It's the key for me. My last car was a 2011 Infiniti that I drove for 8 years with a push button start and keyless entry. I still keep putting the key in my pocket after I lock the house and then immediately fish it back out to get in the truck. That and the adaptive cruise control had me really connsidering a Lariat. Luckily I was able to DIY the adaptive cruise, but I doubt keyless entry is something that could be added after the fact.
So both keyless entry and keyless ignition cn be added if you want.

1. Having a key instead of push button start
2. Terribly outdated infotainment system
3. The rotary shift knob doesn't stop spinning when you get to park or drive
3. Lack of corner steps on the rear bumper (I'm short)
I don't see the shift knob thing as a problem. If I know I need to go to D or P I like not having to look. A hard stop would probably cause an early failure of the switch. What I like best about the digital knob shifter is that if you forget to go to park when you turn the truck off it does it automatically.

I agree with the many comments about the exterior finish being fragile. My dog got the idea that there was some animal under the truck and scratched repeatedly on one of the fenders. I thought it was cute until I later looked at the place she had scratched and those scratches will be there forever. Lucky thing I am not really fussy about the appearance of my truck even though I love it--real men don't have pretty trucks.

Had my Lariat Lux hybrid for a couple months now, and it's been really great so far.

My kid didn't like it until I added one of these doohickeys to stiffen up the seat belt latch.

My biggest complaints are lack of luxury features including seat memory and fancy rear view mirror. I can try to fix the mirror, at least.

If I really want to reach, I'd prefer a plug-in hybrid with AWD, and a 4k lb tow limit.

Quality. Recalls on top of recalls with no parts available and no way to get them fixed.

What did you use for your rust proofing? I think I should really look into doing the same
Used cosmoline spray. Dries to a hard wax like layer and doesn't attract dirt. I used 10 cans for the whole underbody.

My Ecoboost is expected to arrive any day now. While I twiddle my thumbs waiting for the call, tell me what you don't like about the Maverick so I can taper my expectations.

So far, I've heard of:
  • Bad speaker/sound system.
  • Noisy interior cabin
  • Easily scratched interior
It seems to me that most of the complaints are coming from XL & XLT because the lariat has better sound deading and better windshield and a better sound system and it,s the only one with the full sync system and of course I saw a complaint about a key which the Lariat desn't have.

This should have been a poll where we - or the Ford product manager - could have done some analysis. I hope someone is keeping track of the information being provided.

I think Ford hit it out of the park with the Maverick. Ignore that they underestimated the demand for the hybrid version and look at it purely from a new product segment perspective. It was given some challenging requirements, and I think they did a fantastic job.

My minor nit-picks:
  • The bed is too short. I would love a 2-door extended cab with a longer bed.
  • The standard XLT and Lariat interior colors are awful. The Black Appearance Package solves this problem. How about giving us interior choices instead of forcing us to take the package (since most of us don't care about the other BAP features)?
  • The water bottle holder design in the door is comical.
  • The AWD's rear suspension improves ride quality. Why not reduce the number of component options and make it standard for 2-wheel drive models?
Cheers.

For me it is:
1-Excessive Wind noise past 60mph. Has anyone figured out where it's coming from? To me it feels like a weather stripping issue somewhere. I don't know how many other people are having this issue past 60mph but on my truck it is pretty bad. I shouldn't have to have the radio on to drown out the excessive noise.
2-Everyday I wish it had a push start.
3- Being always cautions about the scratchable interior. I immediately got a scratch on my glove box. Has anyone tried using a heat gun on this interior plastic? I want to try it on the scratch but am a bit scared it will discolor it.
4- Radio is ok but there is a feeling that music is lacking a bit on clarity.
Other than that I love it but dang that wind noise.. I have 500 miles on it

Funny becasue those are all my complaints and may have been solved with a Lariat. My only issue for not going Lariat is that the price would have just been to high. If I was going to spend near 40k I would have just gone with a slightly used Tecoma.

Sound system is adequate but not great-to nit pick I don't like the seat belt reminder even when they are hooked and have to hit OK as part of the start up! Kind of stupid!!!

Sound system, but going to upgrade that eventually. I've had the infotainment randomly reboot while driving a couple times too.

Lariat w/ Tow, FX4, Luxury option.

What I don't like:
-No split rear seat
-Engine is a bit noisy from inside and out (Someone said it sounds like a sewing machine, haha).
-Oil changes are difficult (two skid plates and 20ish bolts)

What I do like:
-Handles very well (like driving a car)
-2.0EB gets good mileage, especially highway
-Size is perfect for my needs
-B&O sounds pretty good to me
-Pretty much everything else

Yes! I live where it rains often and I toss my bag in backseat when going to work and water drips inside when opening the door.

I don’t like the rotary shift knob. I don’t like the lack of auto up/down on front window switches. I’m not a fan of the off center rear tag placement. The door pockets (or lack thereof) are pretty useless. The radio is glitchy. The low quality plastics inside.
I’d still buy it though and it’s perfect for me
Should have spent a little more and got the lariat half your items would be non-exsistant.
