I live in an urban area with tight parking on the street (trucks sometimes have to put a wheel on the sidewalk), but I need to be able to move lumber, tools, gardening equipment, and the resulting runs to the dump in something other than my sedan. We also have a small driveway that backs up to an alley with a brick building on the other side. I've borrowed a friend's old tiny pickup and an suv and have been able to fit in our driveway without any trouble. The one time I rented a uhaul pickup (f150 size i believe), the only way to maneuver the vehicle with the tailgate down (yay lumber) into the driveway, was to remove the a fence post. 😂 the folks who have cycled through the rental property next door have the same issues when someone with a larger truck rents there.

When I learned about the Maverick, I jumped on it. Unfortunately, it was too late for a hybrid. I'm tempted to order a 23 hybrid when the order bank opens and trade in the ecoboost for it (if the ecoboost ever gets built. Lol)

I ordered the truck because this is a PITA. Can’t wait to not have to tie my gear to the roof!
We (family of 4) do a ton of camping, snowshoeing, etc. in our VW jetta. My wife bought a roof bag a few years ago, but we've never actually used it. I guess we're just really good at packing. The biggest reason we ordered the Maverick is because of the cost-efficiency, we were actually looking at other compacts for our next car, but the Maverick should be pretty close in cost with a little more utility. If it wasn't for $20k base price and hybrid, no way would we be considering a truck. It will be great to easily transport our 100lbs. e-bikes.

Have been waiting for an economical daily driver truck like this for years! I commute an average of 80 miles a day for work. A mid-size or full size truck is out of the question because of the crappy gas mileage. Been driving Escapes for the past several years and have really grown to like them. The Maverick appears to be very similar so it should be a good fit for me. This will be my first brand new car purchase since 2007 and it is my first special order, so needless to say, I'm pretty excited about it.

I have always used my cars like they were trucks. Finally, I have a truck I can use like a car!

I happen to to live in west Texas, and feel that for a majority of people out here that dont need a truck tor work, that the maverick will be a perfect fit for most of them. For me personally, My 15 year old daily driver Chevy HHR wagon is about shot.

I was in the market looking to replace it for about 2 years, but nothing really "fit" what I was needing. I have a fullsize 1994 silverado I bought new. It still runs and drives like new, and shows very well for its age. My silverado is not a daily driver. It was for the first 20 years of its life but is now a toy to play with, and tinker on. So I still needed a new vehicle.

Anyhoo, I needed something that had 4 doors, got decent mpg, AWD was a big consideration because of the horrible ice storms we get out here every winter, as well as a tow hitch and capability to pull a small utility trailer if needed, plus a truck bed as a bonus. Looking at used stuff, the prices were like new vehicles, and I just wasnt going to make those kinds of payments on something with 80K or more on the odometer.

Cruising the net one night the maverick pops up in my search query. I price one out on the ford website and it met everything I wanted in a next vehicle, and the bonus was that its a really good looking little truck for not so much money. Then I found the Granger deal on here and the rest is history. Silver XLT AWD with a tow hitch.

My Dad had daily driven compact trucks for years. He bought a new 85 Nissan King Cab pickup and drove it for 25 years before it was replaced with a used and cheap 93 Ranger STX 4x4 5MT regular cab in red. He got tired of the lack of interior space in the Ranger after a while, sold it to my uncle and got a 04 Grand Cherokee for daily work beater use till this day.

We had been planning to replace the GC (with all its electrical issues common on the WJ generation) and my Dad wanted a truck again but modern mid-sized trucks have grown too big and too expensive even used with a trillion miles on them. Then the Maverick was launched and he’s been all over that truck. And optioned in XLT FX4 trim still brings it a hair under $30k. Yeah we’ve been won over, especially with used late model truck and SUV prices averaging over $30k, rather get this new Maverick. I’ll help with putting in an order for a XLT FX4 later this summer.

My previous vehicle was a 2011 Ranger XLT with extended cab, 5 sp. Loved it but my grandchildren got to big to crawl in the back and get in hump seats. Needed small 4 door truck - THANK YOU FORD. Ordered last July, got it in November, love it.
However I do miss my manual, oh well can't have it all.

