2 years, I’m back!

Why would a state charge more for a hybrid? What state are you in? Utah doesn't do that. Our annual registration on our vehicles is very reasonable. Our 2023 Lariat w/Lux hybrid FWD was $297 back in November. Our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4x4 long bed truck was $130.50 last summer and our...
  6. Maverick Rear speaker questions

The B&O is much more than just adequate. It rivals the similar high-end Bose audio system we had in a previous Cadillac DTS we owned. Both are excellently implemented audio systems.
  7. Wife upstages me

    Ewe spelled hear rong. :ROFLMAO:
  8. Wife upstages me

If he secretly tries to swap his crummy old XLT with her awesome fully loaded brand new Lariat (with the sliding power rear window no less), I don't think he needs to know what the difference between "Lariat" and "Laramie" is. Once she finds out about the bait and switch, I think she would...
  9. Maintenance and What Breaks Warranty?

The Maverick tail The Maverick tailgate weighs all of 45 lbs. Hardly necessary.
  10. Quick option for a bed mat!

Home Depot has a thick black mat on sale really inexpensively right now that will fit perfectly in the bed and give you the protection you are looking for
  11. Maintenance and What Breaks Warranty?

Never do a transmission "flush". Just a drain and fill. The suspension parts are raw metal. It is normal for them to develop surface rust. Have you not ever seen a 30 year old undercarriage of any Ford truck or Bronco? It absolutely has no effect on the structural integrity of the suspension...
  12. Extended Warranty Thread about Years to get

These warranties don't start at the end of the factory warranty. They run concurrently. When the vehicle reaches 8 years or 75,000 miles (in your example) the extended warranty expires.
  13. 🥊 Rampage vs. Maverick -- expected price, size dimensions, powertrain, features comparison

What do you have? An XL? The seats in the hybrid Maverick Lariat are very comfortable.
  14. Dirtbike hauling & Boat towing

One needs to account for the downward force when the vehicle hits bumps or pot holes, or is driven on washboard dirt roads. The tailgate weight rating is for a static load, not dynamic loading.
  15. Dirtbike hauling & Boat towing

That's a lot of weight on the tailgate, especially if you hit any bumps in the road. Why not put a two foot wide by 3/4" plywood that spans from the front wheel to the back of the tailgate? That would help spread out the load.
  16. 2022 Maverick Ecoboost - 190,000 Mile Review!

Good gravy! Our 1996 Ford Bronco XLT just reached 190,000 miles after 30 years. Our 2023 Maverick Lariat hybrid just reached 18,000 after 2 1/2 years. That guy must love driving.
  17. California Tesla adapter

"Free" charging at Target paid by all the rest of us by increasing prices. Nothing is "free", someone is paying for it. Industrial-scale solar is an absolute scam. The amount of energy and environmental damage by the manufacturing of the panels and limited lifespan coupled with the fact that...
  18. California Tesla adapter

I know all about them. The main failure of them is their inadequate range and lack of charging stations (you must not live in the rural western U.S. or travel to far off places well off the freeway routes) versus reliable fuel powered vehicles and the status of the inadequate electrical grid in...
  19. California Tesla adapter

Love the letter from Ford in the background. Glad that the electric "revolution" is coming to an end. Gasoline won. "Electric-only" cars were always just a gimmick.
  20. Auto hold

Or for that yellow plastic hand on a stick that is on all of those YouTube car crash videos that taps on the screen showing where to look at or who is at fault. 👋
