I was able to get my MY23 mav to the dealer yesterday for the TSB 23-2209 (shudder issue). We’ll I now understand what people meant by buttery smooth. I can’t even tell when it’s in regen, ice or electric mode. It drives like it should. Finally feel like my car might last a long while (we’ll I hope)

Just for mine back today, I’m so happy. Driving today I was telling my wife “ see we are in gas mode, now in electric, in gas again, back to electric, see you can’t hear anything!” . Props to Ford for finding hopefully the perfect long term fix.

Wow that’s great news. Mine is in now for it. Hopefully the same outcome

Happy to report that after 4(!!) weeks the truck is back with me and 100% better. The delay was due to the power recall issue, but the update for the low-speed shudder was completed.

Wow. Just wow.

Night and day smoother transitions between gas and electric. Seems to hold on to electric more willingly now too. Best money ($0) I've ever spent on the truck!

My 2024 hybrid xlt is doing this at 15k miles. Violent shutter sometimes when transitioning from ICE to electric mode when decelerating. Transitioning between the 2 modes is never smooth. Can the software fix be applied to 2024 models? Going to contact dealer on Monday.

That came out early enough it was already incorporated in the 24MY.
But get the number of the TSB down when you go to the dealer and explain it's like that.
Different reason likely.

Not sure if you are familiar with the following scenario that occurs.
Now - you mention when decelerating and ICE to electric transition.
So ICE was already running.
HVB may already be at top of available charge if ICE had been running for long enough. So regen due to coasting/braking can NOT go back to the battery.
But ICE was going to turn off anyway (unless needed for heat), during deceleration.

Except - the way the system dumps the extra electricity generated by the traction motor that can't be sent to the HVB - is by sending it to the generator motor which will now spin the engine while it's not actually on, at whatever RPM is needed to waste the energy.

So you could be having a strange interaction of ICE was on (firing), then off on coast/regen, then spun up immediately to waste energy - and the generator motor trying to be used in correct RPM to cause correct gearing.

And then closer to slow speed on final stop the actual engine off again and physical brakes used.

Is it only the transition from ICE to EV, and only decelerating?
It is smoth on say slow accelerating from EV to ICE kicking on?

So flat ground where you can feather the Go pedal to get from ICE into EV mode is fine, or not smooth either?

When it switches to EV, do you use EV Coach to see the blue bar - is the outline long or short when solid (showing EV being used)?

Just some questions they will likely ask unless you can give them exactly the driving scenario for them to duplicate it.

I feel like this could be worded much more concisely…

If I am on the gas an then quickly onto the brakes I can still get the prolonged loud shuddering.

If past regen and really onto physical brakes quickly - then likely a brake booster issue.