I'm 27, The biggest thing that gravitated me towards the Mav was the price. I love fishing and have been dying to buy a bass boat that I will need to tow. I don't have any kids, its just two of us so the rear passenger seats are not as important to me but are still nice to have as an option to comfortably fit 4 people. I also needed a car that I could daily drive for years without breaking the bank with gas prices and have reliability. I can see myself utilizing the bed by itself as I occasionally have things to haul around and wont have to worry about dirtying up the interior of a SUV or car. I do drive on unpaved streets every once in a while and a nicer suspension will help with that. I looked at plenty of Tacoma's a year ago but never could pull the trigger as at that time they were still a lot more expensive even for a 4 year old used one with 60,000-90,000 miles on it, not to mention the 10 mpg I would be getting in the city. Overall if I had unlimited money my choice would of been different and I think that is the case for a lot of us but for me the price and all the utility it will bring made it impossible not to order.

- FYI I never considered the santa cruz strictly due to price as well.

I've been reading a bunch of posts today and very few folks have given any indication why they really ordered this truck. I've heard "suits me to a tee", "this truck was made for me", etc., etc. I live in Texas country and out here in the sticks I don't think the Maverick will do too well. Oil workers and farmers and ranchers are going with Rams and F150s because that is what they need. However, I believe places like Dallas and its suburbs will probably find good sales for the Maverick.

I'm wondering - specifically, why are you buying this particular truck? I'll begin. I'm in my '70s and have owned mid-size trucks of various sorts during my life. I loved my two Dodge Dakotas and I bought one of the very first Ridgelines to come off the line in 2005. Now that money is no longer a major consideration, I've been driving Mercedes vehicles and love them but decided they just were not practical for me now that I am older with different things going on in my life. I've taken up gardening so I need something to haul plants and mulch. In my current vehicle, lucky if I can get two bags of potting soil in the thing. I live on a golf course and play almost every day but I would love to get a few guys together now and then and go to other courses - just throw the bags in the back end and go. Again, lucky if I can get a 7 iron in the car I have now. It is a beast, fast and fun to drive but I think I'm getting past that stage now. I don't trailer anything and frankly, I really don't need a truck but my love of smaller trucks won out and I ordered a Lariat that was pretty well loaded. I have a new Mercedes ordered too and should arrive next month. Now I can say I have the best of both worlds.

So, why did you buy a Maverick and what do you plan on doing with it?
I wanted a small pickup for it's multi purpose use. I had a Ford Ranger that supported that purpose. I am buying this Hybrid truck because of the fantastic Mileage and for it's small multi-purpose truck use.

Well SnOOpyguy, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since I started that thread on June 23. That is the day I got confirmation that my order for my Lariat was accepted. To date, I have nothing to show for it other than dealer and Ford excuses. Of course, my dealer who is a small E. TExas town operation tells me I may never get the truck for my 2022. At that point I bought a Ridgeline and could not be happier. I'm holding on because if a miracle happens and I get the Maverick, I will see what the market will bear and sell it myself. Probably pocket a few grand real quick since I bought it under MRSP because the dealers did not know how popular this truck would become - nor did anyone else. Btw, I see you are in Cincinnati. I drove my Ridgeline from Texas and just checked into a motel in Memphis on my way to visit friends in Cincy. I will get there tomorrow. Great town!!!

I ordered one for my 16 year old daughter's birthday present. She enjoys driving my Ram Rebel 1500 and so I thought a small pickup would be perfect for her. Ordered back in early December, feel like I have a few months to go based on what I read here.

Me, I have a 2-seater Miata, can't get groceries, can't move tree branches when they fall, potting soil, mulch, my keyboard you name it. I go to Ohio from Florida twice a year on vacation and rental cars cost a fortune now, so MY truck for me & my dog to travel twice a year and for chores, I am 66 and only 5' 4", so low to the ground, Ford, because I had an F-150 once and loved it, plus the price.

I've wanted to replace my "3 on the tree" F-100 pickup in 1985. In the interim, I've felt that small pickups were too small, and the regular pickups were too big. Modern pickups are ridiculous in size (and gas guzzlers), so I wasn't interested in those. And then came the Maverick....Perfect!
