Best thread ever. OP has a sense of humor. Now, if we can only merge this with the "Anybody regret buying a Lariat" thread, we can have another amusing civil war on MTC.

It's like The Matrix. I think we're on the twentieth iteration of the "you're dumb if you bought a Lariat" vs "you're dumb (and cheap) if you bought an XL" thread.

Us XLT guys are in the middle watching the heavy artillery fly back and forth over our heads.

The only threads better than XL vs Lariat are the BEV threads and anything that dares say "Santa Cruz" in the thread title. Oh wait, I forgot the recent nuclear thread option - mentioning tariffs.
No, you XLT guys are neither hot nor cold, so we spit you out.

(I kid, I kid, and this was for those who know their Bibles)

There's a birds vs. beasts story reference we could use here, too.

I had been looking for an XL when I was first in the market, however I ended up getting a XLT. The only thing I think I may have regretted was not having the pull down armrests and cupholder in the back seat. So many people end up using it or needing it when back there. There are aftermarket cupholders that you can get to put back there so in the long run not a big deal.... I just didn't expect it to get as much use as it does

No regrets. Really like the vehicle and appreciate the few additional upgrades that came with the Lariat model.

I had a '23 XL truck for almost a year. The price was right, but as a long-term vehicle, it was indeed the poverty pack of the Maverick lineup. I traded it in, and now I have a '25 XLT w/lux & 360. I am much happier with the new vehicle despite the additional cost for the long term.

Love my 2024 XL hybrid minus all bs recalls.
averaging 35 mpg combined highway and city driving. Truck bed is there when needed.

I upgraded to 18 wheels and tires of my choice. Mine has cruise control and co pilot 360

I dont do any off roading or camping.

2022 XL hybrid w a back window. Got it in Jan of 22. Always wanted the darker interior and getting aftermarket wheels wasn’t an issue for me. Added limo tints a trifold bed cover and the truck is just exactly how I envisioned it. Only regret was not getting a moonroof when it was an option for the xl but I’m not losing sleep over it. All for the sweet price of 21k at the time after the addition of copilot 360.

No. I optioned it the way I want and bought my own wheels and accessories.

it has everything the xlt has except for a rear seat armrest and ugly interior colors , but thousands of dollars cheaper

Never a single regret. Ford made the decision for me. I could not abide the funky Coleman Cooler white dash/door inserts and the orange trim that "helped me find/determine the function" of the dash vents, door handles and cell phone holder. (That's roughly what the lady said in the 2021 Ford video announcing the Maverick LOL ) So if the XLT had offered a black or grey interior option I'd have spent the extra on the XLT since I wanted mag wheels and cruise control anyway. Probably would have purchased the Luxury package for the heated seats.

Instead I purchased an XL and got after market heated seats, cruise control and custom wheels. All said I spent $2945 less than an XLT with the lux package and got all the things I wanted and none I didn't. As well as what many believe - including a ton of the reviews at the time - the better looking, most truck like interior.

Those that purchased a 2023 the decision should have been even easier, since Ford generously enabled (it was always there) cruise control on the XL.

In writing my reply I took a look at my notes on what I paid for my 2022 XL Hybrid. Kinda eye opening. The Maverick is still a solid value in 2025 - but those of us that bought 2022's and 2023's got the bargains. Assuming you paid MSRP. But then the great majority who only paid MSRP also waited a LONG time for their trucks...

XL = Xtra Lively! That Ecoboost engine really moves and gets good mpg!!!! Regret is not something that I have regarding my purchase.

⬇ See my sig for the extras that were really important to me.
Another one of the big reasons:

I added Cruse Control, wheels and leather seats for a fraction of the cost of a XLT or Lariat.

Only minor regret is the lack of heated seats. I know I can add them, but when I realized how much I missed it, it was below 15 degrees out and didn't feel like spending that much time to install them out in the cold. I was quoted $1200 to have them installed at a non-dealer and decided I could suffer through the past winter and install them myself in the spring to save $1K

I put used aftermarket rims on them $200 ($100 for the set of rims from a Fusion plus $100 to swap out the tires). Only options I got on my Xl hybrid was the tow hitch and copilot.

Once I get the heated seats installed, feel it'll have everything I need

$1200 is awfully high for after market heated seats. At least around here. More than one shop will do heated seats it in this area. So if you can shop around. Places that do custom sound systems, remote start and obviously those that do upholstery in cars should be able to do it.

I had Rostra Cruise control and heated seats (front driver and passenger - also from Rostra) done at a shop for $1120.
