  1. If they made a full EV Maverick, would you buy, switch? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

The latest news coming out of CA is that they've been able to power the entire state with renewable energy for between 30 minutes and 6 hours for 30 consecutive days. That's pretty cool. It's not 24x7x365, but it's kind of cool anyway.
  2. Exploring Portugal's Roads: Seeking Pickup Truck Alternatives

Oh, and don't take photos of sheepherders without permission. We had a crewmember do that once, and the herder came after him with an axe on the public street. We were all ROTFL, because the crewmember had arrogantly ignored our cultural in briefing. We just watched him run for his life as we...
  3. Exploring Portugal's Roads: Seeking Pickup Truck Alternatives

I lived in Germany for two years as USAF, and traveled Europe extensively. I echo the advice above. Get the smallest vehicle you can live with. Gas is crazy expensive. And unless you stick to major roads, you're gonna get something like the Maverick wedged between two buildings. The roads in...
  4. Maybe I should have kept my ‘22 Mav?

This thread makes me chuckle a bit in sadness. Not at the OP's problem, but because last Thursday's "Autoline After Hours" segment was "Why Can't OEMs Write Software?" https://www.autoline.tv/after-hours/aah-691-software-defined-vehicles-how-theyre-changing-the-car-you-drive/
  5. Maybe I should have kept my ‘22 Mav?

OP, please take 30 seconds and report to NHTSA at the link in the previous post. You'll be helping the whole community. It really is 30 seconds - I've filled one out myself.
  6. Total loss of power.

We got what we paid for.
  7. Consider me surprised - Maverick didn't make the list of "cars" in USA under $25K with all fees

At first I thought Maverick didn't make the list because it was a list of the cheapest -cars- in the USA, and the Maverick is a truck. Then I checked the price for an absolute base 2024 Maverick - the cheapest you can configure. My jaw dropped when I saw that, including 6% sales taxes, delivery...
  8. Ford recalls 456K vehicles due to loss of drive power (undetected low battery issue); includes 2022-2023 Maverick Ecoboost & Hybrid

It's ironic that this afternoon's Autoline After Hours is about how bad OEMs suck at software.
  9. 840 Miles • 1 Tank Fuel • Hybrid Maverick

Too bad he's not driving a BEV. Then it would be 84,000 miles = 0 tank fulls.
  10. First Flat in Thirty-Five Years

Try building a new home. The contractors scatter nails of every imaginable type everywhere. I went over the area around the house daily with a fancy rolling nail magnet widget, and we still got multiple flats. I sometimes wondered if the guys just threw handfuls of nails into the air for...
  11. Maverick destroys sales of Santa Cruz and every other compact-midsize pickup in Q1 2024

In other news, Maverick fanboys are gloating that their Mavericks are blowing the competition out of the water by having the most recalls.
  12. Thinking about giving up

" I'm very bad at what's known as catastrophizing. That's basically my brain running through worst case scenarios 24/7 " OP, you would have made a great military aviator. We stayed alive by doing exactly what you're doing. Anticipate and prepare for problems. Optimistic aviators die young.
  13. Crash! Insurance will probably total it

In the world of trucks, we call that "patina". It's a badge of honor.
  14. Major Power Outage... Thank God I have a Hybrid

Guys with Ford Lightnings were powering their whole houses for days during major power outages there last year. I spent $15,000 on a Kohler whole house generator system on my last house. I skipped that expense this house, knowing I'll soon to have a full BEV with bidirectional charging able to...
  15. When Can I Order a 2025 Maverick?

Same as the OP. Gonna order my 2025 this fall if I like the refresh (I'll also test drive the refreshed SC just for grins). But I'm in zero hurry - I'm still enjoying another 18 months of 0% financing incentive from Ford. So I'm one of the few on this forum who will have his fingers crossed...
  16. A chip that turned into an 18 inch crack

These things can be stopped while still a chip by having most insurance companies send out a mobile repair truck to inject some stabilizing material. Takes 15 minutes and it is usually free. And it saves everyone time and angst and money.
  17. Purchased my 2nd Maverick last week - 24 Lariat Tremor

love that cyber orange. Wish they'd kept it in the lineup.
  18. Ford Maverick Coolant All Gone - Broke Down

I once had a 93 RX7 R1. Driving down the freeway one day the coolant light suddenly came on. I hit a gas station right there and refilled it, but I noticed it was just flowing through the engine and leaving a pool of coolant on the asphalt. Turns out a safety plug in the water pump had blown...
  19. Thinking of trading in 22 hybrid for 24

Off topic, but I can't help remembering the funny barn story at the end of Saving Private Ryan, where the punchline is "Don't do it! You have your whole life in front of you!". I'll probably be trading in my 2022 for a 2025 if the updates are appealing enough. But part of me is saying "I have a...
  20. Why are so many waiting so long for a car? Lots of them around here.

An earlier post about "on the lot" prices versus "on the internet" prices rang true with me. I was shopping for a Santa Cruz when my Maverick "in build" email arrived a year ago. The SC was being advertised at $5,000 over MSRP. On the lot, and I know this because I was on the lot, the SC was...
