The biggest take away from this video for me is the AC not kicking off at stoplights.

Is the same for heat? I have use for both heat and AC over the course of a midwestern year.

Comments on an otherwise excellent video, from a current Escape Hybrid owner.
- When he identifies the eCVT module in the cut-away, the red area contains both eCVT (lower) and Inverter (upper) modules.
- His demo of eCVT internal operation should point out the PSD planetary gearset, since that's where all the magic happens.
- When he talks about regen braking, he puts it all on the charging motor, when it's actually mostly a traction motor function.
- "EV-only" mode is a plug-in only feature. However, your throttle foot has easy access to EV-only mode in the hybrid.
- top speed is determined by driving motor maximum RPM, and so gearing. Expect ~120 mph.

Just a fine video. It helped me understand more fully what hybrids are all about.

Same thing for heat, if it can't pump enough heat to you it will just turn the ICE back on

Settled...Mine will be a hybrid...though I wonder if fire is more likely in a crash??

It's a small battery and it's located in the most protected place possible. Than there's the battery disconnect in the event of impact.

Can it happen? Sure. But I don't see any more risk than a gas fire in an ICE car.

It's hard to believe that we're still looking for reasons to be scared of owning a hybrid vehicle. Yes, the battery is a battery. Yes, it's warranted to last a really long time. No, it won't die or deteriorate at 100k miles. Yes, it can be replaced if something weird happens, just like a transmission, an engine, or a gas tank can. No, it won't cost $3,000 to replace it. Yes, you can find videos showing you how to replace one yourself. No, it won't go dead if you mostly drive at high speed. No, you can't damage it by running through water. No, you don't have to baby it. No, you don't have to contend with it dying in cold weather or hot weather or wet weather. No, it won't blow up. No, you don't have to plug it in. Yes, you can use regular gas in it. No, you can't decide whether or not to run on just the battery or just the gasoline engine...
