No regrets. I would order it the same way if my options were the same. I do love the XLT wheels I added though (MTC member takeoffs).
I have the Lariat, and I love the XLT wheels …..son has the XLT, so I can’t compare my Lariat to the XL. My truck was a retirement gift from my wife, and was a total surprise…she knew I liked the Maverick because I said I wanted a truck like my son’s. I used to own a Ranger (1995) and loved it despite all its faults. The Maverick reminds me of the Old Ranger with all the issues fixed (except off road 4x4 stuff - you will never get the Maverick 4x4 to compete with the Ranger set up off-road.

I purchased the XL in July of 21 and it arrived March of 22. The interior look was grey and black . The XLT had the grey and orange interior details that didn’t suit my color taste. The hybrid @$20K was unbeatable and my son got my 02 single cab Tacoma (assembled in California). Paid cash and purchased the extended warranty (out the door with tax & license $25.5k).

Given that it's pretty much an auto parts delivery truck?
serious answer:

there were definitely some folks with '22 XLs that didn't realize the trucks lacked cruise control, and some/most of those folks bought aftermarket rostra or just added on the factory cruise with forscan and the steering wheel button pod.

there was a second wave of annoyance about this when one of the recalls reflashed the BCM and the setting to enable cruise was lost. there were a lot of XL owners who didn't even know this had been done with their trucks.

there is still the odd complaint here and there about people without copilot 360 who are annoyed at manual / non-powered side mirrors. I haven't had a vehicle without cruise or powered mirrors since I was a teen and that was a damn long time ago.

After almost 2 years, no regrets about going with the XL, but I do regret not getting the copilot 360 option which would have given me power side mirrors.

Waiting for the "Has anyone ever regretted getting a XLT?" And "Has anyone ever regretted getting a Tremor?" topics next.
I kinda wish I would’ve gotten an XL and put on some different rims. That’s what the XLT basically is anyway.

Best thread ever. OP has a sense of humor. Now, if we can only merge this with the "Anybody regret buying a Lariat" thread, we can have another amusing civil war on MTC.

It's like The Matrix. I think we're on the twentieth iteration of the "you're dumb if you bought a Lariat" vs "you're dumb (and cheap) if you bought an XL" thread.

Us XLT guys are in the middle watching the heavy artillery fly back and forth over our heads.

The only threads better than XL vs Lariat are the BEV threads and anything that dares say "Santa Cruz" in the thread title. Oh wait, I forgot the recent nuclear thread option - mentioning tariffs.
And Lobo and Tremor guys are sitting back laughing, with the "Maverick isn't a $20000 truck anymore" guys just waiting to post another thread. I purposely forgot the "tariff" posters.

I regret not being born John Wayne. But I've gotten over it. It took 60 years, but I got there.

Actually, my first order was for an XL. After realizing I might wait a year or more I starting hunting around. Got my XLT w/lux pkg and moonroof five weeks later at a local dealer whose buyer had bailed on his order. I would've been OK with the XL but have to admit heated steering wheel is very nice for our cold winters (I had planned to buy heated 12V seat covers for the XL). Other than that, naturally the upgraded rims and other small bells and whistles are nice but not super necessary. It's one's personal preference. :)

For 2025 you get intelligent access and push button start which are modern nice to have. The XL is great but Ford's pricing structure is so ridiculous that you always have to sacrifice something.

I found I wanted and liked stuff like AC/Cruise/Blind spot monitor.. so in the long run I ended up in the XLT... I didnt need anything the Lariat had.. The ONLY thing I currently wish my XLT had and doesnt was the tow package(or at least a hitch..thats a must im gonna have to get one) and again while not a deal breaker a electric rear window woulda been nice..
I got the XL luxury package. My XL includes AC/cruise/power mirrors, blind spot, hitch :sneaky:
Steel wheels are awesome. Most things I've driven were on steel and field weighted.

- Looking poor is a desired feature for some 😉
- What's a car payment?

Lol, if there where just an "X" I would have bought that. All cars break, I just want the least amount of crap to break.
My post was typed tongue and cheek. Poverty Edition has been a running joke on these forums for a while.

Could have paid cash, but I financed half the truck as a nice piece of land adjacent to mine became available and I really wanted to increase the size of my build site. Those of you who found an early 22 XL EB AWD 4K at MSRP really won out... They were so inexpensive... and if it had the sunroof and rear slider too.... Wow... I looked for a very long time... no dice at MSRP.

Yeah, I rocked the stripper Nissan Frontier XE 2WD 5spd Manual for many years. I really appreciate my Maverick having all of that crap that breaks... and was willing to pay for it. 😉
I was running with your tongue in cheek, it's all good. Sometimes I reply to someone because their comment is a good opener for my thoughts but my post is just for the general thread.

Sounds like we are both in grass is greener situation. I came from a car with bells and whistles I wanted. Realized they just haunted me down the line. Sunroof is a good example. After dealing with a few leaks I specifically avoided it this time around. Likely next car I'll be wanting one and you won't 😁.

I honestly do like the fact that my rims say without saying...
- nothing here to steal, move along
- not a target for a brake check insurance scam
- etc
🤣 It's a feature!

That is the one thing I wish my XL had. Most of the other stuff is relatively easy to add to the XL, if you really want it, but this is not.

Ain't this the truth. I ordered my Maverick without a sunroof, a first for me since every other vehicle I've had either had one or was a convertible. I'm already feeling anxiety over not getting it, even though I rarely ever open them on my existing vehicles! Oh well, I'm not re-ordering, so maybe next time.
