The long tester (takes 3-4 hours, I believe) charges some, rests some, checks how much charge "sticks", etc. and compares to good battery expectations. A battery at say 75% that is sulfated will gain voltage quicker than a battery at the same SOC that is not sulfated with the same current fed. Voltage will settle faster with an internal short than one without. Tester just has to measure with greater precision.
Very interesting do they actually do that? Thanks

Would be interesting to see if Ford updates the battery type in the software...I manually flipped mine to AGM when I put my own AGM in there with Forscan. But perhaps the software would have done that anyway as part of the overnight 8 hour relearning procedure.

It's not a BMS reset - it's a BS reset (Battery Sensor).
Thank you.

@Ozarkbeard my apologies you are right to do both steps after a new battery or charging. I'll edit my post to correct that. In my case even doing both after a full charge didn't fix the problem for longer than several weeks. The BMS is failing to protect the battery health as it is designed to do. Odd that our Prius had no need for battery sensor or BMS resets and the AGM battery lasted 8 years.

I believe it does. After I did BS reset when I installed an AGM battery, I checked the listing with ForScan and the battery type was listed as AGM (I had EFB before).

I just received an alert from my insurance app about a 12V battery inspection recall for my 2022 Maverick. Unfortunately, there were no additional details or information provided. If anyone has more specifics about this recall, please share them here.

Thanks in advance!
I just got an Email from FOMOCO this AM for a free battery check.

So.... I have an early release of the '22 Lariat Hybrid, and I don't exactly drive it a lot. 12,300 miles and will have had it 3 years next month.
I get the sleep mode / drive the truck warnings rather regularly, and it's definitely annoying to say the least. I sure hope Ford plans on addressing this in 2025!

Here's my original factory 12v battery which I assume is one of the offending types, and yes I have had all the reprogramming recalls performed.

If you have the PID before you changed the type to AGM also check to see if anything was changed in the PID. From what I've read on other site there are code (maybe even in different PID?) for battery sub types. (Not all AGM have exactly the same charging parameters though differences would be close).

From these that appear to be unused - I'm guessing not actually used .... yet?
The checkbox isn't on an option - merely showing the options can be checked and happens to rest in middle of list. Compared to other PIDs like "Fault in PTC" shows Yes & No to be displayed but no check.

That's the H4 just a little taller than the BXT99RT4A shown in my 2022 manual. It has the same CCA 390 and 45Ah.
See if dealer will warranty replace it before your 3/36 warranty is up.

Irregardless all, it finally worked! I’ve been trying this for a while and never have gotten the battery icon on dash to flash after finishing. It did this time so I think I’ve got it right. Now to let it sit overnight after a full charge. Thanks again to everyone for your advice and instructions.

OK I found this on F150 thread.
So in BCM there should be PID where first two digits tell what battery code to use. Just need to find Ford's code for the battery installed? Maybe this has been changed in Maverick?
I posted this on different thread here.

Ok did some looking and found couple things:
#1: someone in F150 forum using forscan to set battery type to AGM. This was 2021 so maybe the codes then are not the same now and/or may have different ones for valid maverick. From what I've read the 01 is for a BC AGM and the code 02 is for AGM... etc.
#2: a link to different f150 thread has 86 posts from someone asking about installing different battery. Member bluegrass post quite a bit on the Ford BMS and in one past halfway if I remember correctly stated the different items (8+?) that the program used to charge the particular selected battery (variables different for different batteries, etc.).
Need to find the table for all Ford allowable battery types and their xx codes.

I have an early 22 EB built...it was built 11/21. I do have the recall listed in my Ford Pass. Did you have an EFB or AGM battery when you bought your Maverick?
**Edit: I already had two posts to this thread. Those have been deleted to avoid confusion..**

My Mav has the same battery, that It came with. (Build date: 10/31/2022).
I took a look and photo of it, just a while ago....

Ford Maverick Recall: 25S02 12V BATTERY INSPECTION AGM-Battery_Pups

This is what the Part Number is... BAGM-48H6-760..
So, He came WITH a AGM-type Battery.. Is this a GOOD THING? (y)
Also, I looked up my VIN, NO Recall for Battery listed...

??Maybe My Mav is actually a MY23??
