I did just that. Went to Tractor Supply and bought a receiver and with a couple plates cut and some welding had a hitch. Cost about $50 in supplies.Ok, Was able to do the measurement. The rectangular tube measures 3-5/16" X 2". Reality is the crash bar is the exact size of the hitch without the dropdown receiver. It would be super easy for a welder to just add a receiver to the crash bar!
Thanks for the measurements. You are on track to where I am headed. My plan is to weld on the receiver like one you can buy for a Jeep JK/JU for 50.00. I may have to modify the width but I am sure there are some applications that are already 2.00'' wide. Need to do some more research to find a direct fit.Ok, Was able to do the measurement. Good job making that work. Did you have to do the wire flip on both sides or just the one? Was it the brake light and turn signal that was reversed?I ordered the E- Trailor kit for the Bronco Sport. Easy install but you have to change the wires going to the new module. You also have to run a wire to the + post on the battery. The splitters pug right up to the taillights. You have to cut the red and brown wires going to the new module. Then tie the red to brown and the brown to the red. This worked for me, but I am not liable for your install. You do not have to splice into the truck wiring harness. Here you can see the splitter plugged into the taillights and the red and brown wires going to the new module redone. Hope this works for you. It did for me.

Only on the module side. You mount the module on the driver side.Good job making that work. Did you have to do the wire flip on both sides or just the one? Was it the brake light and turn signal that was reversed?
@finallygotamaverick Can you clarify for @ShadowBlack XL440 and I what the brown and red wire are (blinker or brake, etc)? And how did you figure that out, with a voltage tester or a wiring diagram? Thx. My Ford Escape etrailer kit (# TE54FR ) should show up in a day or so.Good job making that work. Did you have to do the wire flip on both sides or just the one? Hey Ado. I used a meter and 50 years experience to figure it out. Now I used the Bronco Sport one so it may be different than the Escape.@finallygotamaverick Can you clarify for @ShadowBlack XL440 and I what the brown and red wire are (blinker or brake, etc)? You will need a Ball mount and ball.If we bought a Lariat Lux it says it comes with the class 4 hitch. If so, all I need to buy is the ball, correct?
@RonR1959 @finallygotamaverick Sadly, I can confirm that the 2022 Ford Escape kit will not work. The male-female connectors are slightly different. Next step, either the Bronco Sport one that @finallygotamaverick made work, and checking with the kit manufacturers on ETAs for Mav specific.Im about to order it, just trying to decide the Escape or the Bronco Sport......haha
****Updated**** Just ordered the T Connector wiring harness for the 2022 Ford Escape: https://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit...Escape/2022/TE54FR.html?VehicleID=20225001399
If anyone one else is gonna try this, order the Bronco Sport one so we can get a cross reference![]()
I ordered the Curt wiring harness for the Bronco Sport. It just came in Friday. I’m taking it to get it installed Wednesday morning. Hopefully it works.@RonR1959 @finallygotamaverick Sadly, I can confirm that the 2022 Ford Escape kit will not work. The male-female connectors are slightly different. We're making this easier for all others in the same boat. Thx again for sharing your efforts.
Sweet Ron, please post the outcome!I ordered the Curt wiring harness for the Bronco Sport. It just came in Friday. I’m taking it to get it installed Wednesday morning. Hopefully it works.
Works like a charm!! The only thing is you need to cut and splice the red and brown wires on the wiring harness itself.Sweet Ron, please post the outcome!
Somebody said the Escape harness won't work but the Bronco Sport will. Can't confirm that as fact but it's a good place to startFrom what I have read so far, It looks like the E-Trailer Harness may be the only option!
It seems like there's a lot of Bronco Sport crossover parts as they are built on the same PlatformThe Maverick isn't rated for much more than the typical Class 3 hitch can handle, and those can be bolted on. Here's an example for the Bronco Sport.
