Having a trunk is nice for concealment and weather resistance, but I dont really miss it either with my tonneau. I had to adjust my cover to get it to clamp properly which made it leak more but even then I dont see it ever mattering.

My '25 XLT without the lux package also locks with the fob, inside door button or outside door handle sensor.Gary,
I forget if it was part of the lux package or not.
You can win one argument for the truck bed. If you're a Sopranos fan, you'll win hands down with the truck bed over a trunk....<snip>
My current daily is the GR Corolla which is really small but does have a hatch I can put a few bags or stroller or dog into. My main concern with switching is am I going to miss having a secure/dry trunk. With a cover on the bed can you keep things nice in there? Is there a way to lock the bed? Anybody else made this transition and have input?
thanks!
12 packsX2 the storage under the rear bench seat is Nice for Gallon Jugs of Water or 12 packs of Water and Sweet Tea.
No, especially if you get a tonneau cover.A little background: Always a car guy and love stick shifts. Currently have three small stick shift cars and my wife has her auto Jeep.
Dad recently passed away who was awesome working on cars and now a few things have changed
1. He won’t be here to bail me out if I can’t get my wife’s car fixed quickly. This makes me consider getting rid of my daily GR Corolla in favor of an automatic so she can drive it if needed.
2. I’m going to need to clean out his large garage, my mom will probably be moving soon as well as my grandmother - would be nice to have a bed and ability to tow a trailer. Also nice for my kayak and want to get a bike again in the future.

Hey, Gray Goose...a quick note for those seat belt warnings...as I learned from other threads on here, just click all three seat belts into their respective catches for the back seats and not hear them again, or have to clear them every time you start your truck! All of the above... and back seat bottom flips up for expanded capacity. Advantage over putting stuff on the seat is skipping the seat belt warnings.
If you need a trunk to keep items out of sight, stick with a sedan of some type. You can get a cap, or topper, what ever they call them, for a truck, but I don't feel them as safe as a trunk. Most bed covers are not watertight, so I wouldn't recommend one. Toppers are expensive, how about an SUV?A little background: Always a car guy and love stick shifts. A “smash & grab” from an SUV/Hatch window is easier than a tonneau cover pry. That is why smash & grabs are so prevalent? If you need a trunk to keep items out of sight, stick with a sedan of some type. you can get a couple of cubbies that are easily insertable into the bed - they're like 40$ or so apiece anything you put in them will pretty much always stay dry - not a lot of room but enough for some small items that need to be kept dry. Invest in a couple quality storage containers and get a couple collapsable plastic boxes that will come in handy. example of cubby - available from lots of places : 2022-2023 Ford Maverick Pickup Bed Stowage Storage Container Cubby Box Black | Plastic | Right | Mounting Hardware Included
Same as my 24 XLT Lux, 2 pushes on ‘unlock’ on fob and good to go.Nope, no key needed to unlock the tailgate of my 23 XLT with the lux package. It unlocks with the fob or my OEM keypad.
The problem with putting bodies in the maverick bed is you have to bend the legs to fit them in. Then again, you could stick to whacking short people.Coming from a large Italian family, all of my relatives who are in the "Construction" and "Shipping" businesses back East......wink wink....I was concerned where they would put the bodies if one of them ever got a Maverick. So far...I think I'm the only one.![]()
What model car trunk are you stuffing them in that you don't need to bend them? The problem with putting bodies in the maverick bed is you have to bend the legs to fit them in. Then again, you could stick to whacking short people.![]()
