**Edit: I already had two posts to this thread. Those have been deleted to avoid confusion..**

My Mav has the same battery, that It came with. (Build date: 10/31/2022).
I took a look and photo of it, just a while ago....

AGM-Battery_Pups.jpg

This is what the Part Number is... BAGM-48H6-760..
So, He came WITH a AGM-type Battery.. Is this a GOOD THING? (y)
Also, I looked up my VIN, NO Recall for Battery listed...

??Maybe My Mav is actually a MY23??
Jerry
You have an AGM battery so your battery is not subject to the recall. The start date of MY 23 was 11/14/2022 so you have one of the last MY22 built by Ford. From my understanding, Ford started placing AGM batteries in the Mavericks sometime in October 2022.

So my battery on my 22 Maverick started dying on me in late October of last year. Got the warning in the FordPass app about going into battery saver mode. Took it to the dealership and they tested battery and failed. Ended up paying for a new battery. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, traded it in for an F 150 and now a recall comes out. Is it worth/reasonable to try and get my money back?

I doubt it but you certainly try. I replaced my EFB a year ago with an AGM battery but I highly doubt that I will get reimbursed. Perhaps @fordvideoguy can answer your question.

That's above my expertise but nothing can be done until the full bulletin is out. Right now this in advance notice. No repair can be done or started yet.

I have an early 22 EB built...it was built 11/21. I do have the recall listed in my Ford Pass. Did you have an EFB or AGM battery when you bought your Maverick?
My 22 EB was built 11/03/22 and don’t have the recall. Wonder what they changed in production after the 10/20/22. cutoff?

Ford switched to installing only AGMs in the EcoBoosts.

Also I noticed that while '23s are listed as being affected, they technically aren't. The notice to dealers outlines the affected build dates of the 23MY units as June 20, 2022 through August 29, 2022. 23MY retail production didn't start until mid-November so those were all manufacturer-intended vehicles (probably a lot of demo Tremors).

Autoline After Hours commented on this Maverick recall yesterday (later in the video). They were commenting that the battery industry has been making batteries for 100+ years, and they kind of know what they're doing.

They went on to talk about past recalls by other OEMs. In one case, GM and Honda used exactly the same battery. GM had a recall and Honda didn't have any problems. The battery maker CEO supposedly lifted the hood of the GM vehicle, pointed to the battery mounting location, near the exhaust manifold, and said "Duh". Excessive heat.

I don't think Ford does that. I've owned a bunch of Ford vehicles, and the battery has always been near the sidewall. Haven't checked my ecoboost yet, but I'll wager the battery is well located. Another factor is how the OEM manages the battery - charging, discharging, etc. You can misuse a perfectly good battery and it will fail across the fleet. I'm thinking of the evil stop-start feature, which abuses both the battery and the engine.

OTOH, I have an AGM battery that's part of this recall. That's relatively new tech in the battery industry. I don't know how long they've been around. I should check this statement. I seem to recall verifying I had an AGM, but that was two years ago. Ecoboost built in August 2022.

I thought my 2022 had an AGM battery, but it's definitely showing that it's subject to the recall. Now I'm going to have to look, the next time I go out to the garage.

Whelp my hybrid Mav was built June 23 and I have not once had a battery saver mode notification until I checked my app just now. Got the recall email yesterday. I’m in Mexico and the truck hasn’t been driven for a week. Guess I was due. 🤨

A little while back I had my truck do the deep sleep thing, and after some reading and some advice from the forum here I decided I should get an AGM battery. Then I went in for surgery and got lazy and I didn't actually do anything. Thank goodness. I will now patiently wait for Ford to do my battery inspection and replace it at their cost instead of mine. Sometimes laziness pays off.

I do have a question though, it doesn't appear this recall directly affects the deep sleep issue, but assuming we get AGM batteries as replacements I would guess that deep sleep should be less likely at least once the battery is replaced?

my ecoboost was built in july 22 and did come with an EFB. about 7-8 months after purchase, I started having trouble with deep sleep even after long drives.

I actually bought a replacement AGM battery and then decided to do a BMS reset and drive for an hour with autostop disabled to see if it would charge. it did fix it!... and I returned the AGM. (and by this point, I'd already posted here about the cheap AGM battery I'd found at a local walmart.)

since then I've had deep sleep twice, both easily explained as I didn't drive the truck for days in cold weather. (actually, it shouldn't do that, but I think there is a drain from telematics and the battery isn't very good.)

I checked Fordpass but not the NHTSA website on Wednesday, and it was clear. I checked Fordpass again today and ... yep, I'm affected.

I am pretty sure they are just gathering inventory and then probably they will start flipping the recall flag over to 'contact dealer to schedule repair'.

for all the folks who replaced their ecoboost EFB early, like I very nearly did, I unfortunately think you're out of luck whether you still have the truck or not.

Did you read the recall notice?

This thread is on a recall for EB models, not hybrid.

If you actually got a recall for the hybrid - please post it's number.

I probably shouldn't do this but I will post some screenshots of the recall as it reads so far. This is still an advance notice of the recall. Ford has not sent out letters to anyone yet (according to the notice). They do have the list of VINs so you may be able to put your VIN into the recall website and it could show whether yours is included. I'm not sure if that's true or not. But no repair orders can be started yet. Also, it doesn't say that it is for only EcoBoost engine. In fact, if it was they will usually include that information. I've seen many recall notices, I cover them every week on my livestream.
