Garage door opener solution (simple)

[2022 Maverick Lariat]

I have found a very easy upgrade to add a garage door opener to the Maverick. It’s actually a garage door remote designed for the Polaris Slingshot. Here is a link to sling mods of you are interested.

This solution does not require disassembly, cutting, engineering, or anything that may void warranty. All that is required, like any garage door remote, is programming. Mounting is done with 3M tape. All necessary instructions are included.

Absolutely you could. I was just concerned about someone stealing it to gain access to my house. Everyone knows what a garage opener looks like, not many people, if any would know what that round thing stuck to my overhead console is. To each their own.

Just park IN the garage. Problem solved.

See a remote on windshield visor.
Break glass steal remote. Open glove compartment find registration and insurance with address.
Drive to the house while victim is still shopping use remote to gain access to the house.

I like my tiny remote with velcro on it hidden but accessible.
There are times that the car can't be parked in the garage.

Cool idea. Necessary? No. But still nifty. I’ll probably put mine in a less obvious location though. Thanks for sharing. I wasn’t aware of the slingshot. I like the different color options too.

You could just use an app on your phone. Liftmaster MY-Q device will open any garage door. Installed several of these . Can use free app or it works with alarm.com

You can control 2 doors with this if you buy another door sensor. Only issue is it cost more than the kit. Works on overhead door and genie brands too along with many others.

Yeah that works fine to open a door, but closing it starts a whole sequence of loud beeps (for 30 seconds IIRC) before it starts closing. That's because they assume you might be halfway across the world and decide to close your door while a child is playing underneath it.

30 seconds doesn't sound that long, but in reality it gets very annoying to everyone within earshot.

Yes, it does beep and strobe. So does the my-q branded openers too. Also comes with warning sticker that must be applied above the remote on the wall. Has to warn people door is about to close. I only noticed it beep for 5 seconds

Don't get me wrong - I *love* the app, it lets me check on / open / close my garage doors from anywhere I have internet access. I've used it to let friends & family into my house while I'm away and to have deliveries dropped into my garage. It's also great to open the door when you're in a rental or borrowed car without remote

Just wanted to warn people that, unlike a homelink remote, it gets pretty loud when you close the door with the MyQ system

My remote is black with gray buttons and sits in the little angled slot under the center stack to the right of the wireless charging pad. Actually the remote fits so perfect it’s almost stuck in there. My windows are tinted to 20% and I don’t leave anything in my truck that would draw attention.

Id be more concerned that someone knives open my tonneau cover and takes anything (if I had stuff) from back there
