Given that it's pretty much an auto parts delivery truck?
I debated it..I was like all I really need are the "basic" amenities. My first truck even was a 1995(first model year 1st off the dealer lot) Toyota Tacoma it was the 5 speed stripper model... basic am/fm and cassette, no AC roll down windows, it was a 4x4 with you lockem hubs. All I ever added was a bed liner and soft tonneau cover.

I sat this because I was fine with that truck..going back to the XL vs higher range models..So I said would I me ok with that.. at first I was like..yeah why not and save.. then the more I thought about it.. I found I wanted and liked stuff like AC/Cruise/Blind spot monitor.. so in the long run I ended up in the XLT... I didnt need anything the Lariat had.. The ONLY thing I currently wish my XLT had and doesnt was the tow package(or at least a hitch..thats a must im gonna have to get one) and again while not a deal breaker a electric rear window woulda been nice..

So no id rather have the XLT in my old age... learning from having the "stripper" model in the past...I realize ive become more accustomed to a few things and like those in a vehicle..I by no means need garbage like that ACC, lane keeping/centering(turned off on al that have had it including the maverick), Sun roofs(mine has but I would like if it didnt but again not a deal breaker..just something else to break and that i seldom lose)

I’ll admit it, to me some of us Lariat guys sound like stuck up snobs.
For 2.37 seconds I considered an XL I was sitting in.
Then I sat in my Lariat, and thought, ‘The wife will never let me get this one.

I suddenly remembered who wears the pants in the family then I begged the sales lady to talk to my wife and get her to let me have this Lariat.

She pulled it off.
The Hot Pepper Red color and the fact it was parked inside on the show room under excellent lighting was a factor I think.

I would have been fine with the XL but very happy with my Lariat.

The XL IMHO is the far better choice for the tinkering crowd. I’m just not that.
Nice choice on the color, HPR is one the few that go well with the brown interior. When I pre-ordered the XLT in Sep 2022 the Black Appearance Package wasn't even announced yet, it showed up on the price sheet at the dealer. I really couldn't justify adding a BAP and a Luxury package on top of the Lariat cost, so stuck with an optioned out XLT. The only thing I regret is a lack of push button start but wasn't worth an extra $3,500 to get it.

Waiting for the "Has anyone ever regretted getting a XLT?" And "Has anyone ever regretted getting a Tremor?" topics next.
Ultimately I don't regret getting the Tremor because it led me to my 2025 Lariat.

I originally ordered an XL Hybrid with a moonroof and CP360. Re-ordered the Hybrid XL again losing my moonroof but I figured I would deal. Was told the XL Hybrid wasn't going to happen and they introduced the Tremor so I figured why not if I am not getting my Hybrid I might as well order the off road version.

I never expected to buy it, but I loved it and had to buy it. However after 14k miles the love had fallen away due to the poor MPG, low tow and payload capacity, and the Connected Radio or whatever Sync2.5 lite is in my XLT Lux Tremor was unbearable. When the AWD Hybrid was announced I knew it was the truck for me, and the Lariat.

I would have been happy with the XL except for one thing: Cruise control. The boss would not let me buy without, so XLT it was. Happy with what I have, and would only delete the sliding window.\ Very happy with the fuel mileage, but I seem to be able to get better fuel mileage than The Boss no matter highway or in town,
Once I found I could have added cruise so easily, I was sort of disappointed, but looking back at the deal I got, I'm happy.

I have an '22 Xl, with *zero option*, love the out the door $21K price (also got some $500 credit) , it's like any other maverick the only thing that sticks out are the steelies and when (if) I am good and ready I would pony up some $ for different ones but besides that who the heck would have any regrets with 25K miles and a truck 2/3rd paid off and besides a couple of recalls it's been fantastic at 45mpg in the warm months. I bought it for exactly how it was marketed - a good looking economical mode of transportation, and I love that I have the subtle black interior and not some mess of colors you get stuck with when you upgrade.

Compared to my early 2000’s sedan, even my stripper XL has spaceship technology. Automatic emergency braking, stability control, traction control, trailer stability, half dozen airbags, MPG in the high 40’s, Ford Pass (not that I use that one), Bluetooth, USB, WiFi, back up camera, tire pressure monitoring, infotainment screen, and a HVAC thermostat.
yep - after getting beaters repaired for years I took the plunge - I couldn't believe the pricing on the XL and what you get - the fact that I now have working a/c after about oh 15 years is miraculous!. I had to read over the specs and the twice 3 times and do a little research, dealer did not even have one on the lot to look at, I plunked down my deposit the next day and after about a year I was on the road. One of the best bargains I have ever gotten

We have an XLT and an XL. My XL is the '24 with Cruise Control...The only thing missing is the motorized mirrors, which admittedly I miss sometimes. But that's really the only feature missing from the XLT that I can find. Even after buying rims it's still cheaper than an XLT. No regrets.

Love my '25 XL. It's all we need. Even more importantly, my wife loves it and she's pretty hard to please. Nothing against the higher trims, I just didn't see the need to spend more. Not a daily driver anyway. Very impressed with Ford right now. My last Ford was a '74 Pinto Wagon, yellow with a brown interior. Bought it for $200 in 1983. Had a lot of fun in college with that car.

No regrets with my ‘22 XL Hybrid. For me is balancing wants and needs. This essentially replaced my trusty but rusty commuter car. I’ll eventually pony up for better wheels or just repaint the steelies.

Not at all and with less then $500 bucks spent in accessories and a little spray paint and clear I have taken my XL and it looks just like an XLT. Since there is almost a $3k difference between the XL XLT that's just cost effective.

I love my 23 XL Maverick. (But Monday morning "QB thinking" I should have ordered the XLT with the awesome looking wheels instead of these ugly steely wheels.) But the 42 MPG, low price is totally awesome which is why I purchased the truck in first place.
Gas was 4 bucks a gallon...plus in fits in the garage.

Best thread ever. OP has a sense of humor. Now, if we can only merge this with the "Anybody regret buying a Lariat" thread, we can have another amusing civil war on MTC.

It's like The Matrix. I think we're on the twentieth iteration of the "you're dumb if you bought a Lariat" vs "you're dumb (and cheap) if you bought an XL" thread.

Us XLT guys are in the middle watching the heavy artillery fly back and forth over our heads.

The only threads better than XL vs Lariat are the BEV threads and anything that dares say "Santa Cruz" in the thread title. Oh wait, I forgot the recent nuclear thread option - mentioning tariffs.
BINGO!!!

I like my XL. I ordered exactly what I wanted. I can drive whatever I want (I have seven vehicles), and the XL has all the options/etc. that I wanted for what I wanted the truck for. I did switch out the wheels for a bronze set (I have an eruption green truck), added a retractable bed cover, some seat covers, and I'm basically done. I don't need to overpay for equipment that I can add if I want to, but probably won't ever. I see it like politics...you have your views, I have mine, and as long as we are civil, who cares.
