Hi there. Can you send us a DM with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into this for you.
@Ford Motor Company

Do you recommend extensive invasive repairs (IE engine removal and damper replacement) as soon as possible expecting it may have to be repeated?

Or so long as the vehicle is drivable, continue driving with strong shudders and wait for official notifications of recall or parts updates?

What Would Ford Do?

I think there are two “shudders” that are being confused on this forum as a whole:

1.) Significant jarring and jerking (similar to hitting rumble strips) when the ICE is cold and just kicking in - typically only happens once in a while. Disengaging the accelerator and then reengaging stops the problem.

2.) What is being described on this thread as a slight “flutter” when the ICE is transitioning from electric. It’s reoccurring and can be considered normal operation. It’s just not that smooth of a transition.

Not trying to stir anything up - I’ve experienced both of these and the dealers are clueless to a fix on #1.
Re 2.) Mine has been glass smooth up until nearly 26,000 km, couldn't tell when the ICE was starting or shutting down. Got a noticeable shudder about 1,500 km ago going to electric during a slow decel., only once. Recently the ICE has become much more rough running. Not terrible, but a noticeable change. Likely an engine management issue or the damper starting to go bad.

Cheers.

I don't think my hybrid shudders, but I have an occasional loud thump/knock that sounds like someone bangs a fender with a fist. Happens about 1x-2x times per week when I'm slow rolling into like a driveway or parking spot. Not accelerating, not really braking, but foot on the brake pedal. Scared the crap out of me the first few times because I thought I hit something! I don't feel the brakes grab coincident with the sound, so I don't think it's "grabby brakes." I switched display modes to see if it's happening in a switch from charging/electric/hybrid.

Well then it's a deep scratch,so deep I can hide money in it! A warning be careful stepping on that plastic I guess, it has been below zero not long ago and had friends in the back. I will for grins see if it t can be covered under warranty, if not I have some nice carbon fibre tape will cover and keep it from getting worse

I have 225km on my 2023 Maverick, it was initially perfect. Today I felt a few chunky / clunky transitions between gas an electric, then on the way home while taking foot off the gas and slowing (maybe lightly braking ?)while turning into a side street I experienced a prolonged rumbling/ shudder. It felt like it was in the engine area, you could feel it through the steering. I agree with everyone that it seems related to transmission or the handoff from ICE to electric.

I really don’t want to take my truck back yet… especially if no solution is known yet or it’s a big repair. I am curious if it happens again on my next drive.

Has anyone learned anything yet?

Anyone have this issue fixed yet? I still can’t get a response from anyone on here who has had the problem and had it fixed. Mine has been doing it since 800 miles and the Ford rep on here didn’t follow up with me and I’m still having the issue.

Nope. I had the airbag recall done and described the situation. I was then given the very patronizing "well it's a hybrid so the engine turns on and off" speech. Violent shaking = not the engine turning on an off...

Lousy customer service for sure. I'll bet if the service departments weren't so busy and needed the work they might be more responsive.

Cheers.

Engine / Transmission Parts are more rare than Sasquatch. Expect to wait months to get them.

Like a lot of you m Mac suffers from the shudder issue. Happens very often letting off the accelerator. Happened the other day when I was STOPPED letting a pedestrian pass. The typical shudder 'fix' is to blip the throttle, but since there was a human in front of me...dangerous...

I've done some testing to see what makes it worse or better. If you have time please try these things:
1) Change MODE - I never have shuddering in SPORT mode and accordingly it is worst in eco mode.
2) Turn Off HVAC - in just a few days of testing if HVAC is OFF (i.e. no heat or AC) shuddering does not occur.
It makes sense for sport mode to stop it, as the gas engine would not turn off. I drive without the air on and I still have a shudder. I had mine looked at about a week or two ago and they updated the computer as there was an update. I'd say it has made the shudder better, but I am still noticing it. I agree it is worse in Eco, and I think that is because Eco probably switches from gas to electric more often.

This is a fantastic thread, thanks for trying to actually pinpoint. It gives me hope that maybe they can fix it on the software end one day, similar to the brake issue. Do you think that’s the case?
But the software patches never really fixed the brakes so.....
