No, you XLT guys are neither hot nor cold, so we spit you out.Best thread ever. OP has a sense of humor. Now, if we can only merge this with the "Anybody regret buying a Lariat" thread, we can have another amusing civil war on MTC.
It's like The Matrix. I think we're on the twentieth iteration of the "you're dumb if you bought a Lariat" vs "you're dumb (and cheap) if you bought an XL" thread.
Us XLT guys are in the middle watching the heavy artillery fly back and forth over our heads.
The only threads better than XL vs Lariat are the BEV threads and anything that dares say "Santa Cruz" in the thread title. Oh wait, I forgot the recent nuclear thread option - mentioning tariffs.
Another one of the big reasons:![]()
See my sig for the extras that were really important to me.
. . . if the XLT had offered a black or grey interior option I'd have spent the extra on the XLT
. . .
Instead I purchased an XL and got after market heated seats, cruise control and custom wheels. All said I spent $2945 less than an XLT with the lux package and got all the things I wanted and none I didn't. As well as what many believe - including a ton of the reviews at the time - the better looking, most truck like interior.
. . .
In writing my reply I took a look at my notes on what I paid for my 2022 XL Hybrid. Kinda eye opening. The Maverick is still a solid value in 2025 - but those of us that bought 2022's and 2023's got the bargains. Assuming you paid MSRP. But then the great majority who only paid MSRP also waited a LONG time for their trucks...
$1200 is awfully high for after market heated seats. At least around here. More than one shop will do heated seats it in this area. So if you can shop around. Places that do custom sound systems, remote start and obviously those that do upholstery in cars should be able to do it.Only minor regret is the lack of heated seats. I know I can add them, but when I realized how much I missed it, it was below 15 degrees out and didn't feel like spending that much time to install them out in the cold. I was quoted $1200 to have them installed at a non-dealer and decided I could suffer through the past winter and install them myself in the spring to save $1K
I put used aftermarket rims on them $200 ($100 for the set of rims from a Fusion plus $100 to swap out the tires). Only options I got on my Xl hybrid was the tow hitch and copilot.
Once I get the heated seats installed, feel it'll have everything I need
