  1. Is anyone else surprised by how small the washer fluid reservoir is.

A couple of weeks ago I started getting messages that the reservoir was empty--first time since I bought the truck. So I bought a gallon and poured it in. Looked like there would be room for more. And I stopped getting messages and it squirted just fine. Then I read this post saying it is near...
  2. Ford air tunnel testing: tailgate myth and tonneau cover (aerodynamics / MPG)

Just occurred to me that some younger readers may not remember the Saturday morning radio show on NPR, CarTalk.
  3. Ford air tunnel testing: tailgate myth and tonneau cover (aerodynamics / MPG)

Click 'n' Clack, the Tappet brothers, years ago got a question asking about putting a cargo net in place with the tail gate open. They answered that, of course, that was a very good idea. The next week they jokingly "ate crow" saying that an engineer from GM had called to tell them that they...
  4. The REAL HYBRID MPG

I have checked my mileage over a full tank and the computed (by me) and computed (by computer) have been within about +/-2 mpg. I drive around town with occasional trips to nearby towns. I agree that it is pretty meaningless for very short trips and have never taken thought much about. Coming...
  5. Best "small truck" insults!?

I have a hybrid Mav. In a parking lot the other day an old bearded redneck-looking man came up and asked me what it was. I gave him a brief synopsis after which he went into an anti-electric car rant like you have never heard. Like his sister-in-law had to replace batteries at a crazy high cost...
  6. SecuriCode Keyless-Entry Keypad is available again for Maverick

Thank you so much. This ends a year long quest! The owner's manual was not at all clear how to access this fuse but I got it from youtube. Also hard to fold up my 6'4" frame to get to see it once I got the cover off, and equally hard to get an angle where other cables were not covering the...
  7. SecuriCode Keyless-Entry Keypad is available again for Maverick

I have a keypad on my '22 xlt. But accidently threw the code away with the packing materials I guess. My local ford dealer isn't where I bought it. Therefore they charge $120 to read it. I have tried all the tricks suggested here, looked in all the "secret" places where it can be hidden, looked...
  8. What don't you like about your Maverick?

I don't see the shift knob thing as a problem. If I know I need to go to D or P I like not having to look. A hard stop would probably cause an early failure of the switch. What I like best about the digital knob shifter is that if you forget to go to park when you turn the truck off it does it...
  9. lane-change alarm

Thank you for one of the few intelligent and helpful posts on this thread. Thanks to all responders who recognize that nobody is perfect and tiredness can be something we may not be aware of. To those who are so flawless that they can only preach without addressing my question, please refrain...
  10. lane-change alarm

Wow, I never expected to get scolding lectures. Nice to know that I share a forum with folks who are perfect and are entitled to tell me what a rotten driver I am. I fell asleep once only and asked a straightforward question seeking to make it less likely in the future. I would appreciate it to...
  11. lane-change alarm

Thanks for your reply, but this is not what I was asking. I once fell asleep at the wheel (of another vehicle) with pretty dire consequences. I want to be wakened if I fall asleep and I fear that the vibrating steering wheel when drifting across lanes will not be enough.
  12. lane-change alarm

Is it possible to get an audible alarm when drifting out of lane rather than the vibrating steering wheel?
  13. hybrid mpg issue

Thank you, one and all, for putting my mind at rest over this issue!
  14. hybrid mpg issue

This video was extremely helpful to me. Thanks!
  15. hybrid mpg issue

I just left the TRIP running for the first 3 weeks, so I presume it was cumulative. Then noticed that it was slowly decreasing so I started a new TRIP and the mpg ran steadily in the 20s. Your comments are very helpful and I think I just need to stop worrying about it.
  16. hybrid mpg issue

So, AC has a big impact on mpg?
  17. hybrid mpg issue

So this means that the eco setting had nothing to do with the sudden drop? So any other ideas?
  18. hybrid mpg issue

I have owned my 2022 XLT Maverick hybrid for about 5 weeks now and am still learning how to use all the options, settings, etc. For the first approximately 3 weeks my overall mileage was in the high 30s mpg, about what I would have expected given the estimated numbers given for city/highway...
  19. Is Carvana Broken?!?

With 202 miles it might as well be new.
  20. Is Carvana Broken?!?

The other side of the coin is buying from Carvana. I had an accident back in May which made it imperative to get a new vehicle. Circumstances dictated that I get a small pickup with club cab and was a hybrid. Some research narrowed the possibilities to a single choice--maverick. But, when I...
