My Ecoboost is expected to arrive any day now. While I twiddle my thumbs waiting for the call, tell me what you don't like about the Maverick so I can taper my expectations.

So far, I've heard of:
  • Bad speaker/sound system.
  • Noisy interior cabin
  • Easily scratched interior

The only thing I don't like is the blind spot caused by the low mounted rearview mirror, other than that nothing & I have had no issues in 15 months of ownership.

I thought the cabin was surprisingly quiet 🤷‍♂️

But I agree with your other points. Also the paint quality is suspect, I got a paint chip in the hood literally within the first 10 minutes of driving it off the lot.

The speakers do leave something to be desired. I listen to podcasts 95% of the time though, so It doesn't really bother me; but I do notice it lacking when I put music on. Definitely foresee an audio upgrade in my future.

The other thing was the steering wheel. the XLT plastic-y steering wheel just didn't feel great in the hand, especially for something you are touching constantly. Maybe it's because my last 2 vehicles had leather steering wheels, but it just felt not great after the first month of using it. However, I was able to remedy this with a really nice sporty leather wheel from a Fiesta ST and now all is right with the world.

Other than that, the truck has fully exceeded my expectations and I really do love it. Congrats on your truck finally (nearly) arriving!

I've read a lot of negatives about the sound system. Maybe it's because I'm in my 70s and blew out my hearing listening to loud music over the years, or the flight line noise while in the Air Force, or the fact that I've never really needed the best possible music while driving, but I have no problem with the sound. No, it's not the best, but I don't think it's that bad either. I remember having a single (crappy) speaker and mono in my early years of driving, so this is great compared.

Now, music in the house is a whole different matter.

1. Having a key instead of push button start
2. Terribly outdated infotainment system
3. The rotary shift knob doesn't stop spinning when you get to park or drive
3. Lack of corner steps on the rear bumper (I'm short)

Friend Hyundai and Kia have words for you on point 1.

Also for people bitching about the sound: I've heard it's better than a Ford (old school/real) Ranger so you guys must he spoiled

1. Garbage interior quality - easy to scratch, creaks
2. Infotainment from 2014
3. Questionable paint
4. Abysmal (and I mean abysmal) dealer network

That's an interesting one. I've yet to actually try it but that does sound mildly annoying.
It doesn’t matter. You can turn it all you want past drive or park and it just stays in drive or park. Non issue.

Couple more dislikes: orange accents, and wonky interior door pulls. Both gimmicky.

If it's any consolation, I have a 22 Lincoln Corsair. It uses the rotary dial to select the drive modes. It also keeps turning after the last option is selected.
