I ordered one for my 16 year old daughter's birthday present. She enjoys driving my Ram Rebel 1500 and so I thought a small pickup would be perfect for her. Ordered back in early December, feel like I have a few months to go based on what I read here.
Also my sons name is Maverick

I’m in my early 70’s and retired. Thought I’d thin the herd a bit by replacing my wife’s car and my F150 with the Maverick. It will meet our needs for a sedan as well as being enough truck for our purposes now that neither of us need our own dedicated daily driver. Still keeping a couple of “toy” cars though. The need for speed doesn’t diminish with age!

I've been reading a bunch of posts today and very few folks have given any indication why they really ordered this truck.

I'm wondering - specifically, why are you buying this particular truck?

So, why did you buy a Maverick and what do you plan on doing with it?
I'm turning 70, retired. My wife and I live on a small "farmette" in the foothills outside Seattle, and raise dogs and alpacas. In Dec we only had two alpacas, but lost one.

Ford Maverick Why did you order a Maverick? What are you going to use it for? Bonita

Bonita our sweetie that we lost.

We re-homed the other one as we decided at our age it was time, and didn't need to be hauling hay and grain anymore. She went back to farm where we first got her, and is now with her papa.

So, I was sitting, looking out the window at our '14 Escape, '12 Escape Hybrid, and "99 Ranger, and decided we really didn't need all 3 vehicles. I've liked the Ranger, had a new one in 2006 that was totaled, but the new ones are just too big for my needs, to high on sides of bed, etc.

As this might be my last new vehicle, I wanted a nice one that I could still get a sheet of plywood or haul garbage to dump. Also have a couple of trailers to move, and wanted something that we might use to pull a small trailer around the country. 4 dogs made the back seat desirable, canopy on back. As I'm getting older, creature comforts are always welcome. Dual control temp, I'm always cold, wife is always warm. The 360 and ACC were also big likes for me. More cameras are always good.

Price was incentive, but I loaded it up to over $37,000 and will be paying cash for it. I liked the Bose sound system, all the cubbies, tailgate power, and versatility of bed. Had SIBL on Ranger and really liked it. Always wanted a moon roof.

I have advantage that while I am retired, I can still take as many work calls as I feel like, being about 25 in seniority out of about 1500. So any work I do now goes into special "Maverick Account" that I set up.

My biggest internal debate is color. I ordered the A51, have seen it in person and still like it, but also really like CG and Alto Blue.

I'll be selling the '14 Escape when I get delivery, or shortly before.

Well SnOOpyguy, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since I started that thread on June 23. That is the day I got confirmation that my order for my Lariat was accepted. To date, I have nothing to show for it other than dealer and Ford excuses. Of course, my dealer who is a small E. TExas town operation tells me I may never get the truck for my 2022. At that point I bought a Ridgeline and could not be happier. I'm holding on because if a miracle happens and I get the Maverick, I will see what the market will bear and sell it myself. Probably pocket a few grand real quick since I bought it under MRSP because the dealers did not know how popular this truck would become - nor did anyone else. Btw, I see you are in Cincinnati. I drove my Ridgeline from Texas and just checked into a motel in Memphis on my way to visit friends in Cincy. I will get there tomorrow. Great town!!!
Wow, that really sucks! It's still difficult for me to understand how Ford has seemingly learned N O T H I N G from these consecutive botched launches. The current board will love my proxy when it arrives.

At any rate, glad you are happy with the Ridgeline, and no longer tied to waiting for a Maverick. Who knows, maybe it will show up someday!

Drive it to work. Home Depot and buy stuff. Head up to an Air B&B in Tahoe for Christmas. Have an excuse to buy a teardrop trailer. Normal pickup stuff.

I'm in northern CA, but unlike a lot of neighbors with horses, cows and big trailers, I don't need or want a full-sized vehicle.

Want to finally get a 4x8 sheet of plywood home without having to cut it or pay 50k for a truck to do it.

Replacing our KIA Niro Hybrid because I do DIY things around the house now that we are retired. We had a Toyota Tacoma QuadCab and loved it. Had to trade it for a lower car so parents and in-laws could have a ride. Wife would not give up her SUV. Too many trips to the hardware store needing a truck. We love the hybrid. Not limited like an EV, but better MPG than a pure ICE.

My Maverick will augment my 4WD F-250. My F-250 has marker lights which makes most parking garages off-limits, even if the length wasn't also a problem. Maverick will make it easier for me to drive into more urban areas where the only parking is either on-street or in a parking garage. Towing and hauling are what the F-250 is for. Possibly adding local plant delivery with the Maverick. No daily commuting, so mileage isn't really a concern.

