Dead Hybrid again, AFTER wire harness replacement!

I can't remember where I read it, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that Ford recommends that the vehicle be run at least once every week, maybe two.

This is good advice and could be done with the "Remote Start" on the Ford Pass App on your phone even if you are 1000's of miles from your Maverick.

In fact it probably is a good idea to do this maybe every three days to keep the 12V battery from being discharged.

WARNING: Only do this "Remote Start" if your Maverick is outside in a vented area.

Your owner's manual specifies 15 days, and to move the vehicle at least 25 ft. Remote start does not move the vehicle at least 25 ft.

PREPARING YOUR VEHICLE FOR STORAGE

If you plan on storing your vehicle for 30 days or more, the following maintenance recommendations ensure your vehicle stays in good operating condition.
Under various conditions, long-term storage could lead to degraded engine performance or failure unless you use specific precautions to preserve your vehicle.
General

• Store all vehicles in a dry, ventilated place.
• If vehicles are stored outside, they require regular maintenance to protect against rust and weather damage.
• Make sure all linkages, cables, levers and pins under your vehicle are covered with grease to prevent rust.
• Move vehicles at least 25 ft (7.5 m) every 15 days to lubricate working parts and prevent corrosion.
• Fill the fuel tank with high-quality fuel until the first automatic shutoff of the fuel pump nozzle.

Engine

• Change the engine oil and filter prior to storage because used engine oil contains contaminants which could cause engine damage.
• Start the engine every 15 days for a minimum of 15 minutes.Run at fast idle with the climate controls set to defrost until the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
• With your foot on the brake, shift through all the gears while the engine is running.

Body

• Wash your vehicle thoroughly to remove dirt, grease, oil, tar or mud from exterior surfaces, rear-wheel housings and the underside of front fenders.
• Periodically wash your vehicle if it is stored in exposed locations.
• Touch-up exposed or primed metal to prevent rust.
• Cover chrome and stainless steel parts with a thick coat of auto wax to prevent discoloration.Re-wax as necessary when you wash your vehicle.
• Lubricate all hood, door and luggage compartment hinges and latches with a light grade oil.
• Cover interior trim to prevent fading.
• Keep all rubber parts free from oil and solvents.

Hybrid Battery Systems
We recommend the following actions for your vehicle:

• When storing your vehicle for greater than 30 days the state of charge should be approximately 50%. Additionally we recommend disconnecting the 12V battery which reduces system loads on the HV battery.

12 Volt Battery

• Check and recharge as necessary. Keep connections clean.

Note: It is necessary to reset memory features if you disconnect the battery cables.
Tires

• Maintain recommended air pressure.

Brakes
Make sure the brakes and parking brake release fully.
Note: If you intend on parking your vehicle for an extended period after washing your vehicle or cleaning the wheels, drive your vehicle for a few minutes before doing so to reduce the risk of increased corrosion of the brake discs, brake pads and linings.

This is good advice. I have one of those blade type negative disconnect switches on my motor home which sits for long periods.

Good question. I hadn't considered that it might be an issue with the hybrid. I don't have one on my hybrid Mav, so it's an unknown.
I do like the version you linked better due to being able to remove the knob and make it more difficult to get power to the vehicle.

So where is this parasitic loss on the 12v system coming from? And how in anyone’s world is it ok to require a vehicle to be started every couple of weeks irregardless of its use? This is a 2022 vehicle for gawds sake…havent driven mine in 3 days, wont Pass or remote control start so I have to go outside and key start it….not a huge deal, but I live in cold Canada. I have suffered the dead battery syndrome twice, went to dealer with TSB in hand…..waste of time….checked for connection tightness using “wiggle” test and said they could not duplicate customers problem. Correct in saying to start a ”dead” Maverick all mine needed was to see a voltage across the remote terminals…..next time it happens it will be getting towed/trailered to my local dealer…I doubt they are smart enough to try and boost before loading lol

Why? It's well established that the 12V battery is NOT used for starting, only for "activating" the relays that allow the HVB to start the ICE.

I was not aware of this and that brings me to a question... Would a deep cycle Marine/RV battery be a better choice since it can handle a draw over a longer period of time versus a regular battery?

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like a lot of these "deep sleep" complaints are coming from folks in the great white north. Perhaps it's a combination of some mysterious parasitic draw and lead / acid batteries doing poorly in lower temps.

I'd like it for my interior lights to illuminate when I open the door. I don't think I should have to drive 30 miles to have this happen.

Mine started in the summer in Virginia.

Is a battery tender like a Noco device ?

They are a low amperage battery maintainer. They will shut off when the battery is fully charged. Battery Tender is a popular model and Noco makes them as well. Noco's can be set for lead acid, AGM or lithium. I got one on Amazon on sale for $17 but they usually run around $25. I use them on my motorcycles year-round.

Clearly, Ford did not design the Maverick to go into deep sleep after such a short period of time. It boils down to a software glitch and a defective harness assembly. Ford contracts out for many parts and that vendor just screwed up.
As far as getting your dealer to fix the harness, I would go directly to Ford. Utterly ridiculous for a dealer to ignore a TSB.

I really like the idea of a battery disconnect switch. I may order and try it out. Just doing more research on it first.

One vendor had one that disconnects the negative post using a switch located in the cab. Much more convenient and by hiding the switch you can stealthly disable the vehicle. Unfortunately, I don't remember who I bought that from. Put it in my Chevy Colorado Z71 to make flat towing more convenient. Truck since destroyed, sad to say. Checking Amazon more recently, I saw many that now incorporate a remote fob that eliminates having to open the hood every time. I just typed "battery disconnect remote switch" in the search box.
