Just to add another datapoint:
23 hybrid maverick.
Originally i was getting lurching but no grinding noise
But just took the car for a few recalls, and they updated the PCM software. Now I'm getting more of a vibration from the brake petal accompanied by grinding noise. This seems to indicate...
Another datapoint: when the truck is stopped and tried to go forward I switched to neutral and the truck is no longer trying to overcome the brake. However the engine makes surging noise and sounds like a bucket of marbles.
Anybody had any success to get dealer to reproducing this? It's a minor annoyance that I'm willing to live with but I'm worried that it might cause additional wear and tear on the transmission etc.
I lost mine, hit a small debris on highway. The trim piece where the deflector attaches to is also cracked. TBH the deflector doesn't seal the areal completely and seems to be really fragile. If I install a new one on I might just cut off the bottom section so any debris will just hit the tire...
Not surprised. The low end torque of the hybrid is insane. I was getting up the ramps. I had to use inertial for all my previous internal combustion cars, the hybrid went up there like it was flat.
Good on you. But where I live it's almost never safe to just stop on highway. I always note the next exit and tell the passenger to call the highway maintenance phone number. They are usually super responsive about this kind of stuff.
There are so many factors that go into the battery voltage level.
For example the battery voltage will settle down shortly after driving. There are self diagnostic that run shortly after you park that drains the battery.
The only meaningful way to measure how long you can park the truck is...
But with hybrid you will probably never have to change the brakes, no turbo to worry about, etc.
Also the truck will drive fine even if the battery won't hold charge anymore. The price difference would've been paid back long before that.
look into 3M rhinoskin, which is a type of polyurethane film. I already got a sizable rock chip on A pillar. I just applied it last weekend and if done correctly it's pretty much invisible. Re-applying every 3 years sounds much better than dealing with rust issues down the road.
All the ceramic...
my first hybrid, but I'm blown away by the low end torque of this thing. It's surprisingly fast when passing cars. And for things like getting onto ramps, backing up a hill etc is MUCH easier than any other ICE cars.
Ford's net profit margin from last quarter was 4.24%, and that's including all the super high margin fully decked out F150. I'm pretty sure they are losing money on base hybrid XL. The folks buying Lariat is pretty much subsidizing those who get base model.
