When I put mine on (a Nico g5 multistage maintainer). I try to leave it on for several days maybe a week. Not necessarily continuous if I need to drive but back on ASAP. This allows the automatic optimization routines to run after battery is fully charged and replaces any drains ASAP. In order to keep battery topped off the maintainer needs to be at least 4amps (reported by someone here) to trickle battery and furnish current during the random charges. If you have OEM replaced keep the old one charge it and run a repair cycle one it then leave it on maintenance and swap with replacement when needed placing the removed one on repair/maintenance! Just a thought.
I have the same charger and drive it daily.

I really don't think the battery was the issue. I have a feeling you will run into the same problem in a few weeks once this battery is drained. I hope im wrong. I think something is draining your battery or your truck is not charging it. I have a 22 and I'm still on the same stock battery.
You also have a hybrid, right? Apples

I don't see anywhere it's going to know it's an AGM.
I do see it says to do the same reset routine that's been mentioned.

The battery is in the engine compartment.See Under Hood Overview - 2.0L EcoBoost™.
Your vehicle has a maintenance-free battery. It does not require additional water during service.
If the vehicle battery has a cover and vent hose, make sure you correctly install it after cleaning or replacing the battery.
For longer, trouble-free operation, keep the top of the battery clean and dry and the battery cables tightly fastened to the battery terminals. If any corrosion is present on the battery or terminals, remove the cables from the terminals and clean with a wire brush. You can neutralize the acid with a solution of baking soda and water.
We recommend that you disconnect the negative battery cable terminal from the battery if you plan to store your vehicle for an extended period.
Note: If you only disconnect the negative battery cable terminal, make sure it is isolated or placed away from the battery terminal to avoid unintended connection or arcing.
If you replace the battery make sure it matches the electrical requirements of your vehicle.
If you disconnect or replace the battery and your vehicle has an automatic transmission, it must relearn its adaptive strategy. Because of this, the transmission may shift firmly when first driven. This is normal operation while the transmission fully updates its operation to optimum shift feel.

Battery Sensor Reset
When you install a new battery, reset the battery sensor by doing the following:
  1. Switch the ignition on, and leave the engine off.
Note: Complete Steps 2 and 3 within 10 seconds.
  1. Flash the high beam headlamps five times, ending with the high beams off.
  2. Press and release the brake pedal three times.
The battery warning lamp flashes three times to confirm that the reset is successful.

Battery Management System (If Equipped)
The system monitors battery conditions and takes actions to extend battery life. If excessive battery drain is detected, the system temporarily disables some electrical systems to protect the battery.
Systems included are:
  • Heated rear window.
  • Heated seats.
  • Climate control.
  • Heated steering wheel.
  • Audio unit.
  • Navigation system.
A message may appear in the information display to alert you that battery protection actions are active. This message is only for notification that an action is taking place, and not intended to indicate an electrical problem or that the battery requires replacement.
After battery replacement, or in some cases after charging the battery with an external charger, the battery management system requires eight hours of vehicle sleep time to relearn the battery state of charge. During this time, your vehicle must remain fully locked with the ignition switched off.
Note: Prior to relearning the battery state of charge, the battery management system may temporarily disable some electrical systems.
Keep reading. It’s later on the same page as above.

You must be using the non-updated non-current paper copy.

The possibly updated PDF for page 314 you referenced earlier is removing the rear lamp assembly, and the bulb specs and types.
https://www.ford.com/support/vehicle/maverick/2022/owner-manuals/

That page I showed is now on page 311 - and there is absolutely nothing about AGM under ANY of the pages dealing with battery for Eco-boost. There is no "later on the same page" as it ends with the Note I showed.

Page 312 after the page I entirely quoted is about Remove & Reinstall the Battery. Nothing on that page about AGM. It refers to the Specs pages starting on 355 - battery reference there:
Battery. BHEF-48H6

Which is not an AGM battery. But can be replaced by such!
https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts/ford-battery_bhef-48h6.html

But back to the original point - where you said the truck would learn it had an AGM battery and that's in the manual.
Where exactly is that?
What does it say - a picture would be great for others to see they had the info available.

Because I searched all 533 PDF pages for the 2022 Ford Maverick manual and AGM was not even found!

@Ringo ,
Ya - I had already quoted all of that. Wasn't later on the page. Might want to reread my post replies.

You stood by your point that it said it would learn you had an AGM battery.

So you were wrong. Just wanted to make sure I and many others weren't missing something in the manual about AGM batteries.
Perhaps you were remembering the fact it's a value in the BCM many have reported, that seems to be default set. If it's actually used for anything is another matter.

Where do you live? Climate has alot to do with battery drain. Florida VS Quebec etc.

I live in Connecticut
So somewhat similar but not as cold. I'll know more once I get mine and test it out. Fingers crossed it doesn't give me problems but its not uncommon to go below -35 and colder in January and February.

Sadly it sucks unfortunately it's Fords and most companies way to go the cheapest route possible when replacing things even if they replace it 5x or more. Which winds up costing them more in the long run. 😁😆😂😂
Hey Y’all,
I just came across a National Electric Code (NEC) 551- 42 - 4 ( I think) that might actually apply to convincing Ford to upgrade Maverick batteries to AGM. The code states that “flooded acid batteries “ cannot be placed in a passenger compartment.
I found this on a search of battery placement requirements and was directed to a CalTrans (California Department of Transportation) page with the NEC code clearly printed saying that placing the stock flooded lead acid battery under the seat “in the passenger” area is prohibited. Curious as to how Ford gets around this issue? Hmm …! 🤔

The flooded battery in the hybrid maverick has a vent tube to carry the hydrogen gas to outside of the cabin.

My 2023 ecoboost came with an AGM battery, and it died this week after 17 months of ownership. Dealership replaced it under warranty, but never had a new vehicle battery die that soon after purchase.

Same here truck is 2 years old and twice in one week. Went in deep sleep mode. Only issue I have had can’t remote start it. Taking to the dealership Friday they say it might need a deep charge? The battery is an AGM
