This is what I followed, they had a direct connection to the positive post and a ground behind the BMS sensor, and his tracked SOC while charging correctly. I'm on a frame ground in the battery compartment.My battery charger/tender works on the jump/charge posts under the hood, on the driver's side. I connect it if I'm not going to be driving the truck for several days or longer.
The BMS should be reset after a charge, too.
The BMS will report an error if the charger is connected wrong, it won't have seen charge flow into the battery. I had mine connected wrong initially and had to reset BMS after each charge. After correcting this, It doesn't have the "Out of Range" error after charging.
