Welp mine just bit the dust. I'm at the office, I got back from lunch, hit the button to turn off, and it immediately went dead. Tried my little vehicle jump charging brick on both the battery and the jump terminals under the hood but nothing happened. Jiggled and pressed the wiring harness connection but it seems solid under the safety wrap but that might just be a tight wrap more than a tight connection, I dunno. Waiting on a tow to dealership.

Got a ride home to get a multimeter. Battery looks good at 12.5v, engine bay connection point is 2.1v or so if I'm reading this right at the correct points. (EDIT: Also same 2.1 voltage at the red-cap jump point, and not just the lug terminal there in the picture. I tried to access some other hot point along that harness but I wasn't able to figure out another location to poke.)

Sure looks like the typical bad harness issue...

My fuse panel under the passenger seat also was getting 2.1v. I guess that makes sense if it is downstream from that harness. I tried to access some other hot point along that harness but I wasn't able to figure out another location to poke.

Very sorry to hear that you have involuntarily "joined the club". If it is any consolation, mine has been fine after the harness was replaced by dealer. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...ges-fixed-by-software-update.9415/post-322814

That honks. As per Miskomd's posts, is the cable termination behind the one you are checking solid? I believe that's the termination from the positive harness, and the one in front supplying the DC/DC inverter.

Good luck!

I didn’t really see a way of accessing the lug behind/beneath the one in my pic unfortunately so I can’t say. Was that the one people are having the solder issue with? If so I have misinterpreted a lot of pics!

I got the Mav towed to the dealership. For science I first asked the tow guy to help me jump the car just to see, and it booted up immediately when he connected the cables (I guess the HVB contactors close and the dc to dc converter takes over at that point and provides a solid 14.something volts to the system?).

That was convenient to drive it into place on the tow lift. When I powered it off the poor bastard immediately dropped 1000% dead just the same way again, unfortunately, but as expected.

Most of the pictures show the forward cable termination as the failed one, but it seems like the one behind it would be more likely to give the symptoms you describe.

I think you are right about how the jump brings it up, and the HVB keeps the relays pulled in until the truck is shut off again. That would explain why the hybrids don't seem to be dying on the road. At least that's a good thing.

Hopefully the dealer gets you sorted soon!

Cheers.

That makes the most sense of anything that I have heard, because you are right: DEAD MAVERICK occurs after you shut down the Hybrid and attempt to start. With a jump, it will start and run, but is dead the next time that you shut down.

My truck was dead on arrival after a long layover flight home. While I was away, I received the kiss of death message on my app that remote services were disabled to save battery life. I left my key in the glovebox, as I have the XLT with keypad. Keypad didn't work and it required a 1 hour wait for roadside assistance. They came, broke into the truck very quickly and then it required a jump. I drove 20 miles home on the freeway and there were no warning lights. About 4 hours later, app alerted me that it was shutting down remote features again. I managed to start the truck in the morning went to the dealeship. After 4 days, they couldn't find anything wrong, but I was showing repeated screenshots of battery issues and suggested they look at P/N from this thread. They called me yesterday, day 9 and indicated that they replaced the 12v battery and it's ready for pickup. I told them I will pickup the following day, and sure enough I received a message that remote services are once again turned off to preserve, (new) the battery life. Called dealership this morning and requested that someone go and check on the truck before I show up. Will update once I know more.

Now I have a CA lemon, it's been 45+ days and the Truck is still at the dealership. I wonder if they want to buyback so they can resell at higher profit. Lemon law attorney contacted.

Another possible one here. Pulled into the driveway after a 120 mile trip, hit the stop button and everything went completely dead. No dash lights, no locks - nothing. Will start and run with jump pack, but dies immediately when the start/stop button is pressed. No issues with MPG or Deep Sleep warnings. Taking it to the dealer when they open today.

4700 miles, Lariat Lux Hybrid, 08/2021 build.

Yes but no one at Ford is listening.
It appears that the faulty cable connections are a time bomb on every Hybrid. It is just a matter of time before they break and go dead. My cable was replaced by my dealer over a month ago, and my fingers are still crossed.
