  1. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

The ball joint is made from hardened forged steel while the hub spindle is heavy duty cast iron. The slightly larger top lip of the ball joint was torqued down inside the hub spindle. Did this “leave a mark” on either the ball joint lip or the hub spindle inner surface? Would it even matter if...
  2. Intake valve cleaning

If the OP has the new design EB, top tier fuel detergents streaming through the port injectors will clean magnitudes better than a CRC intake cleaning would. Also, the more robust oil separator system on the refresh is magnitudes better than any aftermarket oil can for this EB. Sorry...
  3. Intake valve cleaning

I have used CRC intake cleaner with noticeable improvement on my previous DI engines. That giant plume of dirty white smoke exiting the exhaust pipe after the engine soak is satisfying but can alarm the neighbors! But I would never use it on a Turbocharged engine. That giant plume of dirty...
  4. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Any speculation as to why Ford/NHTSA waited a full year to issue the “do not drive” instruction? Even after the problem was discovered last June - some trucks were incorrectly repaired. Maybe Ford was trying to figure out how to properly fix before announcing the recall?
  5. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Recall was issued about one year after Ford first noticed the problem (6/1/25). Does seem a bit like “closing the barn door after the horse has left” to be issuing a “do not drive” warning now…
  6. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Just some quotes from the recall fyi. I added the numbers myself… ”1) affected vehicles may have improperly assembled front lower control arm ball joints.” “2) Ford’s understanding of the issue and observed occurrences in the field which indicate it will manifest very early in the vehicle’s...
  7. Consensus on preferred engine oil?

I use Motorcraft Full Synthetic 5W30 in my 25 EB. First time I have ever used a Motorcraft fluid of any kind. Blackstone Oil Analysis after first oil change showed the additives were still very robust. Will continue to use.
  8. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Good point. Ford should replace the hub/spindle in addition to the ball joint / control arm assembly - as all could be damaged by improper fitment? Or they may just loosen the pinch joint and press the ball joint / control arm up into place? That seems like “quick fix” repair job. Edit - The...
  9. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Good advice! BTW, the ball joint / control arm assembly is manufactured at the Hermosillo Stamping Plant - before being delivered to the Main Assembly Line as one piece. I’m guessing (hoping) Ford would replace the whole assembly under the recall instead of trying to press the ball joint into...
  10. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Ahh - the 26C10. We all have that one:) But 26S36 is the is the “do not drive” recall revealed in the OP. BTW, got on my back to inspect my ball joint / control arm just now. Felt a protrusion not an indentation yay. I’ve always preferred outies over innies. 25 Lobo…
  11. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Are you referring to recall 26C10 (trailer reprogram) or to the “dreaded” recall 26S36 (do not drive - we will tow you)? Also, what model do you drive? So far the 3 forum members getting the 26S36 recall are Tremor owners (Cancunbadlands, HRG, and Bunchahoopla). If you drive a Tremor - seems a...
  12. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

I thought the front ball joint / control arm assembly has remained the same since the original “$19,999” Maverick days. Could be wrong 😑 Anyway, as the years go by the suspension gets more & more stressed. I imagine the 2028 refresh will get new a front ball joint assembly…
  13. Planning to buy a Maverick.

Hear Hear! I did not realize CoPilot 360 was an option and not standard on the XL Hybrid AWD. I agree with you that that option is a must have. Very useful!
  14. Planning to buy a Maverick.

I thought all EB’s get the transmission cooler and the 4K did not add anything. You’re saying the EB 4K gets a bigger transmission cooler than the 2K or maybe the 2K gets no transmission cooler. Model year differences also? Apologies to OP for continuing to go off topic. EB folks can be...
  15. Planning to buy a Maverick.

4K Tow Package: EB gets a bigger fan & radiator for engine cooling (Coolant) but no additional cooling for the transmission. Hybrid gets a transmission cooler (ATF Fluid) but no additional cooling for the Atkinson. They both get the identical trailer connections though. The Lobo gets the...
  16. Planning to buy a Maverick.

All the critical powertrain bits in the “basic” AWD Hybrid are identical to those in the pricier models. You can’t go wrong with the XL in that regard:) As far as anything else you need - budget some extra dough for aftermarket stuff like a tonneau cover ($500) & paint ($50) for the neat...
  17. Planning to buy a Maverick.

Ford upgraded the HF45 eCVT to a more rugged HF55 eCVT to handle the 4K Tow demands. I’m guessing the 2K also gets the improved eCVT - but maybe not with the transmission cooling?
  18. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Thank you for posting the NHTSA report! That must be fresh off the press:) Edit - The defect originated at the Hermosillo Stamping Plant across from the Main Assembly Line. Just fyi..,
  19. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

Great diagram Darnon! Is that the Maverick and how to visually check ourselves?
  20. Ford Issues Do-Not-Drive Advisory for Certain 2021-2026 Maverick; Owners Urged to Contact Dealerships Immediately (June 1, 2026)

I did see that - but was not sure if that was our Maverick. If that is our Maverick, fantastic.