Ordered it for the 1) Price, 2) MPG, 3) Ground Clearance.

Wasn't originally planning on getting a truck but I did want something with high ground clearance. I hate how all modern 20k cars are low to the ground (but aren't sporty), and scrape on curbs and driveways. Under the bumper of our 2018 Corolla is all scratched up and we have a couple broken plastic splash guard clips but our 2005 one is perfectly fine without a scratch. The 05 one handles better anyway.

It will also be nice to pick up my own water heater/fridge/washer/dryer/etc without having to pay for delivery or rent a truck.

I've been reading a bunch of posts today and very few folks have given any indication why they really ordered this truck. I've heard "suits me to a tee", "this truck was made for me", etc., etc. I live in Texas country and out here in the sticks I don't think the Maverick will do too well. Oil workers and farmers and ranchers are going with Rams and F150s because that is what they need. However, I believe places like Dallas and its suburbs will probably find good sales for the Maverick.

I'm wondering - specifically, why are you buying this particular truck? I'll begin. I'm in my '70s and have owned mid-size trucks of various sorts during my life. I loved my two Dodge Dakotas and I bought one of the very first Ridgelines to come off the line in 2005. Now that money is no longer a major consideration, I've been driving Mercedes vehicles and love them but decided they just were not practical for me now that I am older with different things going on in my life. I've taken up gardening so I need something to haul plants and mulch. In my current vehicle, lucky if I can get two bags of potting soil in the thing. I live on a golf course and play almost every day but I would love to get a few guys together now and then and go to other courses - just throw the bags in the back end and go. Again, lucky if I can get a 7 iron in the car I have now. It is a beast, fast and fun to drive but I think I'm getting past that stage now. I don't trailer anything and frankly, I really don't need a truck but my love of smaller trucks won out and I ordered a Lariat that was pretty well loaded. I have a new Mercedes ordered too and should arrive next month. Now I can say I have the best of both worlds.

So, why did you buy a Maverick and what do you plan on doing with it?
All of the above. Hauling building materials, soil, manure, scrap, canoes, etc. Have to figure out a way to sleep in it for camping and I'm looking at teardrop camping trailers. Thinking about semi retirement working part-time working on gearboxes so delivering gears (under 500 lbs.) shafts, bearings et al to the sites. Maybe getting a dog too.

Ordered mine back in October because I do a lot of gardening, and I wanted to be able to run out and get what I want when I want it instead of having to rely on friends or garden center delivery. Hoping that dream becomes a reality in 2023, because it doesn't look like it's going to happen this year.
Also, I'm 5'2" and I don't need a winch to get into the Maverick. That's a big plus for me at 63!

At 66 and semi retired, I was looking for something to tow my snowmobile trailer around yet get decent mileage. Being the owner of a 2022 Honda Civic and 2004 Ford Ranger I was looking for something newer and found the Maverick was just what I need to replace vehicles I have now. The Civic just rides a little to low and makes it hard to get out of and other vehicle lights make it hard to see at night. The Ranger is only 2 wheel drive and being a good dependable older truck just lacks the room for other passengers and traction in the winter isn't that great. And the price for the Maveric,k.........Less than I paid for my Civic....bonus!

I ordered mine in January after my second Nissan Frontier had been totaled by a drunk driver in front of my house. (both trucks suffered the same fate). I almost bought a third Frontier, But pricing and availability of the models I wanted held me back. Also both trucks got about 15mpg average so that was also a bit of a choke point for me this time around. I need a small truck to haul a 16foot john boat and a small 16foot camper, so the hybrid was not an option as I needed the 4k tow package. I decided to go a bit further and get the lux for the heated seats and also the FX4 to handle the snowy winters. All of these options fit my needs perfectly, as well as the fact that I do not haul any long items in the bed. Maybe the occasional piece of furniture or a couple sheets of plywood. The 5 ft bed of my frontier has been fine for years, so I figured this would suit me as well. Being a crew cab was also great since I have 2 small children and rarely ever have any adults in the back seat. I knew I would be in for a wait, probably august or get pushed back to my23, so I bought a beater with a heater minivan for $3000 cash to get by until the truck gets here. I did the math and, the payments for 6-8 months on the maverick would have cost as much or more than the van, also I can sell the van and recoup most if not all of that. So it was a no brainer to buy the van and wait for the vehicle I really wanted. Other than the wait, this truck is a perfect fit for my situation.
