I just went outside and looked at how my Maverick windows, door handles, and door were arranged. I came away with the same conclusion. There's a styling trend towards raising beltlines and shrinking visibility over the last decade, but not that severely.
I plan to sell my trusted Maverick EB for the new Ford EV truck, probably late 2027. It would have to be a genuine stinker to change my plans.
That said, as someone who predicted that Maverick sales would drop every quarter for the last four years... I'm finally throwing in the towel. I've...
This story reminds me of something I was taught way back in the 1960s as I learned to drive with manual transmissions. We were taught, when parking on slopes, to always turn the wheel so the vehicle would back into something (like a curb or a tree) that would stop it. Because back then, vehicles...
As someone who has had two Ford trucks where the rodents or squirrels at through wiring ($600 repair), I have a request for the Ford Torture Testing Crew...
Lock the trucks in a room filled with hungry mice and squirrels for the night.
I would give editing advice, since I was an English Lit major in college. The only problem is that I was the suckiest English Lit major in the USA. My advisor had to teach me things like the difference between "it's" and "its" and so on. She tried to make me literate. She failed. She probably...
I echo the road trip goodness. My wife has a Volvo that cost twice what my Maverick does. My Maverick has more room and has vastly more comfortable seats (and Volvos are famous for comfy seats). For interstate road trips, I pick the Maverick every time.
I read this and was totally unimpressed with both the author and his premise. He seems to be unaware of the Ford Skunkworks BEV due to be announced at the 12 January Detroit Auto Show and on sale June 2027. He also seems unaware that CAFE targets have been relaxed. He doesn't know the difference...
My ecoboost grew on me. It was an unwanted child when I first got it. Too frigging big and not electric and not two doors. And I hate automatic transmissions in general.
What would rock my boat? If Ford (not Slate) releases a truly small two-door electric truck in the not-too-distant future...
Ford Mobile Service is the only way to go (well, unless you have OTA). It's a hit nationwide, and they're expanding it, and it does not cost extra. If your dealer doesn't do it, you need a new dealer (I know that's not easy in some rural locations).
I haven't been to my dealership since I...
I wonder what the thread message limit is. Because 500,000+ people (and counting) have purchased Mavericks. If 1 in 100 comment, that's 5,000 messages in this thread before we're finished.
>> I realized long ago that people often steal stuff simply because they can, not necessarily because it is worth anything.
I used to live on 20 acres in the CT seashore. I had a nasty old iron-porcelain tub sitting in the front acres, leftover from when it was a farm (watering the animals)...
TBH, I never wanted a Maverick. It was the least bad option available in 2022, and I needed a new ride. What I really wanted was a modern, AWD, 2-door, extended cab (not crew cab), electric truck that was no bigger than my 2010 Ranger 2 door (189"). The cancelled VW Tarok would have been ideal...
>> If they can rebuild it they will most likely correct all the engineering screw ups the tramsmission has.
This rhymes with something a former GM transmission engineer once said on Autoline (I think it was on that show). He explained that the suppliers design and test reliable, robust...
I won't be buying an Ecoboost next, which will make the OP happy. I'll be trading my Ecoboost for the new Ford BEV trucklet. But not until it's been out a year or so.
If you based your buying decisions on angry posts by disgruntled owners on any vehicle forum, you'd never buy any car. You'd...
There are a few topics guaranteed to make a thread explode on MTC. One is to dare say that anything electric could possibly be a good purchase.
But the most reliable is to suggest that any other automaker would dare to challenge the Maverick's preordained ascension to Automotive Heaven by...
You're not allowed to say that on MTC. It's like asking your date if she just farted. There are certain inconvenient truths we don't acknowledge here.
I'd join you to point out that that very many Toyotas and Hondas and Nissans and Mercedes and Volvos and more are built in the USA. Here in the...
With rare exceptions, if Toyota builds it, it will sell.
But I lived through the small pickup craze last century. It was partly a demographic thing with young male Boomers like me. It ran its course. We transitioned to other vehicles, and that market slowly collapsed. Though I'm sure CAFE...
